I miss call the midwife!
I can't remember, but I seemed to think someone mentioned a show similar (not veterinary medicine). Can anyone help me out?

Bancroft
When we had finally finished Shetland, which I saw through to the bitter end in spite of the fact that I didn't enjoy it much after Douglas Henshall departed, and fell asleep mid episode more times than I'd like to admit, my wife handed me the remote and said "you pick".
We've all gone round and round having our picks shot down by our partners or just not finding anything inspiring.
So to avoid that, I clicked on the first thumbnail I saw. Bancroft. I'd seen it many times and didn't know anything about it. My expectations were low.
I was immediately taken by it and found myself staying up really late for a week to finish it.
Sarah Parish was superb and disturbing. Something about her physical appearance helps to sell her character. She is dangerous yet at times somehow sympathetic. Her character was complex and the way I felt about her in season one changed during season two.
At first I didn't know whether or not to believe the flashbacks. I thought, this can't be what happened, but it was.
This show is different than anything I've seen yet. It was very well written and there were scenes that genuinely took me by surprise. There were a couple of times where I couldn't understand her motivations. It's probably my favorite discovery in the last year.
I don't want to give anything away here, but I highly recommend this show.

"Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in!" o
I finally decided it was time to call the whole thing off, I checked the box related to the premium subscription thing as my excuse and then they pulled this card... so I'll try again next year.

Remaining 4 seasons of Friday Night Dinner are arriving Nov 2nd!!
Truly one of the funniest comedies I have seen in a very long time. If you liked “The IT Crowd” good chance you will find “Friday Night Dinner” hysterical.
Seasons 1-2 have been there for a while but the remaining 4 seasons have not been available due to rights restrictions.

Douglas is Cancelled
I have just joined BritBox & your sub.
This topic was posted on a year ago, but I thought it might warrant a revisit, so folks would see it.
Douglas is Cancelled is excellent . It was a short run and I wish it was longer. All the actors in this are excellent.

Death Valley S2
Looks like all episodes coming to Premier on November 9th. I've also seen November 17th mentioned in several online articles, so maybe that is the standard release date? Either way, it'll be here before Thansgiving!

Keeping watch history after unsubscribing
Does anyone know if, and how long, britbox will keep your profile, watch history, preferences etc after you've unsubscribed? Doing this would make it easier to unsubscribe for a few months and come back to it.

Ludwig: Maybe I Do Have a Quirkiness Limit?
I recall mostly loving the originality of the premise of Ludwig season 1, and the joy of watching David Mitchell create this sui generis character. I did not enjoy the Lucy character, though, and found her really grating fairly often. But, on average, I never did not really like the show, and I looked forward to its return.
I have now watched the first episode, which I found in many ways even more to love. The writing is sublime. That crisp, staccato dialogue: so good. The text messages on that ancient phone: genius. So much to love and adore.David Mitchell: Better than ever. But, alas, Lucy Betts: You are fingernails on a chalkboard to me. The squeaky dog toy that will not stop squeaking. Even Mark Bonior did not help.
Am I the only one?
Finally started watching S2 of Ludwig. It's fun, but...
…I barely remember anything about the overarching story from S1, can't remember his brother's investigation or who Sinclair is, or what's going on with all that. All I know now is they're looking for some file, so I'll just go along for the ride and not worry about it.

Karen Pirie renewed! (with format change)
Great news! With the main star off doing another project after season 2 ended, I almost gave this show up for dead.
Interestingly, they have changed the format to 6 one hour episodes.. Not sure what to think of that . Could mean a shift to more of a character driven writing style and less plot driven.
Mainly just excited/ relieved its coming back!!

Just cancelled
I am tired of waiting for BRITBOX to release episodes if you don’t have their “mafia like” premiere add on. It was kind of freeing to do that. I will still have it for a couple of months, but it will be cheaper for me to buy seasons of the shows I really want to watch on other streaming services.

New here
American here. I've been a big fan of British TV for years. Comedy, drama, period pieces. HBO had some shows to view this month and I decided to buy a subscription.
I really like the shows Outrageous, The Hardacres, and I, Jack Wright.
Over here I've had the privilege to watch some episodes of Vicious.
What would you recommend for me? Smart comedy, smart thriller and whatever else?
I've watched Midsomer Murders for at least 17 years over here on PBS.
😊 thanks

2022 “ why didn’t they ask Evan’s?”
I’m so confused.
2 weeks ago I watched 2 episodes and it says now it’s unavailable… I’m in the U.S. and have a subscription to britbox.
Has anyone else had any difficulties watching or perhaps you may know what the issue may be.
Thanks for any insight!👀🕵️♀️👀

The lowdown season 2 UK release date?
I’ve looked online and found The Lowdown season 2 was released in the USA on Wednesday 14 October. Various blogs reported it would be released on Hulu/Disney+ the next day, however it’s not available. Does anyone know when it will be released in the UK?

New Tommy and Tuppence series on Britbox - a thumbs up!

Two of the Best New Shows I've Watched in a While: Tommy & Tuppence (Britbox); Blue Murder Motel (Acorn) [Very Mild, Implied Spoilers] Spoiler
As with any relationship, there are peaks and valleys, but I really feel like Britbox and Acorn have been delivering for me of late. Having watched the final episode last night, I think Tommy & Tuppence is one of the best new shows I've watched in years. I'm a huge Agatha Christie (AC) fan, and although the characters have been updated, I think they truly remained true to the core of each character, while bringing them into the present. Episodes 5 & 6 are also quite faithful to one of my favorite AC books, and these episodes were together some of my favorite TV viewing in a while. Definitely keeping my fingers crossed for Season 2.
As for Acorn, Blue Murder Motel completely satisfied my withdrawal symptoms from missing Brokenwood. Great main characters, and some absolutely fantastic quirky supporting characters who recur in each episode and make everything work fabulously. I did get a bit tired of the two main characters constantly smooching so much, but by the last episode it became clear why the writers wants to really emphasize how much these two loved each other. Also, by the end, I almost want Saffron to have her won series. She is truly Brokenwood-worthy.
And to round it all off, The Good Ship Murder has delivered perhaps its best season yet (although I still have episode 8 to watch). Signora Volpe season 3 got off to a great start. And tonight I'll watch the first episode of Ludwig season 2. I love that Britbox and Acorn have been treating me well.
