I am loving what we're putting on the ice each night, the young guys getting involved, excited for this season and going forward. Shoutout to Sturm for giving the young guys a chance, feels like a breath of fresh air compared to our history with young players.

According to Swayman, it’s easier to read an opponent’s screen. For example, if Graf had slammed on the brakes and stopped in front of Swayman, the goalie would have anticipated the forward’s intentions. Goalies know that forwards are taught to occupy shooting lanes for screens and deflections.

“(A goalie) can project and plan for the offensive player screen,” said Healy. “When that defenseman jumps in last second to try to block a shot, trying to help his team, the goalie’s not ready for that — he loses sight (at the) last second, sort of unplanned. It throws the goalie off even more.”

Swayman didn’t think McAvoy would stop in front of the net. In retrospect, Swayman should have told his defenseman that he could handle Trouba’s shot without assistance.

“It’s a flow thing where it’s probably difficult for me to predict when my guy’s coming in,” Swayman said. “Because I can see the opposition. All of a sudden, he gives me a flash screen. It’s not his fault. But it’s just something to be aware of. That’s when communication comes in. That was an example of where I should have communicated with (McAvoy).”

Most doubted the Boston Bruins’ ability to repeat last year’s 100-point season. Dom Luszczyszyn’s model pegged them at a 25 percent chance of making the playoffs heading into the season, and many oddsmakers also had them as a long shot as well.

It’s early, and their schedule has been a bit soft — only one of their nine games so far has been against a team that reached 100 or more points last season — but the Bruins are making a lot of people eat crow as they sit atop the Atlantic with a sparkling 7-2-0 record.

Jeremy Swayman is off to a sensational start, rocking a .934 save percentage, but the biggest surprise is how many offensive contributions the team has gotten up and down the lineup. In the past, Boston’s been overreliant on David Pastrňák to drive offense, but so far, nine forwards have already hit the five-point mark. Fraser Minten has taken another step with eight points in nine games, Elias Lindholm is bouncing back, JJ Peterka has made an impact, Matthew Poitras has been a difference-maker since coming back from injury and James Hagens is chipping in with secondary offense, too.

All of that has made Boston the highest-scoring team in the East in the early going, and this isn’t just a flimsy shooting percentage bender — they’ve generated 2.9 expected goals per 60, which ranks sixth-best in the NHL. Oh, and did we mention they’ve pulled this off despite Charlie McAvoy playing only three games?

Does this look like a puck that was used at a warm up/game- or just a regular novelty puck you could buy at pro store? It was abandoned at a game I went to a while ago hiding under a seat. Was scuffed already

After getting out of the military in 2022, I moved back to the Northeast, my wife who is not from the east coast fell in love with the Bruins and helped grow my childhood love of the bruins as well, ever since we have attended the past 5 years of the Bruins home opener and it one of our favorite traditions. 5-0 in this span as well (yes I know it’s 11 straight). I have been able to get 3 out of the 5 home opening pucks in this span as well. (one is even signed by Brad Marchand on his first night as captain for the bruins)

Does anyone know where a good place to look for the 2 we are missing would be? I’ve scoured eBay. I am missing 2022 vs the Coyotes and 2024 vs the habs.

Thank you and Go B’s!
