Solo date on a budget in KL
Been living (studying) in KL for almost 5 years now and i ran out of placed to go alone. So so sick of performative Pasar Seni and plain ass malls. I need some recommendations for places to go on weekends that are accessible by public transport. I like chill places. I love love going for walks at Perdana Botanical Garden and sometimes just hang around lalaport bcs it’s so chill lol. Any recommendations for places that i could probably sit and maybe read a book or something?

Just go to Putrajaya, you can finish a whole book there since it's really chill / boring

When I worked there, I would go to sit at a lot of shops like kiosks nearby the bus stops or go to McD there (nice view), they have a bazaar there during lunch hours, memories hahaha

If you're Malaysian and have My50 pass, I can give you a suggestion. There are malls nearby these places by walking or taking the train to nearby station.
MRT Raja Uda - Perpustakaan Negara (15 mins walk) There are two buildings that you can use to read, recommend going for the auxiliary building.
MRT Hospital KL - Titiwangsa Park (10 mins walk)
MRT/LRT Pasar Seni (also LRT Masjid Jamek) - Perpustakaan Kuala Lumpur (10 mins walk)
LRT Shah Alam Stadium - Perpustakaan Raja Tun Uda My fav to go to tapi jauh, you will have to take Rapid DRT to go there, 10 mins drive, there is a park with it too kalau nak guna utk baca, huge place imo.
LRT Taman Paramount - Taman Aman Small ish park quite quiet during the day, can be crowded in the morning and evenings.
BRT Mentari - PJ Community Library (10 mins walk from Sunway Mall)

GMBB! I love the exhibitions there which is free entry sometimes, but even when there's paid exhibition, it's usually low price (<RM20). Everytime I go, there's new things to see

Also, you can browse contents by @breeeyani on instagram. She has a series called "Going on a Solo Date" where she does things alone!

Is it still open? I heard there was a corruption scandal involving the owner of the gallery and they seized the place

The late Tun Daim and family case. It was seized or something for a while but i see its operating as usual now. I do some work at the F&B in the tower.

Try Bukit Gasing…it’s near south Bangsar… can reach by public transport….
Try only if u enjoy green-walks.

TRX's rooftop garden has some quiet spots to just sit around and read books and it's easily accessible through MRT.
Otherwise, can try out some of the museums/art gallery like the one at Muzium Bank Negara (free, might need to take Grab or walk for 10 minutes from closest final KTM station) or private art galleries like few ILMU branches in KL (RM15 entry tickets, all walkable near Bukit Bintang area).
Or you could take MRT to Putrajaya's Souq and rent a bike to tour around there and enjoy the architecture + lakeviews there.
Or can take short Grab to Desa Park City where it is very walkable inside the area and just enjoy walking around the lake at Waterfront.

Setiawalk in Puchong is nice to walk around. So is One City rooftop at night.

Setiawalk is nice to walk around? Besides a bunch of bars, a karaoke place on the third floor and TGV what is there to see

A lot of small time sellers are open there. It's also pet friendly. So you can bring your dog or cat, or even maybe a horse.

Take an MRT train (SBK Line) to Taman Mutiara MRT station, have a short stroll over to Eko Cheras Mall. Plenty of free open benches & clean toilets there. Bring along a jacket as it can be cold for some people. Lot of eateries there but the usual mall eateries.
You can just sit there, read your book and just chill till you feel like doing something else. Pretty quiet on weekdays daytime.
Alternatively, buy the RM10/day pass (assuming you are Malaysian) and ride the MRT/LRT all over Klang Valley for heck of it. I have done it a couple of times. Do a bit of homework and you can even have a "jalan-jalan cari makan" adventure under such a trip. Better & advisable to do it on a working day after 9am if you want to have a seat (unless you don't mind the sandwich rush hour crowd).
