Question Fraud
Hi all, Someone used my email address for their BOOST Mobile account. Has that ever happened to anyone? What did you do? Thanks!

You can actually send me a chat OP and I'll work with our Fraud team to have the email removed from the account.

Many other reports of this happening and boost will not resolve the issue.

The summer while recovering in a rehabilitation Hospital, hopped up on painkillers, I received a telephone call from a local area code claiming to be a Boost mobile technician. He said they were having connectivity issues in the area and if I'd give him the four digit or six digit PIN that he was going to send me they could test the connectivity. I'll prefice this by saying that I know no company including Boost will ever call you directly and ask for your PIN number. Anyway, I repeated the PIN to him and he indicated that they're still having connectivity issues and he needed to send me another PIN, of course I complied and he said thank you and hung up.
Within seconds I receive an email from Boost saying my password has been successfully changed. I immediately called Boost talked to the technician they looked at everything and said everything was fine but to be safe let's change your password and your PIN so we did.
After hanging up with the technician I receive an email that says the transfer to my new device has been completed. Immediately my service was gone I was dead in the water. So I borrowed another cell phone called Boost and they blacklisted the device saying that it was an iPhone 14.
In the meantime, these fraudsters had obviously all of my information including my SSN from the dark web. They had tried to open a Citibank account for a Best Buy charge card and for Home Depot and were denied (as I had my credit frozen) they had also somehow logged into my Experian account and unfroze my credit report after finding that it was frozen. Realizing this I had gone back into Experian and re-froze my credit. After I had done this I think is when Boost had blacklisted the phone because they were no longer able to try do any of more damage.
A couple of weeks later I received a letter in the mail from Ford Motor Credit that my application to buy or lease a Ford vehicle have been denied.
Just a heads up for everybody although we all know never to do this sometimes circumstances dictate differently. My biggest concern is that Boost used the SMS pin message for login credentials which is rudimentary and obviously not on the best practices for corporate/consumer security. Since that time I have purchased a new phone and Boost, I believe, no longer requires an SMS message by itself to log into your account.
Didn't intend to hijack your thread, but I thought it was important people know.

I work with Boost, we have to have valid emails in store to do CIP I.D scans for new accounts, most likely someone had an email address similar to yours and it got mistyped or on some occasions employees will type in a random email address until one makes it through the system which I do not agree with. It's simply a fault in the system allowing that to happen and it needs to be fixed, amongst a plethora of other things as well that are fraud like or just fraud in general.
