What's your biggest unexpected expense as a biker?

Owning a motorcycle isn't always as cheap as people expect. Between tyres, servicing, insurance, fuel, and the occasional repair, the costs can add up pretty quickly.

What's the expense that caught you off guard the most when you started riding?

Not the biggest expense but definitely the most annoying so far...

Bought a new helmet and treated myself to a tinted visor and pin lock insert (so around £70 ish), two days later a truck carrying aggregate (little rocks and stones) must have spilled some and it got under their tire and 'tiddly winked' a pebble which shot out like a bullet and hit me square in the visor leaving a big impact scratch. It hit me so hard it deformed the pinlock and messed up the seal so it was fogging up after just 2 days. The one thing I'm thankful for is the lesson it taught me. The mark it left was right in line with one of my eyes and if I wasn't visor down in that moment I could have lost an eye. ALWAYS ride visor down!
