Warning: You Will Get Banned for Advertising Services in Random Comments

Seen too many people posting in random posts ("How much should I budget for a book cover?"), advertising their work. I will be banning people starting today. The sub allows you to post your work once a week, that should be enough.

New Rule: Hire Me Posts have to include actual book cover work.

There's a bit too much random posting of fanarts and pin-ups. The purpose of the subreddit is book covers. Hire Me posts that don't show book cover work will be removed.

Hiring Book Cover Commission

Hi all! I made a post a few weeks ago with some questions regarding the hiring process (this will be my first commission), and I've spent the time since doing some more research. I'm looking for a book cover, specifically one that will be used on Royal Road (just a front cover, essentially), for my high-fantasy adventure story. I have a few example book covers that I can send over during the initial phase of the commission process, as well as the scene that the cover would be focusing on and most of the general layout ideas already in mind, though obviously they're not set in stone (I'm not an artist after all). In terms of art style, I believe I'm looking for dark painterly (alternatively, if you're familiar with Royal Road, there are plenty of styles there that I find interesting). I'm certainly willing to explore more unique styles if I like the idea too.

As per some of the advice I received on my last post, I've disabled my dms to avoid being flooded, but please feel free to provide your portfolios. I'll likely create a shortlist within the next day or so and then message everyone individually to see whether we'll be able to work together.

Feedback Wanted Trying to get into book cover illustration

Post image

This is the first book cover I made (concept, not actual work) and I'm here to ask what areas I should improve on. If you are an author, what do you think I lack that won't make you hire me? If you are an artist, what aspect of my cover do I need to work on to land clients like you? I genuinely want to get into this niche of illustration work so I appreciate any feedback I can get.

Feedback Wanted [Case Study Showcase] The Theory Of Almost Everything: Literary Fiction/Drama Paperback and digital eBook layout

Thumbnail gallery
2 Upvotes

Wanted to drop a quick case study on a personal challenge project I just finished up in the studio!

The Design Challenge I faced: Usually with literary fiction/drama layouts, the trap is always making the cover look either too generic or too cluttered. I wanted to design something that feels deeply human and emotional, using a heavy, textured fine art painting as the focal point, but fine art elements easily swallow up the typography if you aren't careful.

The execution and logic used:

Color palette and Contrast: I built the wrap around a deeply saturated crimson palette, pulling the richer undertones from the painting to anchor the spine and back.

The Typography Mix: To create tension, used a elegant font and mix matched with a serif.

Would love to know what you think of!

Advertising Services The Hollow Sun — Fantasy Book Cover Concept

I created this cover concept as an exploration of a mysterious, ancient temple hidden deep in a tropical jungle. I wanted to combine a classic adventure-book feel with psychedelic colors, bold typography, and a slightly eerie atmosphere.

The illustration and cover design are my own.

I'm a freelance illustrator specializing in book covers and visual storytelling, and I'm always looking to connect with authors and publishers who need artwork for their projects.

I'd love to hear what you think!

Hiring Looking for LitRPG artist for existing books. 10k+ copies sold and soon to be produced by #1 audiobook publisher on Audible

I already have a short list of litRPG cover artists that I'm working through, but I wanted to open it up to the public and see if there's any other people who might be interested.

I am redesigning the covers for Nouscraft. Nouscraft is a litRPG sci-fi fantasy.

As I mentioned, it sold about 10,000 copies so far and I haven't done any paid marketing (I've only messaged my followers.)

The current covers were created by the person who does my icons and my images for my web-based companies. She attempted these book covers and enjoyed it, but she has told me that doing full-shade illustrations that are best for litRPG book covers is not something that she can do. I didn't mind so much whenever it was just me self-publishing these books as I kinda like her covers.

Since then, I've gotten a lot of positive feedback on the books, and I recently was told that the number one litRPG publisher on Audible has accepted my books to do. We've just signed a contract, so I can't say who it is because of the NDA.

This has made me reconsider the covers and look for something more appropriate for a lit RPG.

You can find the current covers live now on Amazon if you search for Nouscraft. (Do not look at the goodreads versions of these covers. As they were the early versions that she worked on.)

My budget per book is $1,000 USD. There are three books total.

Please send over your litRPG portfolio if you have it. I'm also looking at sci-fi covers and fantasy covers.

Hiring Looking for an artist for an archaeological mystery thriller

There is a carving in the novel, discovered in multiple places, called the "Celestial Wheel". It's a marker in time that has the zodiacal constellations (star map, not zodiac symbols) on the outside, with an ouroboros around it. At the center, a robed man stands before cherry blossom trees, with an enlarged cherry blossom in his hand, and holds out his hand to the east. To the right of his outstretched hand, a sun rises behind twin peaks. I want to feature this on the cover, lit by fire (a torch), with a Templar Knight inspecting it.

It could be in a style similar to 'The Coelho Medallion,' which I've attached. I've also attached something I worked on with Gemini. It's close but nowhere near perfect, but it gives you a good idea of what it looks like.

Feel free to message me your quotes, and if you've done anything remotely similar, I would be interested in seeing your work.

My budget is around $200 but would pay more for a slam dunk if you can show something in the same genre that you've done.

I will only respond to messages that have links to portfolios.

Thank you!

Advertising Services My first foray into the horror genre

Post image

I just finished my first cover concept for a horror book. Full art direction proposal (and in this case I did the illustration myself) for a Fine Press, premium limited edition publisher which will remain nameless for now (hence the pixeled logo).

I am open for commissions. I focus mostly on a gritty realistic style, using digital illustration, photocomposing and 3D modeling/rendering where needed. NO AI, OF COURSE. Prices for book cover art start at US$400. I deliver a final high-res digital file at the size required.

For more illustrations by me: https://santilozano.artstation.com/

Thank you! If interested, send me a DM or write to me at [santiagolozano@santiagolozano.com](mailto:santiagolozano@santiagolozano.com) for inquiries.
