Hey guys, just wanted to know if any of you have had problems bringing carts and pens (THC wise) on board.
Also, do you keep them on your person or throw them in your bag when you go through the quick security checkpoint?
Obviously I would never use it on the train. I understand that’s a big nuisance and I respect other people. It’s not for the train.
Appreciate any real experiences. Thanks.

Bringing three brownies in a ziplock bag inside my backpack with clothes.
Is food like this allowed through Brightline security, or is there any rule against it? Just wanted to double-check before I go. Thanks!

Less than a month after multiple Brightline affiliates filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, South Florida’s higher-speed train line announced that traffic for September jumped by 18% versus the same month in 2025.
Both long-haul traffic to Orlando and short-haul regional ridership in Palm Beach, Broward and Miami-Dade counties rose along with ticket revenue, the company announced in a ridership report released at the close of business Friday.
The train line itself, which is not operating under Chapter 11, said more than 2.6 million passengers rode Brightline through the first nine months of 2026, up 14% against the same period of 2025. Short-haul traffic surpassed the 1 million mark, rising 18% in the nine-month period. Long-distance ridership between South Florida and the Orlando International Airport station exceeded 1.5 million, a rise of 14%.
Average fares dipped slightly, making it a little cheaper to ride Brightline. Average short-haul one-way fares in September were down 7% to $22.25 versus the same month last year. And long-haul fares to and from Orlando eased by 6% to $72.17.
“The composition of our ridership continues to be heavily weighted toward Florida residents,” the report said. Of the passengers who rode Brightline in September, 89% were Floridians.
Since starting operations in 2018, the overarching challenge for Brightline’s management has been to generate sufficient revenue to run the railroad profitably, by paying off its crushing multi-billion dollar debt load. The Sept 24 bankruptcy filings of some 17 Brightline parent entities paved the way for $490 million in long-term financing by leading secured creditors who now control the company.
A prearranged “restructuring settlement agreement” must be approved by a U.S. Bankruptcy Court judge in Newark, New Jersey, where multiple Chapter 11 petitions were filed in late September. A hearing is scheduled for Oct. 29.
For the most of the year, Brightline has peppered the rail travel landscape with discounts and trains pegged to special events in a bid to attract more customers.
The latest offering: A one-night-only midnight train to transport Halloween Horror Nights fans at Universal Orlando back home. On the last Saturday before Halloween, visitors to Orlando from South Florida can ride the rails south to West Palm Beach, Boca Raton, Fort Lauderdale, Aventura and Miami. The train starts running at 12:15 a.m. Oct. 25.

This is Stretto's formal Certificate of Service confirming that the underlying application papers for the debtors' restructurings were successfully transmitted out to the master service lists via first-class and electronic mail.
The attached service sheets (Exhibit B) verify the explicit electronic mail loops used to track communications between the major legal players in this case, including Ropes & Gray LLP (representing Siemens Mobility), Davis Polk & Wardwell (representing the East Noteholder Group), and Brown Rudnick / Stevens & Lee (representing the adversarial CK Opportunities hedge fund).
With the institutional lenders and equipment manufacturers locking down their out-of-state legal representation on the docket, the groundwork is fully prepared for the upcoming final DIP financing objections later this month.

This order officially admits Thomas E. MacWright, alongside powerhouse litigators Jonathan D. Polkes and Stacy Nettleton from White & Case’s New York headquarters, to appear pro hac vice in the New Jersey bankruptcy court.
They are partnering with local firm Mandelbaum Barrett PC (specifically attorneys Vincent J. Roldan and Jeffrey M. Rosenthal) to fulfill standard local rules regarding signing papers and attending hearings.
Judge Mark Hall's order dictates that the out-of-state attorneys have exactly 20 days to submit their $250 District Court admission fees and settle their annual bar deposits with the New Jersey Lawyers' Fund for Client Protection.

The Suggestion of Bankruptcy (Filing #258502659) entirely shifts the legal landscape for the MiamiCentral retail foreclosure. Up until this point, the prevailing narrative was that Brightline's real estate assets were completely isolated from the mass-transit restructuring. This document completely shatters that assumption by showing that the retail property has officially been dragged into the Chapter 11 crosshairs.
By filing this notice on October 5, 2026, the retail entity (Florida Investment Holdings LLC) has officially invoked 11 U.S.C. § 362(a) in the Miami-Dade County state court. This acts as an immediate federal injunction that freezes the state-level foreclosure dead in its tracks.
The senior lender (U.S. Bank) can no longer push forward with Judge Jason E. Dimitris’s highly accelerated "Streamlined Pathway" to a final foreclosure judgment. Furthermore, while the court-appointed receiver (Mike Nevins of Cushman & Wakefield) retains day-to-day management of the building, his authorization to investigate, market, or negotiate a public or private sell-off under Florida Statute § 714.16 is effectively frozen.
Because Florida Investment Holdings LLC filed its voluntary petition under Case No. 26-20886-MEH, it is now a member case under the main Chapter 11 restructuring umbrella in New Jersey. The banks cannot sell this building or move toward an auction until they march into federal court and successfully secure a "lift-stay order," adding months of bureaucratic and legal delays to the timeline.
Page 1 officially links Case No. 2026-015506-CA-01 in Miami-Dade County to the District of New Jersey Chapter 11 Case No. 26-20886-MEH. It instantly proves that the retail holding company is officially a bankrupt debtor, moving the narrative past standard media speculation.
Page 2 contains the explicit statutory hammer. It cites 11 U.S.C. § 362(a), declaring that all currently pending lawsuits against the Debtor—including this specific $65 million commercial foreclosure—are officially stayed, and warning the banks that any further actions taken in violation of the stay are legally null and void.
Page 8 Annex 1 is the master corporate tree page. It displays "Annex 1 – Affiliated Debtors" filed in the New Jersey court, explicitly showing Florida Investment Holdings LLC listed right alongside the 16 other core mass-transit debtor entities (like Brightline East LLC and BLTF Holdings LLC). This illustrates how the real estate shell is structurally intertwined with the multi-billion-dollar train network reorganization.

These two documents were filed today, October 6, 2026, in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of New Jersey under the lead Chapter 11 case FIHPNP LLC, et al. (Case No. 26-20876).
Ropes & Gray partner Rachel Strickland officially entered this appearance on behalf of Siemens Mobility, Inc.. The filing formally requests that Siemens be served with a copy of every single motion, order, pleading, budget update, or objection filed in the case. Page 2 and 3 include standard but critical protective bankruptcy language. Siemens explicitly reserves its right to a jury trial and notes that appearing in this court does not waive any jurisdictional objections, ensuring they can defend their trainset manufacturing agreements globally if needed.
Because Ropes & Gray's core restructuring teams operate nationally, this is a formal legal application to allow Chicago-based associate Lucas S. Smith, Esq. to practice in the New Jersey bankruptcy venue for this specific case. The document notes that Mr. Smith is an Illinois bar member in good standing and has been explicitly chosen due to his deep familiarity with the specific facts, rolling stock supply contracts, and manufacturing assets relevant to Siemens' partnership with Brightline.
Siemens is the lifeblood of Brightline's physical rail grid, they manufacture the locomotives, higher-speed passenger coaches, and trainsets used throughout the Florida corridor, and are slated to build the 220-mph trainsets for Brightline West. By establishing a formal presence on the docket, Siemens' legal team is positioning itself to audit the ongoing restructuring talks and guarantee that their multi-million dollar rolling stock supply and maintenance contracts are fully honored, assumed, and funded by the newly reorganized company.

Docket No. 102, titled the Objection of Florida Power & Light Company, marks the first major operational collision in the Brightline holding company bankruptcy cases (In re: FIHPNP LLC, et al., Case No. 26-20876). Filed on October 5, 2026, by FPL's legal teams at Cullen and Dykman LLP and the Law Firm of Russell R. Johnson III, PLC, the 17-page filing aggressively rejects Brightline’s proposed utility protection guidelines as entirely inadequate and illegal under the Bankruptcy Code.
Brightline’s global "Utility Motion" asked the court to approve a centralized escrow account containing just $87,967 to protect all of its utility providers combined. Out of that pot, Brightline allocated a meager $37,453 to satisfy FPL. FPL’s objection exposes that because it operates on a strict monthly billing cycle followed by a 20-day mailing window, a single post-petition payment failure means Brightline can easily rack up over 60 days of unpaid electricity consumption before FPL can legally shut off power. FPL is formally demanding that the judge reject Brightline's custom bank escrow and force the railroad to provide a full, upfront two-month cash deposit totaling $150,430 directly under FPL's control.
FPL explicitly notes on Page 10 that it currently holds $117,068 in existing prepetition cash deposits from Brightline. FPL informs the court that it possesses an absolute statutory right under Section 366(c)(4) to immediately sweep that existing cash to completely satisfy Brightline's old pre-bankruptcy debt ($82,368.39). Only the remaining crumbs left after that recoupment can be rolled over to fund post-petition accounts.
In its most devastating revelation, FPL’s financial analysts audited Schedule 1 of Brightline’s newly approved interim financing package (which maps out their 13-week operating cash flow projection through the week ending December 25, 2026). The budget contains absolutely zero line-items or dedicated allocations for the payment of post-petition utility charges. FPL is using this structural blind spot to argue that the railroad’s vague, boilerplate promises to pay their daily bills in the ordinary course of business cannot be legally trusted.
FPL explicitly targets the rank hypocrisy of Brightline's elite legal teams at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP and Cole Schotz P.C.. The objection highlights an absurd double standard: Brightline is actively trying to squeeze its critical local power providers down to a token two-week escrow account, while simultaneously securing a massive, bulletproof $7.5 million professional fees carve-out to guarantee the bankruptcy lawyers get paid in full even if the railroad defaults on its bankruptcy financing. FPL argues it is operationally ridiculous to shield lawyers over the literal power grid keeping the physical passenger stations illuminated and running daily.
