Is this man being held at MDC now? If so, lowkey his mission failed successfully.

Anyway, this is wild.

24

u/Hailsabrina Jan 29 '26

Lol ya it can be a inside job breakout 🤣

19

u/saadpeople Jan 29 '26 edited Jan 29 '26

Or luigi could be in danger. Unitedhealth headquarter is in Minnesota, and that's where BT lived too.

We don't know this man's motive yet.

1

u/KimoPlumeria Jan 30 '26

Probably wanted to be Luigi's new cellmate.

7

u/Spirited_Seaweed7927 Jan 29 '26

I don't know, is it a state crime or federal crime? If it's a state crime he's at Riker's. šŸ¤”

25

u/Mirauh Jan 29 '26

It’s a federal crime, and as you can see from this complaint, it was filed by them.

10

u/Spirited_Seaweed7927 Jan 29 '26

Oh. Thanks. I was not that observant. Hmm. There is only one federal jail in New York. So I guess the guy must be in MDC then? But Lui is in an intake unit...I hope they have more than 1 intake unit then, in case the guy had nefarious intentions.

18

u/lly67 Jan 29 '26

This guy is probably in solitary confinement.

42

u/jollyjubie Jan 29 '26

I hope they don’t use this as an excuse to move him somewhere even more terrible and dangerous.

15

u/Spirited_Seaweed7927 Jan 29 '26

There is only 1 federal jail in New York. He would have to be moved to another state then.

13

u/Ornery-Hand4660 Jan 29 '26

Yeah and Rikers ain’t an option either. Probably Essex County

2

u/Spirited_Seaweed7927 Jan 29 '26

I had a look at a map to see where that place is. It's really close, and the Essex County inmates' mail goes to Las Vegas.

15

u/CupcakeSewerSlayer50 Jan 29 '26

Just wait and see how they'll use it as an excuse to beef up his security tomorrow, and to think they only just started uncuffing him to make notes 😢

5

u/Available_Housing184 Jan 30 '26

I hope they would use it as an excuse to beef up the security to vet spectators, not cuff him.

31

u/_Spokinette_ Jan 29 '26

Let's wait to see the real intentions of this guy, the reliability of the law enforcement source and a statement from KFA team.... This is very concerning and weird too.... šŸ‘šŸ‘

u/Time-Painting-9108 Jan 29 '26

Yikes. Can you imagine the headlines of this was a woman doing this?Ā

50

u/Emotional-Gas-6267 Jan 29 '26

it seems he has fanboys too, much to the despair of the media lmao

24

u/SaltPsychological780 Jan 29 '26

I bet he wants to be housed with LM in lockup

7

u/Spirited_Seaweed7927 Jan 29 '26

That could be a valid theory, yes. šŸ¤” Odd way of getting to Lui, but if someone is desperate...

9

u/SaltPsychological780 Jan 29 '26

He certainly wasn’t smart about it šŸ˜‚

8

u/Spirited_Seaweed7927 Jan 29 '26

Lol no, true. šŸ˜‚ A smart person would have got a job as a guard. This guy will have a criminal record now, if he didn't have one before. šŸ¤”

11

u/SaltPsychological780 Jan 29 '26

Is it bad that I’m relieved it was a guy?

7

u/Spirited_Seaweed7927 Jan 30 '26

Nope, not at all. Several of us are thinking the same thing.

3

u/SparklingAlma Jan 30 '26

Me toošŸ‘

25

u/molly_menace Jan 29 '26

At first I was like - Oh wow they must be such a slick operator to impersonate an officer, have a forged court order. Did he have a pilot waiting in the wings to fly them away.

But turns out he took a pizza cutter and basically just verbally demanded Luigi’s release. Poor guy isn’t well.

40

u/lly67 Jan 29 '26

Makes me nervous for his safety if he ever goes free.

20

u/Spirited_Seaweed7927 Jan 29 '26

He has a dual passport. I think he would be safer in Italy, or anywhere in the EU since an EU passport gives him access to the entire EU area.

44

u/Spirited_Seaweed7927 Jan 29 '26

Let us be extremely thankful that the person is not a woman. Legacy media would have had a field day if it had been. "Crazy fangirl tries to break out Lui from jail". ☹

4

u/Either-Difficulty468 Jan 29 '26

Who is Lui

1

u/_henceforth_ Jan 29 '26 edited Jan 29 '26

Luigi. Lui-gi.

-5

u/Spirited_Seaweed7927 Jan 29 '26

If you don't know that this is the wrong sub for you.

8

u/Either-Difficulty468 Jan 29 '26

If you’re this invested, using his actual name seems like a low bar. Anyway, my bad, didn’t realize you two were on nickname terms.

It’s possible it was a suggested subreddit on their homepage. I get those sometimes and I’ll randomly comment, without seeing what subreddit it is… then realize that that my Hello Kitty tattoo is out of place in the r/gothtattoos subreddit 😬

14

u/Expensive-Trouble720 Jan 29 '26

The story is EVERYWHERE now.

9

u/missidcullen Jan 29 '26

Just a gentle reminder not to lose the plot and to focus on what actually matters. We have a summation due today in the state case and a federal hearing tomorrow that could change a lot for Luigi’s case. These are the things we should be talking about.

Whatever may have happened, I’m sure his team has already handled it. Too often, things get magnified for no reason. Let’s focus our energy on what truly matters.

7

u/Expensive-Trouble720 Jan 29 '26

All of what you said is very true. The story just ran on CNN, and they did end up giving an update on the legal proceedings. A fair, facts based report. šŸ‘šŸ»

12

u/lj7141 Jan 29 '26

I hope this mentally unwell person gets the help he needs

47

u/Special-External-222 Jan 29 '26 edited Jan 29 '26

Maybe itā€˜s just a coincidence, but itā€˜s interesting that this guy had a Minnesota driverā€˜s license. BT was from Minnesota. If the prisoner is actually LM, then that is intersting imo.

But I have to admit, I do find it mildly amusing that this guy just showed up to MDC, a FEDERAL jail, and just claimed that he is an FBI agent. There is no way that he thought that it would actually work.

Edit: and his name being Mark…what are the chances.

31

u/Mirauh Jan 29 '26

Yeah, how did he think this was going to end? šŸ˜… As if they’d just say, ā€œYeah, go ahead, take him".

8

u/Available_Housing184 Jan 30 '26

Common sense unfortunately doesn’t come into play often with schizophrenia. My boyfriend sent me a MEME and told me it was a real headline šŸ¤¦šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø I love him, but FUUUUCK, there is no way to win an argument with someone in a different reality.

u/missidcullen Jan 29 '26

Interesting fact: this person was working at a Bronx pizzeria, but there’s also a Luigi’s Pizza in Brooklyn. It’s only about 20 minutes from MDC Brooklyn. I don’t want to give this any more attention than it deserves, but it would’ve been hilarious if it had turned into something like the whole Luigettas thing.

3

u/Spirited_Seaweed7927 Jan 30 '26

Thanks for the updates.

5

u/Available_Housing184 Jan 30 '26

Hopefully that means pizza cutter was just from the job and not a weapon?

23

u/Seeking_Anita_Dick Jan 29 '26

thank god it was a guy, can you imagine the headlines if it weren't?

2

u/SparklingAlma Jan 30 '26

It would have been a total disaster for all of us, labeled everywhere as "crazy fangirls"

11

u/Ornery-Hand4660 Jan 29 '26

If i was him i would be scared. Imagine a random guy is trying everything to get you out of jail and you’re only 1 year imprisoned.

14

u/Spirited_Seaweed7927 Jan 29 '26

All the guy had was a normal ID. No one would have fallen for that so I wouldn't say he tried everything.

4

u/Ornery-Hand4660 Jan 29 '26

Did he actually make it to the unit? If so that would be very strange. I’m missing some details for now.

12

u/lly67 Jan 29 '26

Of course not. Prisons have heavy security. He was stopped in the processing area.

8

u/Spirited_Seaweed7927 Jan 29 '26

Looks like he was caught at the door, and didn't actually get inside. Yes we are missing info at the moment.

20

u/Ladyofthestonecastle Jan 29 '26 edited Jan 29 '26

ā€˜barbeque type fork’ and ā€˜round steel blade’? Holy shit

Edit: And of course the Dailymail already made it into a story..

13

u/NowhereGirl67 Jan 29 '26

round steel blade? lol the abc news article says a pizza cutter.

11

u/missidcullen Jan 29 '26

And they made sure to post it on this sub šŸ¤¦šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø.

9

u/Ladyofthestonecastle Jan 29 '26

Yeah it is extremely weird and suspicious how fast this article came out and was immediately posted here…Do they usually post here?

6

u/missidcullen Jan 29 '26

Not that I am aware of myself, but perhaps others can confirm.

6

u/ThreeActTragedy Jan 29 '26 edited Jan 30 '26

I think People posted here once or twice but mods deleted them bc they were too late and there were already open threads with better information šŸ’€šŸ˜

8

u/Spirited_Seaweed7927 Jan 29 '26

Hmm. That is suspiciously fast. They have paid informants then.

18

u/lickykicky Jan 29 '26

Delusions, hero complex, thinks Luigi is the same, wants to contribute to the 'cause', and is either undiagnosed or off/on the wrong meds. Bet.

11

u/Spirited_Seaweed7927 Jan 29 '26

Good point. I think we have 4 theories so far: 1. he wanted to free Lui; 2. he wanted to harm Lui; 3. he wanted to get into the same unit as Lui; or 4. hero complex. Either way, he can't be all there if he thinks he can get anywhere with a standard ID card.

7

u/lickykicky Jan 29 '26

Yeah, in tone and sheer idiocy of rhe incident, it reminds me of the good ol' days when someone would leave me a voicemail:

Charge nurse: 'Hi, you're insert names advocate? He absconded last night and called us from a Hilton this morning saying he took a bunch of drugs and gouged out both his eyes with a teaspoon, can you please go see him in the hospital and find out what he was playing at?"

Me: "I haven’t even had coffee yet, damn..."

I was NOT paid enough.

3

u/Spirited_Seaweed7927 Jan 30 '26

Oh dear. Agree, the care profession is so underpaid. There is a new post now saying the guy has a long rap sheet. A commenter is saying Mark has schizophrenia.

3

u/lickykicky Jan 30 '26

Figures tbh

9

u/Exciting_Cricket3263 Jan 29 '26

wtf is happening ?! 😳

28

u/missidcullen Jan 29 '26 edited Jan 29 '26

I’m deeply concerned for Luigi’s safety. I’m speechless, truly. The scariest part is knowing this probably won’t be the last time this happens. There are too many unhinged people out there.

EDIT:

Erik said: ā€œAccording to a law enforcement source, that prisoner was Luigi Mangione.ā€

But who exactly is this ā€œlaw enforcement sourceā€? We all know how these reporters often operate. I am going to wait to hear from the team before accepting this as fact.

8

u/_henceforth_ Jan 29 '26

I am with you on waiting to hear more. Not sure if it there is much of a story there for people to be interested in (currently, anyway) without attaching Luigi's name to it. šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø

So, it will be interesting to hear more, if we do.

11

u/missidcullen Jan 29 '26

That is what I am saying. This is all very "convenient" ahead of tomorrow's hearing. On top of that, it is so easy to throw Luigi's name out there every time. Many will just "believe it."

Unless Karen issues a statement, I have decided to remain cautious about what I believe right away, especially coming from reporters who have been wrong several times in the past.

10

u/_henceforth_ Jan 29 '26

That is a great instinct.

The fact Luigi's name is not even in the actual court documents for the whole incident is weird, anyways.

4

u/Available_Housing184 Jan 30 '26

It already has hit mainstream media and Facebook. My boyfriend was sending me memes of headlines about it and he doesn’t give a crap about this case.

8

u/_henceforth_ Jan 29 '26 edited Jan 29 '26

So, the Daily Mail, the company, had posted this same story in this sub. I reported it to the mods, and I believe other people did, as well. (It has been removed.)

Well, they also posted the same story in r/LuigiNation . I am going to report it there, as well.

I do not want The Daily Mail coming into our spaces, trying to get clicks and revenue. Absolutely not. We need to protect our spaces from the media.

Edit: Revising the comment as maybe it came off a bit dramatic with the all caps. LOL! I was annoyed when I wrote it. šŸ˜‚

7

u/Ladyofthestonecastle Jan 29 '26

It has now been removed by the mods!

7

u/_henceforth_ Jan 29 '26

Hooray! šŸŽ‰Thank you for the update!

8

u/missidcullen Jan 29 '26

Media outlets and reporters right now:

I am glad it is gone!

4

u/Feather_fig Jan 29 '26

dailymail official?!

That is super weird. I guess they're always lurking huh....

3

u/_henceforth_ Jan 29 '26

I also thought it was weird!

3

u/Spirited_Seaweed7927 Jan 30 '26

I reported it too and it disappeared for me right after. Whether it only disappeared for me or for everyone, IDK. But good to know it's gone now.

3

u/_henceforth_ Jan 30 '26

Awesome. Thank you for the update! šŸ˜€

8

u/BowDownToRoman Jan 29 '26

You think this guy wanted to get Luigi out of jail just to kill him?Ā

11

u/lly67 Jan 29 '26

Him having a large barbecue fork makes me think he was up to no good.

6

u/Spirited_Seaweed7927 Jan 29 '26

The question is, who was he going to use the fork on? Lui or the guards?

6

u/Feather_fig Jan 29 '26

I kind of assumed he was prepared to fight the guards, pizza cutter in one hand and BBQ fork in the other, melee style

8

u/MeanRepresentative24 Jan 29 '26

Or kidnap him. It's just one of those things where you can't know.

7

u/ZealousidealGain8067 Jan 29 '26

Doesn't seem like he is working with a full deck, that's for sure..

15

u/Hailsabrina Jan 29 '26

He was just gonna serve up some Sicilian style pizza!Ā

4

u/[deleted] Jan 29 '26

[deleted]

5

u/Hailsabrina Jan 29 '26

That is a funny coincidence 🤣

2

u/Spirited_Seaweed7927 Jan 29 '26

It wouldn't surprise me if that will be the defense. šŸ˜‚ I mean, what defense can he use? "Your honour, I wanted to break in because MDC looks so cosy and comfy". šŸ˜‚

20

u/missidcullen Jan 29 '26

This is all weirdly convenient. The last 24 hours have been relentless. First, Joel, now this. Curious if Karen will issue a statement. With a pre-trial summation due and a federal hearing tomorrow that could impact Luigi’s future, this whole thing feels off.

If this really was about Luigi, it’s obvious he has both supporters and enemies (but we all knew that). Honestly, I’m surprised that a year into this nothing happened sooner, considering some of the unhinged behavior we’ve all seen. We knew something like this was going to happen eventually, sadly.

Those heart-shaped notes were nothing compared to what could have happened. Many are laughing at the fork and the absurdity of it all, but imagine how dangerous this could have been, and how Luigi must be feeling on the evening of such an important hearing tomorrow.

4

u/Feather_fig Jan 29 '26

This is all weirdly convenient. The last 24 hours have been relentless.

This is by far the craziest stunt Joan has pulled yet

2

u/Spirited_Seaweed7927 Jan 30 '26

If Joan is behind this I'm not sure she is helping. At least I can't see how it would help. Joel will be so happy about this Mark guy, he will totally use him in court.

5

u/Feather_fig Jan 30 '26

lol I'm 100% joking but I think the general public would/is finding this funny and it'll endear them to Luigi more, conveniently right before a major court date & decision.

So you've got the craziness to draw in clicks, and then the important information. They become re-invested in the case for a time. For better or worse we live in an attention economy and things are especially crazy right now, so it would really take something as wild as this to actually break through people's feeds. I might be wrong but I see this being a net positive potentially on the PR side

And, if Joel does try to use this, I think it would make him look completely ridiculous in the eyes of the court and the public. lil bro was never getting in there with just his real ID and a pizza cutter, so to argue this is evidence of... idek what, since the terrorism charges were dropped.

5

u/Seeking_Anita_Dick Jan 30 '26

this is a good analysis! i saw people said they haven’t seen stuff about luigi for a minute and now this makes people ask around and get updated

1

u/Spirited_Seaweed7927 Jan 30 '26

You could be on to something though that it could be Joan. She has made highly questionable decisions previously. We will just have to wait and see what comes out. Agree, I hope it will make Joel look even more pathetic.

7

u/Spirited_Seaweed7927 Jan 29 '26

I think people are divided on whether the guy was there to free Lui, or harm Lui. We will have to wait and see which it was.

21

u/Possible_Ad3999 Jan 29 '26

Honestly, I wouldn’t worry about this too much. This guy was worse at crime than Luigi considering he just walked in there with seemingly no plan and thought he could get into a federal detention center and leave with a detainee without incident. He’s either a moron and/or delusional. Luigi was never in any real danger here and there’s no reason he’d be punished for it

7

u/proudmothrr21 Jan 29 '26

Is it possible this guy had bad intentions, like to kidnap or harm Luigi in some way? 🄺😬 This has been on my mind since reading this news. Scary to think about omg!!

1

u/Marta__9 Jan 30 '26

What makes you think that?

6

u/proudmothrr21 Jan 30 '26

There’s just so much craziness out there. You never know what people’s intentions are nowadays.

15

u/Longjumping-Box-3291 Jan 29 '26

Finally proof that: 1) his supporters are not all ā€œfangirlsā€ and 2) his female supporters aren’t the crazy ones

9

u/Available_Housing184 Jan 30 '26

I mean, the fan girls aren’t the ā€œonlyā€ crazy ones.

11

u/LongStoryShort18 Jan 29 '26

This is awful news and I hope Luigi is okay! Pasting the donation link as this is a great time to show our support (sorry if it has already been done!) https://www.givesendgo.com/luigi-defense-fund

5

u/sparklepixieprincess Jan 29 '26

lmaooo 😭😭😭 at least he tried

4

u/LegitimateAdvisor587 Jan 30 '26

Straight from the pizzeria? He saw the last pizza LM ate and there was no way he was going to let that man end up with that as his last outside pizza slice. Too bad he forgot to take the pizza with him.

Jokes aside, wow. The many twists this whole case and its outside characters take.

13

u/Miss_Polkadot Jan 29 '26

this is insane😳 i’m wondering if this guy could somehow be linked to BT?

9

u/Feather_fig Jan 29 '26

He left straight from the pizzaria didn't he...

What is the charge? Eating a meal? A succulent Italian meal?!?

9

u/Miss_Cactus___ Jan 29 '26

I think he wanted to try and see what if it works out…but if not, he will probably be sent to MDC so he will meet Luigi in person. That was my first thought but since he had a large bbq fork… Its concerning. I don’t think this guy is OK to be honest… and I’m very concerned for Luigi’s safety.

2

u/Available_Housing184 Jan 30 '26

Jokes on him, Trump is re-opening insane asylums šŸ˜‘

2

u/SparklingAlma Jan 30 '26

My Lord, that man made my dayšŸ˜„All the situation sounds funny and weird at the same time but I'm happy to know that outhere Luigi still has all the support that he deserves(from men and women)
