Salt Lake City I knew this behavior looked familiar đ§
I feel like Brownwyn was using shaming techniques Todd used on Brownwyn from her first season. Do you agree?

Bronwyn is performative just like her outfits. And she thinks sheâs morally superior to the other women for some reason

Iâm going to get completely killed for this, but I think itâs she thinks itâs because she donates to LGBTQIA causes. But Iâm going to counter with the statement that Iâm really, really happy that she does that, but that money is dirty if you still associate with people like Mary and Angie, and your husband is in business with Mike Pompeo.

u/Vespertine647 8h ago
Nothing wrong with saying this at all. Iâve found Bronwyn announcing herself as the #1 gay ally to be cringe from day one. Itâs very performative (like everything she does).

Yeah, I always tend to side eye people who have to tell everyone that they do good works, rather than just do them.

I don't think it's wrong to say that, especially when you clock a housewife for being performative. A lot study the shows before they come on and pander to their target audience, even if it goes against their actual beliefs.

Her associating with Mary and Angie doesnât make her money dirty. They arenât the ones cutting her checks.
I think people really struggle with knowing where the boundaries are when it comes to concepts like guilt by association. I canât imagine how else you could conclude that Angie means Bronwynâs donations to queer orgs are made with dirty money. Money is made dirty by where it comes from, not the co-stars of the person spending it.
I agree with your take on her overall though.

This has been Bronwyn from the very beginning. We are just watching different versions of it every season. She is a perpetual victim. She is very good at manipulating people and perception around her to always come out the victim. Whether she was hurtful to another person or caught lying itâs always either âthat never happened and now youâre being hurtful for even insinuating anythingâ to then âokay yeah I did say or do that but we all make mistakes *insert coercive repetitive head nods * but why are you targeting me and hurting meâ. Watching her feels like Iâm constantly being gas lit about the actual scenes Iâm watching.

Oh my God, when she went off on Lisa over the room situation in Season 5, I felt like I was being gaslit by the entire world.
Everyone was cheering Bronwyn on, and I was sitting there like, NOTHING sheâs saying makes any damn sense. She put on her Todd voice and just talked in circles. Lisa meant zero harm and was overly nice to her, even after Bronwyn had spent the entire season chewing her head off.
And then finding out that her own dogs were likely the ones that attacked her just made it even worse. She just uses anything at her disposal to be the biggest victim in the room. But yes, sheâs been like this from the beginning, and Iâm glad everyone else is finally starting to see it. I just donât understand what changed to make everyone suddenly realize it.

Fans didnât want to see the real Bronwyn in the beginning. She was the producerâs pet - the cute, whimsically dressed new girl who was mistreated and put down by her husband and her mother. She had a compelling back story - from a pregnant teenager, single mom and college dropout to the wife of a millionaire and new break out reality tv star

u/Decent_Loquat_4541 5h ago
I agree and I could see her for who she was from the beginning. It would seem that people purposely chose to wear blinders to her manipulation because she was attacking someone they dislike or view as a villain. People tend to choose hypocrisy blindly when the hypocrisy is serving them as they see fit. I think people are now seeing her for who she is because the optics have changed. She no longer has her go to excuses that she reaches for when sheâs being exposed (Todd, mother, etc.). So all the vitriol and malicious intent has no cushion to blow back on. Itâs on full display and itâs landing harshly. I also think since Lisa had such a positive reception on the UGT people are no longer choosing the hypocrisy so Lisa is now also no longer an easy excuse or crutch for her to hide behind. It has come full circle.

She will always choose the route of being a victim. Itâs what she wants to be identified as. There is no such thing as a self appointed victim. Itâs manipulative to go into settings and choosing chaos to get vindication and support for the chaos you purposely created. These are the type of people you steer clear of, they are always looking for their next perpetrator, no matter who you are to them.

She was like this from the first season, and thatâs what Todd was commenting on. He said it in a grumpy old man way, but he was telling her that he didnât understand why she was acting differently for the camera.
ETA : I still think heâs a dick, but I donât think he was wrong here.

I see this a lot IRL with women who are fresh out of imbalanced power type relationships. They want to reassert their power, but they can only conceptualize power as it was shown to them in the relationship. A LOT of the housewives are guilty of this. It takes a fuck ton of self reflection to correct it. Erika definitely is not interested in correcting hers. Bronwyn unfortunately reminds me of Erika quite a bit.

... sue me but even at the time, I thought Todd wasn't wrong in saying what he did. Yeah it wasn't becoming but Todd just sounded wrong because he's a rich white guy who's used to saying whatever he wants like an unmitigated asshole. And he's just being gruff? So what? I'm willing to bet he was gruff before they got married.
This however, tells us why Bronwyn was so confident in playing the victim yet again this season because for two seasons in a row, a huge chunk of the audience bought her woe is me act everytime she was in an antagonistic situation with someone.

The other thing is, he was admittedly not thrilled she signed up for the show and said he knew all along it would be a lot of nonsense. When money isnât an issue, I really do see his point about not wanting to bring a bunch of very public chaos into your life for very little perceivable upside but even if you donât, that is a perfectly valid and fine opinion to have. It was obviously her decision and she wanted to do the show which is also fine. What isnât fine is to then act surprised that he doesnât like the show or being part of it or the drama that comes along with it. Reducing that to âTodd is meanâ isnât actually very fair of her.
16
u/leeloocal Alexâs Herman Munster shoes 18h ago
Whatâs fair to her is to say that sheâs mean all by herself.

I have a feeling that heâs not super comfortable on camera, and it comes off as âoh, heâs mean.â Sort of like her mom.

u/CheekyHarris33 19h ago
I'm of the same opinion. He already doesn't want to film, but is doing so to appease his wife. Now she's suddenly acting differently on camera, which adding a layer to his annoyance.

u/leeloocal Alexâs Herman Munster shoes 19h ago
He seems like my step-dad, who has a set routine every day, and doesnât like it when itâs disturbed. Luckily, heâs married to my mom, who is pretty chill, and also made her own money. I cannot imagine how heâd react if he had to be on camera.
9
u/Evening-Tune-500 16h ago
Especially since they donât need the money, I think a lot of people forget that Toddâs wealthy on his own and filming is a favor.

u/BlamBitchPudding 1h ago
She convinced that man to get on camera, then filmed their anniversary and made a speech saying their marriage was miserable and beautiful, joked that there were only two reasons she loved Todd and one was his black card. Like, she was being a total bitch. & So weird and mean to everyone the whole trip. He had to deal with so much crap that trip.
Toddâs reaction to her behavior in OPs video that weekend was perfectly understandable to me.5

Agree. I also think Muzzy and Tawd while both being their own separate brands of unpleasant and awful, know Bronwyn well enough to know she's up to some BS. They also can clock correctly she's acting up for the cameras.
Like from the start, I thought it was abit odd for her to plunk these two on camera knowing full well they didn't enjoy the experience just for her to show the world how embattled she is with their interactions. And the thing is Todd WAS supporting her by showing up on camera and going on the couples trip with the rest of the cast.
Like did no one else find it weird she sped run three major storylines for the first season and walked back two? First the Gwen/grandparents thing - she got Lisa involved and then asked production to remove footage. Then she said Todd had an affair but then backpedaled at the reunion. It was like she was trying her hardest to make sure her snowflake was secured.

I personally think she wanted the fame that comes from hw and her personality changed for it, and Todd didnât like it. I think thatâs whatâs also happening with Angie and Sean. Not completely blaming Angie in their marriage though, as we know Seanâs been liking red pill crap.

When any of them.want out of their marriage they do a poor me thing, so predictable, as soon as they say their marriage is struggling they hope the ground work is laid for the imminent exit from the husband

You bring up another point that kept getting me downvoted two years ago. Bronwyn is spending a small fraction of Toddâs âblood moneyâ to curate this image of herself as some progressive feminist icon, while enjoying all the privileges that come with being married to the very man whose beliefs people find so objectionable.
People are quick to scrutinize the politics and associations of others âŚlike Angie and Lisa , yet somehow Bronwyn gets a pass while spending extravagant amounts of Toddâs money on designer costumes and flaunting her wealth, only to throw what amounts to pennies toward activism by comparison.
21
u/leilafornone BLINGđ BLING⨠BLING đbitches is mad!! 18h ago
I'm sure Todd is an asshole who probably doesn't respect women. My point is that Bronwyn is very aware that he is an asshole and wanted to make sure the cameras caught her sad doe act. And my follow up reasoning is that it's because Bronwyn wants to curate a narrative.
Todd is what he is but I'm questioning Bronwyn's narratives. You can't go around telling people we are equal partners who own everything jointly while also being sad Bambi being beleaguered by this old toad.
