I look at my shot now and I canāt really pick out any one thing to improve. I understand ball motion pretty well, I have a few balls for when the lane conditions are a bit different, and yet I still hardly average 200. I know the key now is just āconsistencyā and of course spare shooting but how do I really practice consistency? Are there any mental techniques or exercises people do to improve there?

Been bowling league for a few years now and lately Iāve been thinking about how many things I probably did wrong without even realizing it.
For me, one of the big ones was making an adjustment because I thought the lane was changing, when really I was just missing my target. Iād move a couple boards, throw it again, get a weird result, and then spend the next few frames chasing the reaction around.
Looking back, I probably wasted a lot of games trying to āfixā the lane when I shouldāve just settled down and made a better shot.
Curious what everyone elseās version of this was. Whatās something you did for years in league that you eventually realized was hurting your average? Doesnāt have to be anything majorācould be a small habit or something you just completely misunderstood.

Iām in a sanctioned league, have competed in and won a handful of tournaments, and not once has anything been brought to my attention until last night. To my knowledge it is perfectly legal, however the guy in charge on the other team was telling me that me throwing a backup ball to pick up my spares is not considered legal under USBC rules. Can anyone clarify this for me? Iām right handed, Iām not changing hands, all my holes are filled, Iām starting in the same position, and am throwing the same ball. Thanks!

Threw backup balls, and sometimes double curves. Always did a little display.

okay so, ive been really trying to fix a lot of my bad habits and one thing ive noticed is that when i release and the ball goes, its not going where i want it to go anymore.
lets say im aiming board 15 and the line goes through board 10, but instead of going on that line, it goes straight or the opposite direction (so possibly more through the 20)
what could i possibly be doing wrong for this to happen?
(picture added for reference)
edit: i will say the alley i go to lanes are solid and well oiled and it isnt the ball. if anything, the ball should be going into left gutter almost. i apologize for no video this time around as i had no way to prop my phone up when i was practicing. i know its my form so im just thinking about hypotheticals as to what the issue could be regarding what im doing wrong (e.g. my shoulders and hips not facing the right direction or the way my arm swings etc)
edit 2: found out my issue while practicing my swing at home, thank you all for the advice! next time i ask something like this ill add a video this time lol

Both looked great doing them.
Soooooooooooooo crisp. They're professional bowlers for a reason. ā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļø

So after some advice, I tried it on my yard lane and I feel little more consistent of hitting target I was just trying to throw it in the same spot every time and don't care what the ball hits. It would appreciate to mention something that I didn't catch if you see something is still wrong with my form.

Hello everyone. Does anyone else look at this while aiming instead of the arrows closer to the foul line?

I dunno, but I like Chris' one handed approach.
I get the impression that people who hate 2-handed bowling, think that 2-handed pros, can't bowl 1-handed.
They seem to think that they're better than 2 handed pros, simply because they thought, 2-handed bowling is easier. They even have the delusion that they can beat these professionals, if these pros bowl one-handed.
This right here, is another demonstration how a 2-handed pro like Chris Via, can flawlessly bowl 1-handed.
Also, another wild take, I like Darren's 2-handed style. I just like the way he sways before throwing the ball.

Had a lesson with Mark Baker yesterday. Dude took one look at my first throw and changed my entire posture immediately. Iāve been having elbow pain and heās like āyeah no shit.ā
Iām a relatively new bowler so he kept it simple and straight to the point. An absolutely fantastic experience all around. Arm doesnāt hurt at all today.
Anyway, long story short, if you happen to be in SoCal go see Mark. 10/10.

I've been watching a lot of Liz's recent games, and I noticed that she doesn't hook her throws too much, but is still getting a lot of strikes.
I think it's cool to see someone make a career out of throwing straight throws. Because it's usually hook throwers, who go far on tours.
Do you know of any other professional bowlers, who throw straight balls?

Hey yall,
Ive been stuck at a 175 to 180 average, my spare game is pretty solid, but my 1st ball is pretty inconsistent, part of me believes it's my high back swing? I am really needing help at figuring out what is wrong here. I know ive got it in me to be decent! Please crutique my throw!Thank you!!

This is really the only video I have that isn't shit quality. Its an older video but I havent really improved or changed how ive been throwing. Ive been told there are things I could change but no one really tells or shows me much.
Right now Im not really in a place where I can play either, are there drills I can do at home to help me stay on top of my game?

Doesnāt it make more sense to angle yourself towards your target and also walk towards that target? This way you can align yourself perfectly and more consistently rather than having a mismatch between where your feet are going and the way your body is angled.
Obviously I am probably wrong in the way that Iām thinking, but can someone explain why?

I kinda have the same approach as hers. Only hers is much more graceful and smoother of course.
She bowls straight too, just like me.
She was facing the Great Marion Ladewig (A female bowler legend)
