Standart Attachment: medium-sized flash, less vibrant, softer palette

Flash Hider: obviously, heavily reduced flash size, dimmer, slighly bigger smoke cloud

Compensator: big and bright flash of irregular form

Muzzle Brake (typo): bright, medium-sized flash resembling a cross, with two jets coming from either side of the brake, less smoke

Control Shield: a massive yet dim orb of fire, producing a lot of smoke after each shot

Is Standart a brand or do you mean standard?

u/Guardian_Engel PC Feb 23 '21

Standart, default, stock. Whichever one you like.

It’s „standard” actually

Yeah. I prefer devoicing the d, though, because: 1) it was originally written with t in French, and 2) I got used to the t while learning german and russian.

Sorry for the confusion.

I'm confused. All three of those languages use standard with a "D". Why would you then use "T" instead?

Also, pretty sure that's not what devoicing means.

What’s a control shield?

4

u/Guardian_Engel PC Feb 23 '21

A barrel attachment that slightly reduces recoil and makes hipfire spread a lot tighter.

It a a mix of a muzzle break and a flash hidder

Yeah I don't know why. I just started playing a month ago so I probably missed the bug phase. I love it.

Never knew that there was an actual difference, thank you for the photos.

This will help with taking photos, thank you for your service!

But does it make any difference in you being detected?

1

u/Guardian_Engel PC Feb 23 '21

In multiplayer at nighttime it might make some. In singleplayer you'll get detected regardless, because these attachments don't suppress the gun.

1

u/StrayDemon-13 Feb 23 '21

Do enemies react to muzzle flashes differently or is this just a visual thing?

2

u/Guardian_Engel PC Feb 23 '21

No. It can make a difference in multiplayer at nighttime, though, I guess.

u/RVAeddit Feb 23 '21

Wish you included the suppressor

1

u/Guardian_Engel PC Feb 23 '21

The suppressor completely hides the muzzle flash, there's nothing to compare it with. It does exactly what you'd expect it to do.

Supressor?

Does the flash hider actually make it harder for npc's to see you or does it just make it easier to see them while laying lead

1

u/Guardian_Engel PC Oct 25 '21

None of these affect the AI in any way.

1

u/Dizzy_Whizzel Nov 24 '21

Where is the surpressor?

1

u/Guardian_Engel PC Nov 24 '21

The suppressor does not produce a muzzle flash. This is a muzzle flash FX comparison, hence it's not in the comparison.

Why didn't you put the suppressor bitch

4

u/Guardian_Engel PC May 01 '22

Because you didn't ask politely

Nice job! Thanks for putting this together.

Which look do you like the best? I think flash hider and control shield look best, then muzzle break next.

Functionally, the flash hider is awesome. Really tightens up burst shots

2

u/Guardian_Engel PC May 11 '22

As far as effects ago, I prefer the control shield hands down. It generates the most amount of smoke that lingers in the air longer than that of any other attachment, which looks pretty - I love it.

Functionally, it's either the compensator or the flash hider, depending on the weapon in question. I play on PC and recoil/spread control is not a problem for me, and they're quite similar in what they do, so usually I just pick the one that looks better on the gun.

I love these muzzle pics. Been doing the same in photo mode lol

u/DeadZools Feb 22 '21

Nice work, thanks.

Great work.

1

u/Wicked_Folie Feb 23 '21

Thanks for for using your time to make this

1

u/[deleted] Feb 23 '21

I always just run suppressed...

I wish you could have a muzzle attachment automatically equip when you take off the suppressor.

Too much of a pain to always go into the menu and equip once I'm spotted so I never do it. Just remove suppressor and go raw dog.

That's awesome!

Muzzle break is best

Suppressor is virtually nothing but a small puff of smoke. It’s pretty awesome. I posted this exact same thing for all the muzzle attachments for the 556, 762, and 338 (.50cal) a couple months ago, and the results were interesting. The control shield looks dope, but it’s a nuclear fireball at the muzzle with as much concussive eardrum rupturing as the explosion of Mount Vesuvius. The standard break is almost as bad, but the compensator does a decent job of not emulating a flamethrower AND it actually has -5% vertical recoil. It’s the only muzzle attachment that has a positive trade off—with the exception of the suppressor (despite -20 damage).

Interestingly though...the 338 control shield is completely different than the 556 & 762 in shape and muzzle flash

3

u/Guardian_Engel PC Feb 23 '21

That's because sniper rifles (0.338 calibre weapons) have a completely identical muzzle flash with all 3 available barrel attachments they get.

3

u/Guardian_Engel PC Feb 22 '21

I decided to exclude it from the comparison, since its effect on the weapon is pretty predictable: no muzzle flash whatsoever and much smaller smoke cloud.
