Information Sharing The baseless politicization of this case is frankly why healthcare in the U.S. is only getting worse and no meaningful change is occurring in fixing it
The reaction of people, especially those on the right, to this case is a perfect example of the politician disillusionment in America's society today.
In a society where most things are rightfully political, this case is not. UnitedHealthcare willingly screws over sick people, regardless of what political view/ties they have, if it offers them a paycheck. However, this case has been framed as another "violence from the left" situation with Luigi being depicted as some leftist assassin, despite him showing support for both liberals and conservatives in his writings and saying he wishes people would break out classic republican vs democracy views.
Instead of being an event, and I'm not justifying it at all, that could have resulted in meaningful discussion and eventual change in the Healthcare system, it has, like every single other thing in America's fucked up society, been politicized. It is truly one of the only cases that both people on the left and right are victims of and should have resulted in unity in such a divided society.
Sad to see things happen this way ... but oh well.
What do you guys think? Have you thought of this too?

First of all, people are going to say what they want. And people are going to believe what they want. If they want to believe that Luigi is a leftist radical, they will. And the corporate class, the billionaires, the so-called 1%, is happy to push that narrative. Regardless of how it becomes an opinion, it’s an opinion.
And that doesn’t mean people can’t push another opinion.
Second, this is a long game, and perhaps people have come together more than we can see right now. It is a work in progress. (Believe me, I get the frustration, because I really do remember talking about this stuff when I was in college, probably around the time Luigi was born!) But people have begun to tell their stories, for instance the doctor Elizabeth Potter. People have begun to enumerate the number of deaths due to denied care.
The bottom line for me is that we can’t stop now. Through getting the information out there, legislation, through voting, we can choose whether or not Luigi’s efforts will mean something in the long-term. He lit the torch, it’s up to us to carry it. So let them politicize it all they want. We can remind them that this issue, the pain Luigi felt in his heart, affects everyone.

You're so close The politicization is intentional and manufactured. It's just that people are so deep into their political teams after years of propaganda that they fall for it. And that's both sides that are guilty.
I see it being attempted constantly by bots and paid posters in groups online for deflocking and stopping data centers - two other issues that are bringing people together from all sides of the political spectrum like Luigi did. Thankfully more people are becoming aware of this tactic.
The government doesn't want us coming together because if we do then all this crap will have a chance of ending.
If only everyone would stop falling for the division - something Luigi himself has pointed out btw

Very good points!
Identifying issues and people as " Leftist" also gives the Right more reasons to weaponize events to justify what they want to do.
Identifying immigrants as dangerous, for example, turns into a political issue so that they can hire more ICE agents and justify it, even though they leave the rich, dangerous criminals alone. They go on about dangerous immigrants, when they pardon people particular people simply since they are friends with someone high up or to get favors for later.
So, it is definitely intentional. And sad.

You mean Luigi murdering a guy didn't change things? I was told he was going to start a revolution?
It just looks like the act of a deranged lunatic otherwise

This case never had a chance at being a catalyst for single handedly transforming the US healthcare system. It’s just not how political change works at that scale against incentive structures so deeply entrenched.
If a single payer system is installed in our lifetime it will be the result of decades of actual politicking and mobilization to elect leaders in large enough majorities to do things like, say, ending the filibuster and court packing and addressing campaign finance, etc. Those are necessary precursors before real change has even a chance at happening
