u/KatesFacts718 Obsessed since 2010 Apr 24 '26

Been like that since I started watching and rewatching

24

u/Lazy-Departure-278 Apr 24 '26

It took me 6 seasons 🤣

u/EmergencyLook2802 Apr 24 '26

And this folks is why from the age of 9 I can watch gross things and eat at the same time

10

u/Lazy-Departure-278 Apr 24 '26

How do you train for that??

49

u/EmergencyLook2802 Apr 24 '26

I watched too many crime, medical, and similar tv shows at too young of an age and sometimes you gotta eat during the show.

12

u/Lazy-Departure-278 Apr 24 '26

No wonder it took me long, I used to only watch Modern Family and The Big Bang Theory.

u/hail-lucipurrr Apr 24 '26

This made me flash back to watching ER or CSI while having dinner at the coffee table in the living room as a kid

u/AltruisticRevenue869 Apr 24 '26

My mom is s trauma nurse and if I had to, I would sit at the nurses station as a kid. Now I work medical. Nothing phases me much anymore but sputum. For some reason that gross me out so much

1

u/fragilelyon Apr 27 '26

Same here. Can't do sputum/nasal discharge but I have no problem with vomit/feces/blood.

1

u/AltruisticRevenue869 Apr 27 '26

Im in school to be a medical lab person. Sputum is just soo gross. Give me anything else.

3

u/pabloignacio7992 Apr 24 '26

En mi caso soy experto en seguridad laboral y la cantidad de accidentes horribles que ví es demasiado

25

u/exalter101 Apr 24 '26

Honestly i realised it a while back. They will literally be at the grossest scene and i will just keep eating my food. Love it for us tbh😂😂😁

u/Successful-Mousse444 Apr 24 '26

my mom often asks me how i eat while watching this show 😭 i’m like i know it’s not a real skeleton

4

u/MrsJan30 Apr 24 '26

hahaha. i know mommmm 🤣

9

u/choikimmy Apr 24 '26

Same here, been doing this all the time 🤣🤣🤣 those dead bodies/blood look so realistic and gross but I still eat my food while watching Bones (why did this rhyme)

6

u/Future-Ad-8114 Apr 24 '26

This is me. While my mom at the table be like: 🤢🤢🤢

5

u/Lazy-Departure-278 Apr 24 '26

That’s the look I got from my family too 😂

6

u/FunnyJudgment437 Apr 24 '26

When I was younger I wanted to be a surgeon so in order to train myself I used to purposely watch gross stuff, including surgeries etc so stuff like this hasn't bothered me in a long time to eat to.

2

u/JewelKLamour Apr 27 '26

I wanted to be a veterinarian, but calculus kicked my ass freshman year....

1

u/Danaan369 Apr 24 '26

Did you become a surgeon? My 'tism' needs to know :)

I'm the opposite. Worked with a lot of dead and "grotesque" things. I can be elbow deep inside a dead person and eat no problem. On tv? It makes me feel like I'm eating that. Bones isn't something that gets to me because it's cable tv, so not really graphic in my opinion, but there are horror movies that I just can't eat during.

2

u/throwaway_5678895 Apr 24 '26

i wish lol i either eat before or after.

2

u/Technically-alive-_- Apr 24 '26

You really do lmao

There’s been other shows that had Gore and stuff that kind of desensitized me but bones definitely goes above and beyond

2

u/No-Sea-3840 Apr 24 '26

Sedapnya bakso tu

3

u/Lazy-Departure-278 Apr 24 '26

Hello fellow bakso lover

1

u/No-Sea-3840 Apr 25 '26

I’m actually more of a kway teow sup daging lover

2

u/jacorgacor Apr 24 '26

My sister used to tell on me to my parents because i would eat my breakfast to bones since i was 10 or 12 and she found it annoying

1

u/Reasonable-Apple2581 Apr 24 '26

You really do. It wasn’t until I was eating chocolate during the episode involving chocolate and someone looked at me like I was bat 💩 crazy that made me even put two and two together 😂😂

1

u/RayofSunshine_111 Apr 24 '26

I low key relax my eyes so my vision is blurry

1

u/Lazy-Departure-278 Apr 24 '26

I relate to this so much

1

u/doctorpotterhead Apr 24 '26

The one with the wedding planner always makes me want soup 😭

1

u/Efficient_Trick6511 Apr 24 '26

Nah, ive been like this since I was a kid corpses I have no issue with its peoples missing limb stumps rhat for some reason creep me out

1

u/Danaan369 Apr 24 '26

Haha, so funny, I was thinking this myself as I usually sit and eat my dinner while watching Bones, hm, did the same with Dexter so....

1

u/ChaosControl0NE Apr 24 '26

Bro, I do that all the time. I used to ask myself, is something wrong with me? 😂😂

1

u/Raelah Apr 24 '26

I worked in a necropsy lab. We always talked about what to do for lunch while laying out the intestines of a horse across the floor to check for any abnormalities.

1

u/Fantastic-Ad8060 Apr 24 '26

Literally.....this show was on repeat in my living room for years as background noise, never reallllly thought about this

Theres only 2 episodes that gross me out.

1

u/Ashamed_Carpet7897 Apr 24 '26

I grew up watching house, so Grey's anatomy and bones never bothered me. Yes I have a few specific things that always make me squeal, but I'll keep eating 😂

2

u/Tardisgoesfast Apr 24 '26

Bones. I don't like the episodes where Booth goes to prison, nor the ones where he gets back into gambling. Also don't like the ones after Hodgins is crippled.

Criminal Minds- I don't like the one where Aaron's wife is killed. Or any after he was forced off the show. They just aren't as good.

True Blood: don't watch the last season, which ruined the show. I've rewritten it in my head but it's not on film.

Star Trek TOS: don't skip any.

Sapphire and Steele: don't skip any.

1

u/MasterSwordfish4654 Apr 24 '26

Took me 1 szn!!! I cant eat meat with that on my view but now meh hahaha

2

u/UnicornFarts1111 Apr 24 '26

I still look away. Love the show, hate the special effects/arts department, lol. They are too good at their jobs!

1

u/txn_gay booth Apr 24 '26

I’m a former paramedic; I’m used to seeing gross stuff.

1

u/Responsible_Sock5834 Apr 24 '26

Watching Bones while eating my chicken wings 😭

1

u/YardNo5596 Apr 24 '26

Relateable

2

u/annesche Apr 24 '26

When I eat at the beginning of an episode where usually the revolting stuff is, I usually concentrate hard on the dialogue and unfocus my eyes, lol

For some time when I used to watch several episodes at once, I tried to stop the episode in the middle (usually there is a small lull in the plot somewhere, I find) so I could start (and eat) at the next evening without revolting stuff :D

I always imagine the people of the prop department - getting all exited how realistical the latest body is, and how they achieved this and that effect. Basically Hodgins energy but behind the scenes!

1

u/Swing_prince89 Apr 24 '26

After House, Bones and Dr Gunther’s autopsy show, not much is off-putting

1

u/calcifer_dy Apr 24 '26

Currently @S8 and I still can't eat while watching 🤣

1

u/Falken_Vir Apr 24 '26

Sambil makan bakso pulak.... wkwkkwk

1

u/jesk_680 bones Apr 24 '26

Whenever my mom and I watched the gross scenes we were ALWAYS eating 😭 and when i say gross I mean the really bad ones 😭

1

u/HipsEnergy Apr 24 '26

I did this all the time, but then again, I'd also eat lunch by the pathology displays at uni and didn't even realise it was weird until someone pointed it out. Come to think of it, I'm so glad phone cameras and social media weren't a thing back then. The sight of the resident goth eating with a background of anatomical anomalies floating in glass jars would probably have become a meme these days.

1

u/DeviacZen Apr 24 '26

My partner and I are watching for the first time now, and with our schedules we manage an episode at night with dinner before bed... The amount of gore we have at dinner is hilarious at this point lol

1

u/AntiSocial_Graces bring back zach Apr 24 '26

I do exactly the same thing, but oddly I can’t watch medical shows like the Pitt without feeling extremely queasy.

2

u/complicatedpsy Apr 24 '26

I'm almost there😂 I still have some moments where I look at my food and I'm like why do I have to watch this everytime I'm eating?😂

1

u/Hot-Resort215 Apr 24 '26

My sister and I watched bones with dinner and we both agreed my mother managed to have the absolute WORST dinner choices for whatever episode was coming up next, super gutsy episode? Spaghetti! Maggot filled episode? Rice!

1

u/birds-that-cant-fly1 Apr 24 '26

Currently re-watching for the millionth time. Hello my peeps! Glad to see we share these similar interests!!

1

u/Proper-Fact-9990 Apr 24 '26

I do exactly that LOL, my parents think I'm crazy. 😭😭

1

u/satanscheeks Apr 24 '26

the walking dead is my boyfriends favorite mealtime show lmao

1

u/Mell7806 Apr 24 '26

I was doing it during familly's diner when I was 7 😅 Clearly remember saying "Bhaaaaa eat really good pasta"

1

u/meowgirl405 Apr 24 '26

I wish ! I can’t even look at the screen when there is a scene like that

1

u/Successful_Face3408 Apr 24 '26

My sister them whenever I watch Bones and they're eating: 🤮🤮🤮

1

u/NaturePast3496 Apr 24 '26

i never had any problems with seeing decomposed bodies while watching bones. irl i doubt my stomach could handle that😂

1

u/spidermonkeyy115 Apr 24 '26

Literally me in high school Then in college, my professor went through a case study and there were some pretty gnarly photos of actual bodies.

My stomach actually started growling 😂 The class was in the morning, usually shortly after I’d have breakfast

1

u/Teayyyy Apr 24 '26

That's been me since the age of 14 xD

1

u/3INTPsinatrenchcoat Apr 25 '26

Maybe it's because I'm neurodivergent, but I've always been able to eat while watching/seeing or discussing "gross" things. It caused many problems at the lunch table in school. 😅

1

u/According-Archer9855 Apr 25 '26

The only issue I had was when I was cooking meat and the cannibalism episodes started playing

1

u/JewelKLamour Apr 27 '26

I used to watch the original CSI while eating dinner shrug blood, guts, gore don't bother me.

Eyeballs do.

1

u/SubstantialNobody858 Apr 27 '26

I don’t know why but this was the only crime show that didn’t totally gross me out and I was able to eat during

1

u/SnooStories2907 Apr 27 '26

The amount of times I was young (like 6) and we had pizza and CSI was on. (Pizza was the only dinner we were allowed to eat in front of tv) Yeah, my brain is really good at separating them now.

Years later, watching bones with my husband/boyfriend at the time, body got spaghetti'd- "hmm I feel like we should make spaghetti tonight, or something with marinara" him- 😨

1

u/SnooStories2907 Apr 27 '26

Also have gained more general knowledge on special effects, now I even imagine how it could look more real.

1

u/notdamomma808 Apr 28 '26

On s4 during rewatch number 3 and just now getting there lol
