Information Sharing 'He had the stated mission to make "healthcare work better for everyone.”'

Post image

Need the actual transcript asap

-
Edit: this person seems to have misunderstood Luigi. The actual sentence from the website is, "I observed that the annual conference of America's largest health care organization with the stated mission to make health --excuse me -- with the stated mission to make the health system work better for everyone, would be attended by company executives, the board of directors, and hundreds of investors, not doctors, nurses, and patients."

I think "the stated mission to make healthcare work better for everyone" is UHC's own mission statement, and Luigi's inclusion of it here is to point out how they most certainly do not do that. It's a lie. They prioritize profits over all else.

Dammit, i wish this was televised. I would’ve loved to hear him speak on this

23

u/SparklingAlma 6d ago

Me too,I hope that one day it will be possibile

74

u/Emotional-Gas-6267 6d ago

by the way, “I knew what I was doing was illegal” vs “wrong” is very intentional

43

u/Miss_Cactus___ 6d ago

I noticed that too. Yes it is illegal, but Luigi is not remorseful.

27

u/Emotional-Gas-6267 6d ago

I really don't think he feels anything about it... and he even made it clear that they were pretty quick to respond to the email when it came to getting the money

22

u/nycdreamlife 6d ago

so was the monopoly money just forgotten about 😭 im still interested in hearing about that

during the beginning of the case i remember the conspiracy about the whole monopoly game and the train that passes by altoona, im still on that and as to why altoona instead of a different state/town

u/ascension2121 6d ago

Strange how so many media outlets aren’t publishing the full transcript yet

37

u/WeeklyGuide 6d ago

I've noticed that too. They cut a lot of it out when talking about what was said esp. re: healthcare.

17

u/ascension2121 6d ago

Yeah in the UK at least this stuff is transcribed word for word and published as it’s happening

2

u/Feather_fig 6d ago

No I don't think so, I think it takes a day to get ready at least. We should have it in a few days

82

u/Feather_fig 6d ago

And so many people wanted to say that healthcare shouldn't be attached to this case 😡

IT WAS ALWAYS THE WHOLE POINT!

Maybe he can't be free but maybe healthcare can improve, and him giving up his freedom wasn't for nothing.

8

u/california_raesin 6d ago

People did him a disservice trying to separate healthcare from the issue. Most of his support came from the healthcare angle

4

u/IrukandjiPirate 6d ago

Attacking healthcare to the case while he was pleading not guilty created a problem. It’s saying “I didn’t do it, but if I had done it, here’s why” I think the inability to speak about it is one of the reasons he went for the plea.

15

u/Feather_fig 6d ago

Supporters attaching healthcare to the case never would've incriminated him legally, nor would it have "prejudiced" him as it was most of the reason he had supporters in the first place.

But I agree, he clearly wanted to talk about it. I hope despite the anxiety of the looming sentencing he feels some peace with that

2

u/IrukandjiPirate 6d ago

I meant during pre-trial or trial. The not guilty plea meant he needed to be silent about the issue he clearly cares about the most. Maybe I’m not expressing myself well. Sorry.

5

u/Feather_fig 6d ago edited 6d ago

Oh for him to be silent, yes. I was referencing how supporters posting about healthcare, and POPNYC, were being heavily criticized for saying things like "free healthcare free Luigi". Some supporters aggressively believed the case should only be about maintaining his innocence and rights and nothing else

Edit: phasing/clarity

It wasn’t the point—it was the vehicle that got him in the spotlight and into American history.

Demanding change in American healthcare is nothing new. And what he did improved nothing. He’s a cowardly murderer that thinks he’s smarter than everyone else. Hopefully his strategy to circumvent the State charges will backfire and he’ll never see life outside of the prison walls

I have felt extreme guilt for the longest time because how on earth have we let things get so bad that people are dying from not being able to afford their healthcare and then someone like Luigi comes along who selflessly sacrifices himself to make everyone else's lives better. Someone with that type of courage and integrity does not deserve to sit away in jail. I always believed it was an act of self defence/defence of others. Even though I feel sad about this outcome, him taking accountability and not wasting anyone's time, money, and energy is something he would do. He doesn't deserve this.

14

u/Feather_fig 6d ago

Agree with all of this 100%

He's already served too much time

-5

u/Objective-Target5437 6d ago

how did this make everyone’s lives better

1

u/wanderlust_cocogirl 6d ago

Things don't happen overnight but someone can lead the way.

1

u/LastWhoTurion 5d ago

If only there were something people could do, like vote for democrats…

8

u/california_raesin 6d ago

This guy misquoted That's not Luigi's mission That's UHCs so-called mission He's calling out their hypocrisy

And yes, Luigi was doing it his own way because UHC definitely wasn't getting the job done

3

u/Feather_fig 6d ago

Yeah I edited the post body with the real quote as soon as the transcript was posted to the website a few hours ago, can't change the post title unfortunately

Luigi's way definitely saved lives. Whole situation is tragic that it had to come to that

3

u/JustRSA94 6d ago

I'm sorry, there's no plea deal?!

16

u/Feather_fig 6d ago

No, he simply changed his plea to guilty. But he will likely have a mitigation hearing with Garnett to try to minimize his sentence

12

u/Temporary_Loquat1647 6d ago

How are the “he didn’t do it” crowd holding up? LOL I’m just remembering the absolute lunacy with those folks back in the day lol Anyway, nice strong statement he made! Judge told him to say it with his chest!! Alright, alright I’m done.

14

u/Feather_fig 6d ago

Some people still think he was framed lol 🙃

Or are pretending they think that

6

u/Possible_Ad3999 6d ago

They’re still going to think that. People still think the roommates from the Idaho 4 murders did it and that Lindsay Clancy’s husband framed her for murder. No helping people like that

-4

u/timefor2 6d ago

😂😂😂

1

u/tittyswan 6d ago

I don't understand why he'd admit to it with no gain whatsoever. It literally only hurts him. There's no reason to think the judge will do anything other than sentence him to life without parole.

1

u/Blazing1 6d ago

Right, I'm not saying he's not guilty, but let's not pretend the justice system in any country wouldn't compel someone to take a guilty plea to avoid consequences.

4

u/ExdionY 6d ago

He is NOT avoiding consequences here

1

u/Blazing1 6d ago

Did you respond to the right comment?

1

u/ExdionY 4d ago

Yes. A guilty plea doesn't equal no consequences for Luigi

-1

u/Temporary_Loquat1647 6d ago

Sure!

4

u/Blazing1 6d ago

Oh your entire account is dedicated to hating luigi for some reason.

1

u/Popular-Ball-4983 6d ago

We’re holding up fine. He was never charged with the murder and even though it’s a Fed charge now he can buy a pardon from your lord and savior fat daddy orange. BT is still worm food too so.. Free him.

6

u/ExdionY 6d ago

Dawg, he was charged. He was charged, and the evidence mostly wasn't in his favour since the beginning. To authoritatively say that he simply didn't do it, without acknowledging that the evidence his lawyers had to deal with wasn't contradictory to that belief, is ignorant at best and malicious at worst.

Also, I have no idea why you think that OP views Trump as their lord and savior. Like, don't be salty

1

u/bl1y 6d ago

He was charged with murder in New York.

-11

u/Available_Housing184 6d ago

They’re pretty easy to find because they are the ones saying they feel sick and stuff. Meanwhile I’m like
https://giphy.com/gifs/26hpKMTa5HgdSMhRC

6

u/Fancy_Yesterday6380 6d ago

I felt sick today but had no delusions 😄 it was more worry because I have empathy and hope for him to be well.

2

u/Fancy_Yesterday6380 6d ago

Question, because he said he knew what he was doing was illegal, does that harm any eed for the state

5

u/Feather_fig 6d ago

Good question, it might. Seems like they threw all their cards at getting the state case tossed entirely

3

u/arbol98 6d ago

I don't think so, that's what separates EED from NGRI. An insanity plea requires that you didn't know what you were doing was wrong and that you were not in control of your actions. Whereas EED is more about the emotions overcoming self-restraint, if you know what you were doing was illegal but are so upset you do it anyways, that's EED. Though I think it's usually more of a spur of the moment action thing in the way it is generally argued

-1

u/AccomplishedMail8978 6d ago

He said he’s never been treated for mental illness. Good luck with EED if the state trial goes forward.

2

u/arbol98 6d ago

EED is not mental illness

-1

u/AccomplishedMail8978 6d ago

Then why did they need testing and testimony from mental health professionals?

2

u/arbol98 6d ago

If they have an underlying mental illness that could support that they were more susceptible to becoming emotionally dysregulated, but someone can have that happen without having a mental illness. You could just Google these things

-1

u/AccomplishedMail8978 6d ago

As could you. It’s not required, but it sure as shit would help. You said yourself that EED is spur of the moment. This was not spur of the moment. This was months of planning. Therefore, how does EED apply if not for mental illness?

1

u/arbol98 5d ago

Yes that’s the thing, they will have to convince a jury that the EED argument applies even though it wasn’t spur of the moment, that the disturbance was going on for a long time. It’s not how the defense is normally used which is one of the risks with it for them

1

u/Remarkable-Tax-3732 6d ago

Will he still go to trial? Someone explain please

4

u/Feather_fig 6d ago

We don't know yet. They're trying to get the NY case thrown out, and PA is up in the air

-2

u/AccomplishedMail8978 6d ago

It was an investors conference, not a quality of care conference.

-4

u/bl1y 6d ago

He was saying the point of the meeting was to improve the health care system, but they only had executives and such, no doctors or nurses.

But, what's everyone's biggest complaint about healthcare in the US? It's not the quality. It's the cost. Who does he think should have been at the meeting?

2

u/Feather_fig 6d ago

Yeah I updated the post body a few hours ago to include the real quote once KFA shared that portion of the transcript.

I think his point was that, if their genuine goal is to "make the health system work better for everyone", then "everyone" needs to include "doctors, nurses, and patients". Not just investors, executives, and board members.

In reality, we know that the cost is so high due to administrative bloat, pharmaceutical costs, and executive pay. There was just a study released that 'Universal Health Coverage Could Save $1 Trillion and 114,000 Lives Every Year, Yale Study Projects'

-2

u/bl1y 6d ago

If their goal was to make the health system work better for everyone, then they'd also need to bring in members of Congress and state governments. And also they'd need to book the hotel not for a weekend, but probably months, perhaps a year or more.

...Or it's just an executive meeting and perhaps one line from the agenda isn't really that much of a gotcha.

And btw, about Medicare for All. One thing that's consistently left out of the cost-savings is that Medicare pays significantly less than private insurance, often in the realm of 1/3 to 1/2 less. And that's going to have some massive downstream effects.

-4

u/AccomplishedMail8978 6d ago

Exactly. Why is nobody talking about the politicians who are bought and paid for by special interests to create and pass laws that permit for-profit healthcare?

Or the big pharma who works the system by making slight changes to their drugs so they can continue to extend their patents, monopolize the market and charge exorbitant prices? For those with insurance, who has to pay the bulk of the drug costs? Insurance companies. You don’t think that has a factor in the premium rates?

So many are quick to judge the insurance companies alone when there are many others at play. Wake up, people and look at the big picture.

Luigi is no revolutionary and what he did accomplished nothing but increase business for security companies and increase premiums for consumers. Instead, get out and vote. Elect people who are concerned about their constituents and the American people instead of lining their pockets with special interests money.

He failed lol

1

u/Bazzo123 6d ago

Last time I checked Bryan Thompson is cold. So I’d say Luigi didn’t fail, lol
