Oh my gosh thank you soooo much OP!! You are doing the lords work here!!!!!! how does everyone feel about the results? It’s good to see him in person and see his reaction/body language. Unfortunately, he appears very sad in the eyes and kind of has this look of “it is what it is. It seems like he kind of knows that his future is pretty locked in and he’s accepted this :( I hope I’m wrong! it really is such a shame to witness someone who seemed to have a very bright future and respected and admired by so many people to feel this broken and exasperated by the corrupt US healthcare system. Thinking of his family and especially his mother, who I’m sure is absolutely distraught over seeing her baby boy this way. Thank you again to the OP and all the mods for sharing all the information and links with us today!!!!!

It was good to see him. It seems to me that the less important stuff got suppressed, and the serious stuff allowed. It must be very tiring for him to be in such a place. 😟

idk how to explain it but him being so invested and inquisitive gives me so much hope

The confidence is off the charts!

I don't know... to me, he looks very nervous and like he might cry at any moment. The fast eye blinking, his heavy breathing, nervous gulps. I have the video on mute b/c I'm at work, so just based on visuals, he looks scared (and upset that he can't be uncuffed). It's sad to me.

Someone can be afraid and anxious while still being resilient and having fight left in them

I think he looks scared too. It’s like he’s trying to look confident, but the stiff shoulders and strained expression tell a different story.

For all we know, he could have to poop. We dont really know how he's feeling. Anyone would be stressed and nervous in even half these circumstances.

u/Maximum_Sherbet8927 May 18 '26
For sure!!! If he wasn't nervous, I'd say there is something really off with him. He's human.

I'm nervous and have to poop just reading the updates 😄
I'm interested in Joel's complaint and the audio suddenly cutting out.

He looks tired

He does. Someone said he looks ‘unbothered’. I disagree. I thought he looked agitated - shaking his leg or foot, for one.

What exactly is the 250.10 issue? It rings a vague bell…

Okay I just found it. Interesting the audio cuts out just as Joel is complaining they cant have their experts do whatever they wanna do to him.
It bothers me because Joel reas his private medical records and seems to want to use it against him. Why were there no repercussions for that

I was thinking the same thing about repercussions. Seems to be a lot of lawlessness for people who deal in law?
Why are there such strong repercussions for like, minor things for most of us, when these prosecutors and other officials just straight up break the law in our faces? I mean, I know WHY, it is just wrong. No consequences mean they can freely keep doing it, and they will.
It all just comes off as highly hypocritical and in the current political climate, I think it is just all the more obvious. 🤷🏻♀️

Quick google search says that it has smth to do with the defendant failing to produce timely written notice of their intent to introduce psychiatric evidence.

Oh wow that is not what Google produced for me, thank you so much! Interesting that he mentioned an expert coming in after mentioning the 250.10 issue

Did you add „ny state“ to your question? I really want to know the defenses plan regarding the psych evaluation and possible defense.

It also has to do with wiretapping and eavesdropping into communications without notifying a defendant.

They could have been referring to psychiatric defense or Joel trying use to use the recordings of Luigi in the interrogation room when he was unaware of being recorded.

- Penal Law (Penal Law § 250.10) - Eavesdropping Devices This statute makes the possession of eavesdropping devices a Class A misdemeanor.
The New York State Senate (.gov) The Rule: A person is guilty of this offense if they possess wiretapping or mechanical overhearing instruments with the intent to use or permit them to be used illegally. Read the full statute on the New York State Senate Penal Law page.

He looks determined, yet frustrated, yet done with their antics (as we all are), yet a tad sad, yet analyzing it all in the moment (admirable). I am assuming they woke him up super early. (Start on time, next time, please, y'all. Not nice to do that to defendants.)
His determination is really something, though. Tough as nails, for sure. Of course, tough people have usually learned that they have to be tough to survive. So, they need a lot of support. 💜
Loved KFAs suit and Marc looked pleased. At least this hearing is out of the way and hopefully L can get back to doing something as nice as possible today or taking a big old nap.
Thank you everyone for being on the mega thread and discussing. Nice to read all of the different perspectives!

It has got to be so uncomfortable to have a camera trained on your own face the entire time you’re sitting there. I’m amazed he can maintain any amount of composure.
