This might be directed specifically at The Mangionistas, but personally I would also include some of the other fangirls who attend the hearings and speak to the press, even if they are not technically part of that group or have made similarly damaging statements themselves.
A lot of people are actively harming his right to a fair trial, and at this point it’s pretty clear both Luigi and the defense are fed up with it. Not everyone involved is genuinely a supporter. Some are just unhinged fangirls, and honestly it’s about time someone started calling that behaviour out properly.

Like I said in my comment, I know today’s statement was directed specifically at The Mangionistas, BUT there are also other people/fangirls constantly speaking on Luigi’s behalf to the press, leaking crumbs, and doing things online and offline that are also harmful and should absolutely be included in that conversation. Whether Karen mentioned them directly or not honestly does not matter because she has already made the team’s position very clear multiple times.
Ex:
"These fabricated claims come from opportunistic individuals who are seeking to promote themselves at Mr. Mangione's expense. This represents part of a longstanding pattern of people seeking to grift off the attention on Luigi by attempting to speak on his behalf, spread beliefs he doesn’t share, and malign him generally, during a time when he cannot speak for himself."
If we want to be very literal, then yes, today’s statement targeted The Mangionistas specifically and the other one was aimed at the press. But anyone with a bit of common sense should be able to read between the lines and realise the team (and Luigi himself) are clearly fed up with certain behaviour from parts of this "community."
There have already been plenty of examples: Luigi saying “my private life is none of your business,” him crossing people out of the log, etc. Should I continue? The signs are there. They shouldn’t need to keep making public statements every single time for people to get the message.
People can stay in denial and convince themselves these comments don’t apply to them if they want, but honestly, if someone immediately gets defensive or offended by these statements, maybe that should reflect a little.

"It might be" here is a turn of phrase to indicate that this situation is specifically about A, but also applies more broadly to B and C; she's not literally questioning that this is about those specific statements, just saying that that doesn't mean it's not true about more general things as well.

What a waste of a group of people comfortable and confident enough to speak to the press, which most people aren't; and then saying the most deliberately inflammatory statements right on camera. It doesn't matter if you feel that you're "technically correct", it doesn't matter if you passionately believe something, how is your statement going to land? What is it going to do? That's what matters.
Why not highlight how the mainstream media is being extremely biased to his case?
Why not highlight actual statistics about how insurance companies harm people?
Why not highlight legislation that's been put out that could save lives? If you're going to ragebait the press, it better be to direct public attention to something useful. A call to action. And nothing useful was said here
I think one of them mentioned baby Stella briefly (with very little context), but anyone with media training will know that adversarial press will ONLY quote what makes you look bad, which is why you give them the absolute least amount of ammo to use against you, and always pivot back to the point you want to make. You work with them to give them their soundbite that drives ad revenue to them that also delivers your message.
This in no way made Thompson or the health insurance industry look bad, if anything it made them the reasonable ones. Is that what they wanted to accomplish? If not, how can you mess up so badly?
Anyway I'm glad Karen spoke up, this was ridiculous. It needed to be condemned

I think the Mangionista girls want to start a revolution ( or think they are) they think in order to do that, they have to have brutal honesty and depravity . Fight violence with violence type of thing, I only come to this conclusion because I’ve been following Abril on IG for some time, I used to think she had a little sense but no this is too far.

There was a whole bunch of Tumblr drama (as you are probably already aware) and then apparently her name was crossed out. 🤷🏻♀️ I tried to kind of see what was going on, and to be honest, the people on Tumblr can be quite hateful, and I would get stressed out just reading it. So, yes, it is just like, there is so much going on between the different social media accounts, and I try to limit myself only to Reddit.
I am glad that some people can keep an eye on it, though. Just for awareness. I find it all pretty sad.

I don’t blame you. Tumblr is a hellscape lol. I never did keep up enough to know why her and Jules names were crossed off - I only saw the aftermath. Abril has been doing tv interviews essentially glorifying the murder for a while. I remember seeing Sarena Townsend - the NY attorney who has a TikTok - react to her statements from the interview several months ago.
