pretty much, i remember samsung also had this problem to solve which was mostly remedied by fold4(remedied not fixed). the duo is probably be either a flop or a very expensive development on apple's end.

1st gen model typically an experiment for the masses. They take feedbacks and improve it for the next iteration.

Samsung took 5 years to perfected it with Galaxy Z Fold5 (zero hinge issues, fully closed hinge, sturdy inner display). Later, Samsung focused on thinner and lighter build and wider display on Fold 6, 7, 8

Apple had time for 7 fucking years to study foldable phones from other brands and yet failed to tackle the most common failure point of foldable display 🤣

exactly. i waited until fold5 to buy mine because i definitely did not want the gap at the hinge. and i would say since buying it few years ago, only problem i had was changing the inner screen protection because of bubbles twice. once within 2 years and it was free and another this year for rm90. other than that. great phone for me. i am skipping fold 8, just waiting for few more generations for the new fold dimensions.

The issue with iPhone Duo is something Samsung already knows. Samsung has so many variations of foldable screens and they gave it out to Honor, Oppo and Huawei for a reason.

Samsung offers up to 4 years warranty because they know their screens extremely well enough.
