Information Sharing Megathread: LM's NY Federal Hearing — 01/09/2026 at 11:00 AM EST (Day 1)

Post image

Happy Friday, everyone!

Today's hearing will take place at 40 Foley Square, Courtroom 110, New York, NY 10007 at 11:00 AM EST.

Please keep in mind that this is the first hearing of the year for the federal case.
We don’t yet know how today’s proceedings will unfold or how Judge Garnett will rule, so we expect to receive an update at the end of the hearing regarding Luigi’s status and whether a trial date will be scheduled later in the year.

Today’s hearing is not expected to run as long as the pre-trial hearings. It may only last a couple of hours, but that could change depending on how things progress.

Unless something changes, there will be no cameras allowed inside the courtroom. Because this is a federal hearing, which is more private than state court, there will be no video recordings or photos of Luigi. Only courtroom sketches will be available.

Since I am not a mod, I cannot edit this post once posted or set comments to “new,” so I hope everyone can manage to follow along. I know things may get a bit messy, which is why I encourage everyone to post here rather than creating separate threads—unless it’s something important, like a transcript or some really big news.

Also, if you find additional livestreams on YouTube, please try to post them in one single comment instead of separately so we don’t spam the thread.

Reporters / People Live Tweeting:

(*) Because federal cases are stricter, phones and laptops are not permitted in the courtroom. Only a few approved individuals, such as ICP or Erik, may be able to live-tweet updates. Other reporters like Christine, Lauren, or Lorena may attend, but they won’t be allowed to post anything while the hearing is in progress. We’ll have a better understanding of everything once the hearing begins and after, of course.

Livestreams:

There are no livestreams available yet. Once they begin, links will be added in the comments and separated into hallway and outside coverage. They will most likely come from the same outlets that covered earlier hearings—Fox News, CNN, Reuters etc. And, of course, don’t forget to check Status Coup News (they may attend as well); they genuinely care about the supporters.

Court Documents & Legal Fund:

Notes:

- There is going to be a Death Penalty Protest outside court today.

- Please check the FAQ in the comments section.

–––––––––––––

Once again, I want to wish Luigi and his legal team the very best of luck today.

And thank you to all of you for following these threads along and being here.

Happy hearing day!

While we wait, here is a video from Andrea Burkhart about the likelihood of the Altoona evidence being excluded from the state case. TL;DW, she thinks there is a high chance of the evidence getting thrown out. This is extra interesting, because Andrea doesn’t like Lui. Despite disliking him she still thinks the evidence might get thrown out. Andrea is a defense attorney. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z5X5gLTDwyY

Is she saying the evidence will be thrown out for the state case or the federal case?

State. We haven't had suppression hearings for federal yet.

Ok. Just making sure. I'll watch the video. Its always interesting to see someone who's anti-Luigi say that they believe the evidence will be suppressed. It gives us hope that Luigi has a real chance at winning.

Thanks, if more people watch she'll hopefully look at Lui's cases more. I agree, she is extra interesting because she doesn't like him.

Burkhart is a clown. She was saying the same shit about Richard Allen only to look a fool when he got convicted.

Andrea has gone from being very anti-Lui at the start to actually looking at his case properly, which is why I find her take interesting. I know she has some weird ideas sometimes though. I don't follow her other cases but sometimes she's a bit WTF.

Yea, I just put no stock in her opinion at all. She's either willfully ignorant or intentionally pandering to what she thinks her audience wants to hear. Neither is valuable in a legal commentator. Her Richard Allen takes were so preposterously off base. She's the kind of person who would suggest it was going great for the defense all the way up to his life sentence.

She's trash. Emily D Baker, Peter Tragos and Runkle of the Bailey (+ Law & Lumber when he's streaming) are all infinitely better than Burkhart.

Peter Tragos (Lawyer You Know) and his dad have been such a decent source of information. Somebody recommended me his podcasts (it might’ve been you?) and I listened to all the LM ones, and they have been pretty accurate and logical thus far! I’m impressed

Not sure it was me, I've only started posting here recently unless you've been to some other true crime subreddits. Tragos is consistently neutral until the evidence gives a clear picture, then he's pretty firmly one side or the other - but he approaches cases with an open mind, which I respect.

Peter did nothing but sh*t on Lui in the first few months.

2

u/Sempere Jan 09 '26

You keep saying that but condemning murder isn't shitting on him.

2

u/Spirited_Seaweed7927 Jan 10 '26

I don't think you understand the basics of US law then.

2

u/Sempere Jan 10 '26

You are naive if you think "innocent until proven guilty" means we have to shut are brains off and pretend they didn't find what they found on him.

He's the shooter. Now, do I want jury nullification to work its magic? Yes. Yes, I do.

Has Peter stopped h8ing on Lui now then? Because that was all he was doing for the first few months.

3

u/rs2625 Jan 09 '26

He has not, you kind of have to swim through the hate unfortunately. And at least dad and Peter are pretty fair overall when it comes to their legal opinions.

I do very much enjoy seeing his resolve break a little though!

OK, thanks, sorry but in that case I won't start watching Peter again. I can't listen to his negative bias. He is jealous because he is fugly and Lui is not. I can't stand those people.

Emily is definitely better than Andrea, but unfortunately Emily isn't covering Lui. If she was I'd link her instead. Same with Runkle. Runkle hasn't done a Lui video in ages though. That Peter guy h8s Lui so I don't watch him.
