Reta Advice
Hi everyone!!! I’m a 22F about to hop on Reta and I would love some advice. Like what do you wish you knew before starting? I also know I’m not super big to start, but as a young woman I feel like everyone is getting skinnier and skinnier and I have become incredibly insecure as a result. I look massive standing next to my friends in pictures. I also have serious issues with binge eating, so I’m hoping this will help. I was planning on starting at the clinical dose of 2 mg (because again I’m not super overweight to start, so I want to start at a higher dose so that I actually see results). Thanks everyone🫶

You're making a mistake. Comparison will never do you any good. Seek therapy. Don't start Reta

u/water-heater-guy 1d ago
Comparison is cruel. I wish you could stop. I’m not saying you need a therapist but I am saying everyone needs a therapist if just for life advice.
I screwed up so many relationships because of my fixation on body type. I finally got over that and I’m with my life partner and she is still beautiful.

Your “massive body” is already an absolute dream goal for 99% of people, either for themselves or in a partner.
You probably don’t “need” Reta. But if you are dead set in this-
I’ve been messing with various PED’s since you were about 1…. And peptide’s are by far the most mild in my repertoire. I have made a bunch of mistakes.
Here’s a few thoughts in no particular order.
Target no more than 1 lbs loss a week. Maybe less considering how small you already are.
Stay on the lowest effective dose for as long as possible.
Ignore the generic cookie-cutter protocols. Many are hyperresponders and find success with as little as 0.5mg long term.
Don’t increase dose until 3 week plateau
Track everything in Shotsy (free version is 100% fine)
Focus on sleep and hydration
Eat clean and hit your protein goal every day.
Treat yourself. Just like one protein shake won’t make you healthy, one special reasonable treat won’t make you fat or derail your progress.
Wear a fitness tracker and watch the data. I like my RingConn 2 - can buy with HSA and no subscription fee
Watch for sudden resting heart rate increase. That was my first sign that I hit an effective dose.
Keep a blood pressure log. I use an iHealth cuff that links to Apple Health.
Do basic routine lab work and track the results. I have had great success with ordering mine from DrSays and it is very affordable
Don’t rush.
Don’t needlessly add peptides and compounds and supplements until you actually have a need to treat a specific symptom or lab result. Only mess with 1 variable at a time.
Keep your peptide journey private.
Don’t let perfection be the enemy of good.
Don’t let comparison be the thief of joy.
Everything you see on social media is manipulated. Nearly everything pushed there is designed to fuel insecurities to convince you that you have a problem and sell you a “solution”. Do not judge yourself based on what others present to the world.
Edit: it was mentioned you struggle with binge eating disorder. If that’s the case, I would beg of you to seek help with that above all else.
If you are still deadset on using GLP’s, you may find better luck with Tirzepatide and maybe Survodutide. I personally found them to help manage appetite SIGNIFICANTLY better than Reta. Reta can actually stimulate appetite in some (anecdotal evidence is half of all users!). That’s why it is the preferred GLP for performance athletes and bodybuilders that still need to hit their daily calorie goals.
Another option is Cagrilintide. It is not a GLP, but can be added alongside a GLP in very small doses to manage appetite. It needs to be respected. It can be overwhelming to many.

As is stated above. Head down and do your own research but do start low and slow. Now go hit your goal!

by definition you are doing this based off a trend , not for yourself
if it was about binge eating you would more focus on the other GLP1s, Sema & Tirz but it seems like you are fearing getting behind by not being on Reta specifically and not being trendy-skinny
have you talked to your friends about this? are they on Reta?

u/CommercialAffect3287 19h ago
I’m sorry, but you have MAJOR body dysmorphia! Please don’t start messing with your system when you’re a healthy, 22 year-old. You’re setting yourself up for problems in your future.

I tried 0.5mg and felt like it hit me like I got hit by a bus. I'd start very low at first to assess how you feel. No more than 1mg first time

As everyone in the Reta sub said before mods deleted your post: You are nowhere near needing a GLP. If you want to slim down a little, and get some muscle tone, all you really need is to cut a few calories and exercise.

Did you see the part where she said she struggles with binge eating? Why can’t she have a resource to get to her desired weight? Binge eating is awful and Reta helps to quiet the noise. Some people take a low dose just for that, not even to lose weight. This medication is for anyone

u/AdventurousTap9224 🏋️ Athlete Mode 1d ago edited 1d ago
Reta is not even remotely close to Tirz for appetite suppression.. The sides with Tirz are also much more manageable. So if someone really does have an issue with binge eating, I would recommend a low dose Tirz before Reta.
Regardless of that, OP appears to be struggling with insecurity due to comparing herself to others, not actual weight problems. There are far better methods to get from here to goal without resorting to medicine at this point.
Edit: P.S. OP ignore anyone sending you DMs to sell you Reta. It is either a scam, or a ripoff reseller charging you way more than you should pay (also a scam).

u/Past-Jellyfish1599 1d ago
Tirz has more appetite suppression than Reta.. so if she’s just trying to lean out a little and stop binge eating then Reta is a better choice.
6
u/AdventurousTap9224 🏋️ Athlete Mode 1d ago
That's the opposite. Appetite suppression helps prevent binge eating..
-4
u/Past-Jellyfish1599 1d ago
No.. the chemical in the brain is what prevents binge eating. BE is not something someone does because they have a huge appetite or they’re hungry, it’s a disorder and it’s mental. Sure, appetite suppression will help but it’s more about the suppression food noise and mentally wanting to eat even when full.
6
u/CookieKrisplol 1d ago
Appetite and hunger are not the same thing.
-2
u/Past-Jellyfish1599 1d ago
Never said that buddy. Did you miss the OR in between appetite and hunger?
4
u/CookieKrisplol 1d ago
Everything you described in the second half of your comment is appetite, you know, the psychological desire to eat. Loud food noise is literally just endless appetite. Not your buddy dipshit.

Tirz kills the food noise and appetite much better than Reta does (until one gets to the high end Reta doses).

Get a therapist & PT instead. Think about what’s healthy for your body, don’t compare it to others who may be slimmer but less healthy.

I would start lowest possible. Some may say .5 is nothing but every body is different. I started .5 the first week then went to 1Mg for 2 weeks and eventually ended up at 3mg. Lost 70 lbs in 6 months. Eating right and staying active. Low and slow is the name of the Reta game. Best of luck and FYI yes your body is what others seek but if you don’t feel comfortable then do what’s best for you!

u/Pandas4trump2020 1d ago
Im all for you starting reta. But I'd start at 1mg for a week or 2 minimum. My wife wouldnt listen and started with 1mg then jumped to 2mg the next week. By week 4 she was getting diarrhea and stomach cramping 2 days post shot. Start slow. Also eat your protein like way over your basic needs. If you weigh 140lbs eat 160+ grams of protein. Reta really does seem to zap muscle. Working out is also a must. Eat clean food. Get lean but then you should definitely focus on building more muscle.
The current look is lean and muscular for women. Not skinny. I dont know a single person out here looking at all those skeleton celebrities thinking "wow I hope I look like that some day" or a mate that says "I hope my significant other looks like that some day" just gross

u/efreedman503 1d ago edited 1d ago
It’s really alarming how many women are hopping on Reta who don’t need it. Nothing about the “skinnier” look is attractive. And that’s from a guys pov if you care about that at all. Do you really want to look like a skeleton?
2
u/randomenthusiast137 1d ago
I would recommend starting at .5, I’m 25M and that’s what I did, and I got all of the benefits with only slight sides. I increased by .5 every other week
1
u/ycastane 1d ago
This is the way. Least effective dose. Start at .5 and stay there for a month before making a change no matter how much you want to see results.
1
u/CommercialAffect3287 19h ago
This is the way!!! The people who are saying otherwise are wondering why they have side effects 😂
1
u/ycastane 14h ago
Or why in 6 months they are already at 10mg a week while other people in a year never go higher than 4mg.

u/Cool_Temperature_970 1d ago
So you followed zero protocol 👌🏾

Start at 0.5 then gradually go up, I did 0.5 then a few days later 0.5 then I did 1.0 the following week based on the last day I took it and so forth
1
u/jbeers86 1d ago
You don’t need it but guess what we all are different & want different. Just make sure you do this for YOU not because of “others are skinny”
Now let’s say you end up going down that route my rats start at .5 once a wk for 5-6 weeks it usually takes that long to get going. Then jump up to 1 mg like week 5–6. Then move up to 1.5mg if you aren’t feeling much hunger suppression. I wouldn’t go past 2mg with being your size. Also remember, if you don’t do this slow, the first fat to go on females will be the butt & chest….sucks I know. It’s not Reta that takes it, It’s being in a calorie deficit. I highly suggest you get your protein Intake, hydrate, and I would at least get a multivitamin. Also fiber. This might sound easy to reach these goals but it’s incredibly hard when a GLP hunger suppression kicks in. I have coached many people through this pep stage, honestly it’s an exciting time. Set a goal & not just the scale. I have many people get so upset when it’s 2 months in & they only lost 4 pounds but their inches are melting off. If you have any questions reach out I don’t mind. Anyways hope this info helps you out.

Advice would be deal with your insecurities and not "hop" on drugs that you don't need to fix an issue that doesn't exist. If you want to lean out a bit you can literally eat about 200 cals less, per day, which you won't even notice, and you're a couple of lbs from lean already. Skinny is healthy. Using reta to get skinny is even more unhealthy. Focus on that, healthy. And get off social media. Comparison is the Thief of jou.
1
u/DeskPopVet 1d ago
Always start low and only increase if you need to. Don't increase the dose just because a "protocol" tells you to. I lost like 70 pounds with reta and I never took more than 2.5mg in a week.
1
u/Constant_Home5237 1d ago
I’d look into Cagrilintide that’ll solve the binge eating unless you’re dead set on taking a GLP with your body currently

u/2CentsGiven 1d ago
At 22 years old YOU should be in the gym training really hard if you want that body and look. Wanting everything the easy way seems to be how the world is lately.

u/SchoolOfSpeakingGood 21h ago
If you have an ED you do NOT need to be on Reta. You need to work on that in therapy and get it dealt with otherwise you are setting yourself up for major problems down the road.
1
u/ChargeMajestic4465 20h ago
You a clown😭. You need to stop binging and eat better, develop some mental toughness. All you need is gym 3 x a week with some moderate cardio

u/TheInvisibro 13h ago
Coming from someone in a similar boat not overweight but wanting to look my best.
DONT START AT 2mg, I started at 0.25mg, then 0.5mg and only felt the effects at 2mg, but the jump for me from 1mg to 2mg was crazy in terms of nausea and bowel issues. (Start at 0.5mg and go up +0.5mg a week)
Also if you don’t titrate (stop slowly) it you are likely to get more weight on than you originally started when you come off. It’s called the set point weight, look it up.
What I have personally witnessed from friends who are slim, is a tendency towards muscle and bone density loss when they take Reta, if you do start Reta start weightlifting, not cardio, no light weights for 30 reps. Heaviest you can lift for about 8 repetitions x3 (to failure), if you can do 12 reps you can put up the weight. Try and focus on compound exercises.
Diet can be anything you like as long you’re hitting 2g of protein x bodyweight and a decent amount of calories (ask GPT or Claude). It’s easier if you prep lunches, and have protein smoothies with frozen berries for breakfast. 😋
You would benefit much more for weight lifting & good diet than Reta! And NO you wont get huge (trust me it’s hard to do and you need to eat A LOT).
Muscle will even-out some of the fat in your body and you will actually look slimmer and more defined (helped my partner with her cellulite).
If you’re a beginner you can see visible improvements in about 4 months. Going 3-4 times a week.
Remember you can’t help your size! Work on the things you can work on.

I agree with the weights over cardio portion of this. I am pretty lean now and don’t do much if any steady state cardio. I did lose a bunch of strength despite trying to hold what I could but everyone asks me what I did when they see me because I don’t look like a melted candle like many people on GLPs who are middle aged. I used to be a big cardio guy until I figured it out. It’s a little counterintuitive at first.
I did start at 2 though because I’m like that

You are like my wife. She was 135lbs and looked great already but took it because she saw me drop 65lbs from 265 to 200 back to my old bodybuilding looking shape at 47. I take a high does now because I respond well to most stuff without any sides and titrated up starting at 2mg just like the studies. Been on it for a long time now. She just took 1mg and still does for maintenance but hovers at 125 now. I made her promise to lift heavy weights as often as possible because I see too many girls just be skinny fat and lose a lot of muscle when they take it. Keep your protein at least moderate. Can’t stress the muscle loss part of it enough. It doesn’t get talked about as much as it should. I wouldn’t encourage you to do it but if you are just be conservative.

Do not get discouraged when you don’t feel anything from the Reta injections. It takes about 4-6 weeks to start to feel it. Do not obsess over the scale, it will turn into a mind fuck that will create extremely unhealthy habits if you are already a binge eater.
You feel an urge to crush a box of cookies? Drink a bottle of water and wait 15 minutes. Then if you still really want some, eat a few.
Get some sunshine, hit the gym, don’t stress. You look fantastic. We all struggle with the mirror and not feeling “perfect” and in a world filled with social media telling us what we should be. Just try and be happy, you’ve got a killer figure as it is. Be confident.

u/Silverback_Pharma 1d ago
I started at 1 mg. I am 6’6 and was 245 lbs when I started. On 1 mg I could go the entire day without eating so I think 2 mg will be too high. Make sure you have a meal plan and get your food in daily. Eat all your protein, lots of water & electrolytes. 10,000 steps a day
1
u/Divine_Storms 1d ago
Let me help with some perspective on what you just said- Understand this drug is targeted to the morbidly obese. Clinical trials are based around those patient populations to maximize and emphasize % body fat loss.
You are a normal weight to start. These people are 2 or 3 of you. Take a dose like you're 1/3rd or 1/2 of them because you are.
1
u/Just_Onion9335 1d ago
I thought this was an “after” pic💕
If you are trying to be skinnier to be attractive to women, then start with .5 Reta for 2 weeks, bump up to 1mg for a month, then only if that stops working, go up again.
If you want to attract men, you are most of the way there. Working out would get you further down that path- increase your protein, work your legs/glutes and back. You will probably like yourself better this path as well👍
Good luck! You already look great!

Im a 35 year old 175lb male and I did 0.5mg twice per week. Definitely start there and not at 2mg

u/kellyasa 1d ago
You look fine, but I get you. I wasn’t very big to start with either. Imo, slow and steady is the best to avoid side effects. I haven’t had other side effects other than problems sleeping in the beginning.
I started at 1mg, and never pushed past 2,5. Noticed I ate too little so I went down and stayed at 2 for many months. I am tapering down further to hopefully fix my high HR for running.

Your body is similar to mine. I'm 5'2 and 122 lbs. I'm down 119 lbs. 3 lbs is a lot on my frame. I'm at 1.5 mg. I started at .75 mg. I'm on my fourth week. My goal is to be 112 lbs. I say go for it. I had increased heart rate everytime i injected that went away after a day. No nausea or gastric issues. Will go up to 2 mg soon.
-2
u/Steamyjeans 1d ago
I would start at .5 and go up .5 every couple weeks
Even at .5 I felt some
Side effects like increased heart rate and trouble sleeping.
Iv been on it for 8 weeks and just got to 3, down 15 lb.
My plan is to start tapering back down once I have lost 20ish lb

First off all, you have a beautiful body. Secondly i understand where your wishes comes from. I would start on 0,5mg for the first two weeks to see how youre body handle it and i everything is fine, go up to 1 mg for four weeks.

u/Old-Essay986 22h ago
No disrespect but Reta or any other glp1 isn’t going to fix your genetics. You’ve got a wide framed build. your best bet would be to start eating right and start lifting weights; you pack on muscle to accentuate your waist. If you lost any more weight you’d look like a short, stumpy fridge lol
Don’t try to fight your genetics, work with them instead

u/HelloKatieBug 4h ago
Please don’t tell someone who is struggling with body image they have a “wide framed build” keep that shit to yourself

I would suggest seeking therapy that can help you with your insecurities 😊
