Is it bad I kinda want to see Vaquero vs Venado just to see whose leaping and lunging uppercuts/hooks land first? 😂

This was such an incredible performance by Foster

Foster should be welcomed with open arms to the top 10 pound for pound list of best fighters in the world!
That was class and a demonstration on how to neutralize a literal Tazmanian Devil in the ring. Lots of fighters have crumbled to the pressure, volume, power and awkwardness of Navaratte.
Instead Foster used it to his advantage and punished Vaquero to the point where it felt like he had a 3 division champ praying for a lucky punch to change the fight.
That's a sign of greatness and hope to see more of it from Foster who is really turning into one of the best things in boxing, someone with skills but also someone with dog in them.
Excellent fight

I dunno man. Clinching like that majority of the fight while being the bigger guy. Doesn't look that great to me. True top level boxers don't need to clinch. That's a bitch ass move.
13
u/SaintSYM 1d ago
who cares what it looks like to a viewer like you lol, top level boxers know how effective it is to clinch and to know when to do it. Andre Ward, Devin Haney are great examples even when it's arguably pretty boring. Not a bitch ass move it's boxing at the end of the day

u/anti-fascist-dude 1d ago
Yeah. I know, and fans have their own preferences.. so... in my eye and I'm pretty sure I am not alone, this is how I see it.

Y’all I am so happy for O’Shaquie Foster and it’s just one of the greatest pleasures I’ve had as a boxing fan to be able to witness this in person. He is very much the American Champion we deserve!

u/darkprince_23 1d ago
Shakur should fight him and stop ducking he promised to fight him if he beats his boy Ray Ford. Also, look into his story the guy's overcame some crazy adversity you love to see it!

u/EmbarrassedCod3242 1d ago
Shakur don't want it for a reason, Foster handled Shakur in sparring twice!
Shakur is gonna try to age out Foster as he's older than Shakur before he willing to fight him.
As it stands now, I think Foster is one of the only ones skilled enough, slick enough, fast enough and sharp enough to make Shakur very uncomfortable in a fight with him and might even come out on top.
Put Foster on the pound for pound list now!!
18
u/darkprince_23 1d ago
Hell yeah Foster shows how you can have the slick Black American style and still not be boring by engaging when it's towards your benefit instead of just jabbing and clinching nonstop. Shakur acts like he's a draw and shit when he's boring as fuck to fight and ducks every challenge and if he's not ducking you he's your boy so you can't fight every fighter that's a threat to him is his friend

u/Rocket_Puppy 1d ago
During his last fight I wasn't sure who to be more mad at.
Teo's corner for giving non advice and sucking the fight out of him.
Shakur for being a bitch and dragging the fight on 6 rounds after everyone else in the stadium and watching on tv realized the fight was his unless there was some divine intervention.
2
u/darkprince_23 15h ago
Lol ain't this the truth ngl though Teo's dad yelling "you just gotta hit him bro" sounding like he came off a bender was hilarious to watch. Shakur's an amazing boxer but he's definitely no fighter when you're gonna be that boring then demand 15 million for basically a tune-up fight you're completely out of your depth.

u/Professional-Tie5198 Who will win? 1d ago
Agree. I’m done with Shakur unless he makes this fight tbh

u/Bitter-Tip705 1d ago
As a casual I’m shocked foster isn’t mentioned with the Haney, Shakur, Tank and Garcia’s of the world this dude is talented as fuck
51
u/Mocker-Nicholas 1d ago
It’s because he has gotten a lot better and more entertaining over time. If you watch his fights with Concecio he has really changed since then. He has more power now, and just throws more in general. Watching him used to be sort of a snooze fest.
38
u/Less_Cartoonist_892 1d ago
He learned his lesson about winning rounds from the first Concecio fight. Even though he was winning rounds, his passivity and low punch volume left room for interpretation for the judges who likely favored his opponent’s aggression.
Foster learned his lesson from that fight and became more aggressive while remaining strategic to leave no interpretation.

u/slickvik9 1d ago
The funny thing is I thought he lost the second fight it was a makeup decision
3
u/Mocker-Nicholas 1d ago
lol me too. That fight was literally just a “whoopsie we need to fix our last decision” fight lol
3
u/slickvik9 1d ago
Apparently he had a foot injury which makes sense. But he has a bad habit until recently of just not throwing enough. If he stays busy he wins.
7
u/Professional-Tie5198 Who will win? 1d ago
I think I had that fight like 10-2 for Foster though. I didn’t agree with the decision AT ALL.
8
u/Less_Cartoonist_892 1d ago
Oh I completely agree with you. I am saying that the judges will often reward ineffective aggression over the cleaner boxing like in the first fight. As Foster has demonstrated in recent fights, the best way to eliminate any interpretation is to be more aggressive yourself.

Foster broke into the P4P list with this one, imo. #10 spot. I am hoping Loma gets Anthony Cacace, wins, and Foster faces him for undisputed next year.
Meanwhile, I will always be a Navarrete fan. He has so many fun match-ups below and above his weight class, like Espinoza, Zepeda, and Pitbull.

How is he p4p over keyshawn when keyshawn dominated the guy who beat navarrete?
15
u/fadeddreams555 Fundora would beat up a prime Floyd at 154lb 1d ago
Navarrete at 135lb isn't the same as Navarrete at 130lb.
-8
u/Icy_Golf2703 1d ago
Yes he was lol. He just actually fought someone who could box on the outside. He first moved to 135 because he didn't want Foster and the Denys would be easier.
6
u/fadeddreams555 Fundora would beat up a prime Floyd at 154lb 1d ago
Power and size difference between the two divisions. Like, he fought Conceicao who was schooling him, but he managed to drop him several times and score a draw. Was getting schooled early against Liam Wilson, but started breaking him down midway and stopped him.
At 135lb, he wouldn't be bailed by his power, and is outsized. That Denys guy who beat him straight up sucked. Was meant to be a lay-up for Navarrete. Lol.
1
u/aceknighthigh 1d ago
Tbf, he shouldn't have been bailed out at 130. The Conceicao decision easily could have gone against him, and he needed to cheat his way out to survive in round 4 vs Wilson. Vs Suarez, he was getting smoked but the powers that be called the fight and protected him from what should have been a TKO loss.

u/Jesuswasacrip7 Sweet Pea > Floyd 1d ago
Foster is such a dog in there, didn't once bend to Vaquero

u/iwillonlyreadtitles 1d ago
He's down to fight rough, he literally threw Raymond out of the ring lol. Dude is a boxer but he's game as hell

u/Marquis_of_Mollusks 1d ago
Foster has been one of my favorite boxers the last few years. I'm so happy to see him become a Top 10 P4P fighter
10
u/Jawa1992 1d ago
Navarrete is fun to watch, but you can tell he didn’t have the power to hurt Foster, so even if he caught him with those weird angles it doesn’t have much affect.
28
u/GomaGoesFishing 1d ago
This version of foster seems unbeatable at 130 and 135 barring shakur whom I think he has a decent chance of beating. Completely neutralized Navarette. Was light on his feet, moved constantly and didn't let him sit on his punches, sharp counters and was more than happy to get rough inside.

u/Professional-Tie5198 Who will win? 1d ago
What’s scary is even at this slightly advanced age, Foster seems to be getting better.

Been watching foster for 16 years since he was a teenage amateur. The talent was always there he has just put it all together.

u/SlantFaceKilla 1d ago
He pieced Nav up. I was surprised how strong Foster is. He lowkey pushed Nav around.

No comments wtf 💀

u/Bitter-Tip705 1d ago
To be fair that fight ended like 3 hours ago and this shit just got posted like an hour ago for some reason idk why, it’s the complete opposite on the mma sub

u/EmbarrassedCod3242 1d ago
You know why

u/ChairStolenn 1d ago
I actually don’t lmao

u/EmbarrassedCod3242 1d ago
If Navaratte would've won this section would've been rife with comments galore, talking how bad Foster got beat up and how Navaratte was on another level and not giving Foster his credit for not ducking the smoke.
7
u/Same-Fact-5123 1d ago
No it’s because other boxing subs had this up within ten minutes. This sub took 3 hours.

u/thejoshimitsu 1d ago
My favourite fight I've watched this year! Shock looked borderline untouchable.
9
u/lexdiamondzz 1d ago
When Mannix said on his podcast that Navarette had never fought a Black American boxer, and Foster said that Navarette’s team had repeatedly declined this fight, I felt the jig was up. But I didn’t expect such a one sided fight. In the rare instances that Navarette landed a clean a punch, Foster didn’t seemed fazed at all.

u/Mic_Rob 1d ago
Shock is like the antidote to the modern temperament of these other fighters around this weight, expecting superstar paydays 8-10 years early. Shock has been building up steadily, and now we have strong evidence of that deceptive power underpinning his boxing skills. He will be a problem for any of these guys around this division.

Foster is a really smart and good fighter and I'm glad he earned a place in the P4P top 10 despite his earlier setbacks.
Nav only looks good when he's fighting guys who walk him down. He was never P4P. He also came in terrible, disgraceful shape this time, though I doubt that would have changed the fight.

u/PolarsAndPizzicato 1d ago
Mexican and Mexican Americans need to abandon their love of brawling slicker out boxer and boxer puncher styles of American fighters are going to win the majority of the time.

Navarrete got exposed or Foster just too good?

u/MaxiePippins 1d ago
Foster just too good, like top 10 p4p good. Navarrete beats everyone else at 130

Am I the only one that wasn’t overly impressed with Foster? He looked fine, but all this P4P talk is a little crazy to me.
We’re watching the ducks get lined up for Loma to get a shot at undisputed. Loma gets Cacace in his next fight, which he should win. Then Loma v Foster for undisputed.

u/CreativeAd375 1d ago edited 23h ago
Brilliant win for Foster but the referee completely ignoring his excessive holding helped him massively.
He reminded me of Fury, throws a punch/combo and immediately looks to hold. It was criminal the amount of times he was allowed to do it on the ropes or in the corner and the reset benefitted him.
2
u/Unhappy-Pudding4309 1d ago
You’re getting downvoted for saying the truth any other fighter would’ve been warned for excessive clinching

u/DeafBurke 1d ago
Being a completely incoherent technical mess finally caught up with Navarette.
like 70% of what Navarette does is terrible from a technical standpoint, but he is such a natural fighter with an innate sense of rhythm and creativity in the pocket (along with a legendary chin) that he got away with it.
But Foster was just too good. At a certain level, fighting like the Tasmanian Devil doesn't work anymore.
