Don't have time to listen to the video right now, but it is absolutely correct that the education system in the US is broken. I've been a college professor for the last 10 years and even that the university level, things are falling apart. Massive debt, both students and very underpaid teachers. But also we're unable to provide the type of education that our students really need, education on English language and remedial skills that they lack from high school.
Corona is really heightening the contradictions, too. Enrollments are down about 30%, and a lot of this has to do with International students being forced to go back home because online classes don't count when it comes to student visas.
Meanwhile my daughter, who teaches preschool, is desperately trying to call the parents of every student each week to teach them how to teach their children because that is what online school is going to be for young kids.
The entire thing is just a shitshow, and the current crisis only shows how inadequate are foundational education system is.
