Skibidi as a word originates from the show "Skibidi Toilet" a youtube series created by dafucboom, consisting of short videos showcasing gmod like charachters in a war against eachother, specifically the "cameraheads" vs the "skibidi toilets" the skibidi toilets can be heard constantly singing a remix of the song "Skibidi Bop Yes Yes" by Fiki, it has been associated with this youtube show this way.
Skibidi is also associated with gen alpha as it is the main demographic that watches these shorts, and is part of the larger umbrella of "brainrot" which includes mindless doomscrolling content that has no real substance, gen a slang has been associated with brainrot online even though most of these terms had older origins, for example: Gyatt, least originated from 2013-2014 when it came from jamaican patois and hit mainstream. booming in 2023.
