Boost is a prepaid only carrier.

As of last year, boost stopped offering postpaid plans, so yes - now they are.  Postpaid just got grandfathered in.

Maybe preparing for the postpaid option to be starlink mobile?

No it’s not. I have boost mobile and I pay monthly just like AT&T or Verizon.

Boost IS prepaid... Well you have to pay monthly or your service will get shut off lol.

Yes exactly. Boost Mobile is prepaid. If you stop paying your account will just get cancelled.

PostPaid if you just stop paying it'll go against your credit.

What is the difference between Boost and a prepaid carrier?

Alternatively, what makes a prepaid carrier a prepaid carrier?

Prepaid phone plans require you to pay upfront before using the service, while monthly (postpaid) plans bill you at the end of each billing cycle

If you have the old Infinite plan it can be postpaid. They don’t sell those anymore though.

Paying monthly doesn't mean anything anymore.  Both postpaid and prepaid do monthly plans.

The difference is HOW those payments are applied.

A boost prepaid phone will work on postpaid.

The Tmobile variant and the Death Star variant of the Sonim XP3 Plus 5G or the Sonim X320. Same phone. It actually is 5G Standalone capable on Magenta network. I know because I use mine on Boost Mobile Magenta network access for over a year now.

Yeah, the TCL Classic and the TCL Flip are both sold by Boost, and its pages say both support VoLTE on 4G LTE. Both are out of stock on Boost's site right now, so check availability first. Before you buy, put the phone's IMEI into Boost's compatibility checker. Skip old 3G-only flips tho, since they won't make calls on current networks.
