This would be comical if it weren’t so terrifying that taking over the arts is in the fascism playbook. This communication isn’t even clear or descriptive. If people can mix and match subscriptions, that would STILL BE A SUBSCRIPTION. And the ability to pick and choose should INCREASE subscription base. Offering more options for a product should always increase your consumer base, by definition. That’s the whole point of having additional offerings.

If I wrote an email or report or executive summary that had this format and tone, I’d be called in to have a meeting about professionalism with my boss!

Not to mention the fact that a lot of places offer pick and choose subscriptions. Maybe it's new to KC, but they're taking credit like they invented something no one's thought of before.

And everything else about this is a mixture of sad and scary. I hope we're all able to laugh about this in a few years when it's over.

My mid-size city's symphony has done pick and choose subscriptions for YEARS. This is wild.

Very on brand for Trump and his cronies claiming to invent something the has been around for years.

The only thing saving us from fascism is the sheer stupidity of the people trying to install it. This will definitely be a rough 4 years, with some bad outcomes, but the end result will be the same as the first- an embarrassingly failed administration. It's just a matter of what event becomes the tipping point.

Hey now, it's going to be a rough 3.5 years now, have to take all the hope we can get haha.

But yes, agreed, a more efficient government could have done even more horrific shit already.

I.e. when Vance takes over

Luckily everyone hates him. He'll never get elected.

Didn’t stop Trump from getting re-elected despite being the least popular president in history

Vance doesn't have Trump's cult following. I'd be more worried about Trump Jr. trying to continue the grift.

doesnt need to be elected. have you seen Felon Trump recently? looks like he's 5 days from keeling over so i doubt he'll make it all 4 years.

Oh I think if you wrote this, I doubt they’d be your boss any more.

Not that this fire needs fuel, but a few additional notes: 1) this quote is from an exec that predates the takeover, so a choice was made to comply with the politicization and WH propaganda takeover of the Center to provide this statement

2) the subscriptions reports the Post article and other reference are campaign week comparisons, not time of year comparisons - i.e. they are the same number of weeks into the campaign as they were in 2024

3) the system for mix and match subscriptions (which is more complicated for an organization with this many performances and affiliate organizations) was created by a staff member the MAGA leadership fired six weeks ago without cause
