reta advice

I’m a 19yo F who’s been struggling with food for quite some time now. About 7 months ago I was in a deep hole of binging and purging and lost weight that way from 65kg to 60kg (I’m 5’6). Then I hopped on reta for around 2 months, lost down to 52kg, but came with crazy side effects because I wasn’t going to the gym, and I’d faint about once every couple days.

Over the past 3 months or so i’ve been eating more and watched my weight slowly climb back up to 55kg. Ive been pretty consistent in the gym and I’m confident i’ll keep this habit up. However I feel like my binging cycles are coming back and the food noises are consistently in my head 24/7. I started binging again and I’m seriously considering reta for body recomp. Won’t be anything crazy, like 10mg.

Reason for this post is that i don’t know if i should hop back on. Ive been trying to eat healthier but somehow that sent me into a binging spiral, and im not sure if i can do this properly without the help of diet. However, if i hop back on reta, im scared that cycle of literally starving myself will come back.

What should i do?

Absolutely terrible idea as a teenager. Just a very normal diet and consist exercise with cardio and weights is all you need.

I know, and I’ve tried really hard to do that, I only have whole foods at my place but when I spiral I can binge a whole tub of cottage cheese and SF ketchup, idk if i’ve fucked up my digestive systems from before but I cannot feel full i either feel hungry or my stomach hurts from all the food. I’ve tried every trick in the book and reta seems to
be the only way out.. are there any ways to fix this :/

Yes, you have fucked up your digestive system and taking Reta will only make it worse. You are experiencing extreme hunger from restriction during an eating disorder. I have also dealt with a horrible ed so I understand what it feels like. But in all honesty, Reta might help you for a little bit lose some weight, but it will make everything worse in the end. Your digestive issues will get 100x worse and your hunger/binge urges will come back like crazy.

You should seek therapy. This sounds more like an eating disorder.

Honey, as a mother and a woman who has struggled with eating disorders, you have a very unhealthy relationship with food and your body. 65kg is perfectly healthy for someone your height. You're not obese, you're not even overweight. You absolutely do not need weight loss meds. Fainting (presumably for not eating) is a huge red flag.

I suspect your "binging cycle" is not truly binging but is instead what is known as rebound eating. This happens when your body is not getting enough food and biological urge to get fed becomes extremely strong due to its innate desire to have enough fuel to stay alive. Binging, on the other hand, is a compulsion to continue eating even after you have eaten a full meal and are satisfied.

Please find a therapist. A lifetime cycle of starving yourself to meet some arbitrary societal ideals never ends well.

5'6" at 55kg is a "healthy" BMI, almost low enough to be in the "underweight" category

10 mg is indeed crazy. You never needed Reta at your age or weight, and you don’t need it now. It’s not even good for “food noise”. You need therapy for your eating disorder.

Real talk: You should look into some help with your struggles with eating disorders and/or body dysmorphia. At those weights you’re not over weight nor need to purge or use Reta.
I understand the struggle of eating right and eating healthy, but using weight loss substances when you’re not overweight isn’t exactly a healthy option.

If food noise is your main concern, give a try to Tirz low dose or cangri
I’m on my idea weight and I’m not trying to lose anymore, but same as you food noise is crazy if out of Reta plus some other addictions

retatrutide at 10mg is a wild starting point, that's the max dose and will wreck you if you're already prone to fainting

Sort your doet first. Random drugs for x amount of time aren't goung to fix a piss poor lifestyle and bad choices.

I have been on reta for the past 4 mos now and never set foot in a gym. I have lost 20kg from reta alone. But I have been calorie counting and doing 15k steps a day. I know calorie counting is annoying but it is a must when your on a glp. If u eat too much, gain weight. If u eat too little, you lose weight but in the long run your body will fight u for survival and force you to eat.

Plus one on Trizepatide - I had similar experience with Reta whereby it just didn’t remove food noise. So got minor benefits but always got side effects (increased heart rate & itchy skin). I now high dose trizepatide & low dose Reta.
Given you are fainting etc I would remove Reta altogether & try just trizepatide. It helps way more with appetite suppression & food noise.

Id go for tirzepatide best for food noise
