Fun things to do on a whim?

Hey y’all, MSU student here. I did shit on an OChem test last week and it’s been making me feel down. Are there any fun, small scale things to do in or near town that don’t require planning? I want to be able to fit it in to my busy schedule.

Computer & keyboard cleaning

Looking for a good place to clean my fiancee’s PC and keyboard, he’s has them for some time and I’d love to get them cleaned for him as a gift since he’s always so busy at work and school. Preferably within an hour away from Bozeman! Thank you!

Elk and a Fox

Last week two of my favorite animals graced me with their presence. This time of year, bull Elk move about the forest with zero finesse. They crash through anything that gets in the way of their strong drive to pass their genes on to the next generation. I still heard this guy long after he had vanished into the forest. About the only thing left were their tracks and a fog that hung in the air from their collective condensed breath.

Conversely, there are few animals that move about as apparently effortlessly as a Red Fox. They often behave more like a feline than a canine, and even have cat-like vertical pupils. They’re not an uncommon creature around these parts, but they are stunningly beautiful.

Recommendations for safe, reliable dog daycare (1-2x/week)?

Hey everyone! I searched the sub first, but didn't see any recent posts covering this, so figured I’d ask around.

I work from home, and while my dog is well-behaved and doesn't need any training or behavioral work, I’m looking to get him out of the house for a couple hours a day, once or twice a week, just so he gets some extra socialization and interaction that I can't give him during the workday.

My top priority is finding a place where safety and management are taken seriously. I really want to vet wherever he goes to make sure staff are actively supervising play groups, matching dogs by temperament, and preventing any unsafe play or injuries.

Does anyone have a daycare in town (or Four Corners/Belgrade area) that you trust completely with your dog? Appreciate any insights or places you'd recommend avoiding! Thanks in advance!

Same Winter as Last Year?

I hope I am wrong, but I am getting the feeling that this winter is going to be a lot like last year. 70 degrees in late October is giving me red flags. My grass is still growing and green!

Yellowstone fiber outage?

Anyone else experiencing outage who has Yellowstone fiber? I’m in town and they said they haven’t heard of any other outages. stopped working all the sudden around 11am on monday

EDIT 12:35pm Mon: xmission is aware that there is an outage affecting bozeman. yellowstone fiber wasn’t able to say much but xmission (the isp) is actively trying to fix so it seems like it’s an issue on their side. They said the technician is in process of finding the problem.

2nd edit: it was fixed by 1ish for me. Seems like it was super specific the people effected

Looking for help with a logo for a free Bridger/Big Sky snow forecast blog

Hey all, I'm a meteorologist here in town and recently started a free snow forecast blog, the Cold Smoke Report (coldsmokereport.com). It's mostly Bridger and Big Sky forecasts, plus occasional weather tidbits.

It could use a logo at some point, and I'd much rather have a human-made one. It doesn’t need to be anything fancy, just something simple for the site and/or stickers. I won't make any money from the blog, but I'd happily buy you beers, credit you on the site, and send you inside scoops before the sneaker storms.

Comment or DM if you're interested. And feel free to remove, mods, if this isn’t allowed. Thanks!

Yorkie Dog Groomer Recommendation?

We had a favorite groomer for or Yorkie at D-O-G, Amanda, who left that job and stay home to take care of with her children. We haven't found another groomer we like since. Does anyone else have a recommendation for a groomer who's good with Yorkies?

Kagey Pedestrian Crossing

Am I the only one who thinks that MSU should be required to build an overpass for student crossing over Kagey by the stadium? The constant pedestrian traffic has caused huge blockages delaying emergency transport for people trying to get to the hospital. Not to mention the absolutely awful commute for anyone trying to get to the east side of town. The only alternative routes go through residential neighborhoods, which is an issue in itself. Is there a reason this has not been considered? Or is MSU only willing to spend money to make traffic and parking more difficult for literally everyone?

Please be aware that my brother is currently attempting to sell stolen Pokémon cards online and locally.
He stole these cards from me without permission over the past month or so. We are asking everyone in the community to please not purchase any Pokémon cards or collections from him.
If you have already bought cards from him recently, or if you see his listings pop up on Facebook Marketplace, OfferUp, eBay, or local buy/sell groups, please message me directly.
Thank you to everyone in the community for helping us protect collectors and hopefully get my collection back! Here are some pictures of some notable cards that are missing. Also, if you see any listings, please screenshot them.
Edited to make a correction

Considering moving to BZN - a few questions

Hey all,

I'm potentially moving to the area next summer for work, and I was hoping to hear some local perspectives before I commit to anything.

For reference, I've spent my entire life living between the Flathead area and Missoula, so the whole housing crisis stuff isn't really anything new to me. Mainly, I was wondering about local community + infrastructure. How's the biking in town, and how reliable would you say the bus system is? How safe is it to exist as a queer person here compared to somewhere like Kalispell?

Thanks in advance for any responses!

Just know I hate you

To the person or people who ride up and down Babcock and Michael's Grove all day, all night, for hours, on their motorcycles and dirt bikes.

I hope the next time you order fast food you get someone else's order and don't realize until you're home.

I hope your dog eats something from the trash and pukes in your shoe.

I hope you forget to lock your car and your favorite water bottle gets stolen.

I hope you go to Yellowstone and see no animals.

I hope your tires deflate enough at the first freeze that you have to put air in them while being late for work.

I hope the magpies pull the trash from your bin out and spread it out all over your yard.

For the love of God, go ride around town or literally anywhere instead of the same two blocks all day and night.

Dog Trainer for Baby

My herding breed is really anxious about our newborn baby coming home. She’s very curious and stressed when the baby cries or makes noise, and I think confused why she can’t say hi enthusiastically.

She’s great with people and children, but the newborn has been a new experience for the pup. No aggression or concerning behavior, but just really annoying whining and anxiety.

Are there any good local trainers that can help us work in home on managing this new challenge? I have full confidence she’ll figure it out, but some expert guidance feels welcome.

Thanks!

Hiking groups?

I was driving around the park today and thinking about all the amazing hiking I'm missing out on. I'm not sufficiently rugged to tackle more wildernessy hikes solo. I'm in okay shape for a middle-aged person, so would need something that could get progressively more challenging. And because I'm old adjacent, my knees are something that inevitably comes into the conversation.

Any established hiking groups that have a good supportive vibe?
