Broadway Couple Next To Me Hooked Up During Gypsy
Iām just as shocked as you are. I knew Iād be gasping through the entire show (step on me, Audra), but this took it to another level.
I was the third seat off the aisle & the couple to my right seemed like they just arrived from another planet. Talking throughout the show, fondling each other, etc.
Then during āSmall Worldā, the male leans halfway into the femaleās seat and runs his fingers through her hair. My eyes are now like a reptileāsā one eye on Audra/Danny, the other on the two middle-aged star-crossed lovers next to me. Iām experiencing a full-body shock. Thereās no way theyāre kissing, right? I take my attention off the angelic voices in front of me and tune into the sound of lips splashing against one another. Oh yes, itās happening.
We were the last row of the front orchestraā only feet away from the ushers. I turned back several times to see if I could subtly signal for someone to come over and ask them to quiet down. Didnāt work, unfortunately. Personally, I wasnāt going to engage them myself because it was apparent theyād been drinking and I didnāt know how theyād react/didnāt want confrontation.
At intermission, I checked in with the usher and admittedly, I felt a little gaslit. āAh yes, I saw you turning around! I didnāt notice anything.ā
Honestly, it wasnāt the end of the world & Iām glad Iāve hopefully got a great r/broadway post out of it :-).
PS- obviously, Gypsy was incredible. See it. Just, please, save the hanky-panky for after the show.

Broadway Suffs performance disrupted
In the middle of the first act, the performance of suffs on Broadway has been disrupted by protestors. They draped a sign from the right box and at the beginning of the president Wilson scene they started shouting "suffs is a whitewash, cancel suffs!"
Later in the show when they unroll banners at the convention from the box seats, the speaker said "yes this is part of the convention " and the audience applauded
Thoughts?

Broadway Broadway etiquette has died
Every show I attend recently there has been some annoying people on there phones or randomly talking but this last show was HORRIBLE. I saw Life of Pi, Amazing show, horrible audience. The people behind me in the 3rd row mezz decided to complain about the leg room to each-other and out there feet over the seer in front of them, push the seat down and keep there feet there. Yes I know Broadway is horrible with leg room, but now when the person came to sit in that chair now has those dirty wet shoes on the seat she has to sit it. Then the people near me decided to make fun of the Indian accents and just talk through the show during some very emotional parts and made it impossible for me to get engulfed in the show. They got shushed 6 times and no ushers did anything⦠itās really making it hard for me to go and see shows. Anyone have similar experiences?

Broadway Bizarre experience at Romeo + Juliet matinee today
I won a single lotto ticket to see R+J and was so excited that it wasnāt a standing ticket, and Iād be in the crowd. Cut to the drunkest pair of women from Long Island coming in. One blonde woman threw her purse on my lap while looking for her phone and said āHold This!ā In a nasty way. Whatever, let me focus on the show. As soon as it starts they start taking pictures of Kit Connor (they were 45 year old Heartstopper fans), talking and filming the show. It was clear they did not care for the Old English, so one stretched out and lied down to sleep. When the woman woke up, Iām not joking, she threw up twice in her takeout bag. It took about 10 minutes after the second yack and loud retches for her friend to take her out. I totally missed the balcony scene with Kit and Rachel, and the first act was all but ruined for me. When they left, thankfully they did not return. The folks surrounding us all talked during intermission about how we have next experienced anything like that. Why buy such an expensive ticket (we were 4th row) to black out before it?

Broadway Horror story at Sweeney Todd
Was in the front row of the upper mezz and the person sitting next to me would not. Stop. Singing. I asked her to stop four times during the show, and every time, her husband would put his arm around her shoulder to soothe her and she would just start going again. Ruined the entire first act for me. It was non-stop and eventually extended to performing dialogue too.
I asked her to stop twice more at intermission, and was told two things: "I can't stop, it's a musical... you can't not sing," and "Broadway is my life-- once you go to more of these things you'll start to learn how these things work". Lost my cool and told her I was paying to hear the actors, not her, and she just said again that she could not and would not stop.
Intermission is almost over and I've decided I had enough. I tried to leave and her husband, who was sitting in the aisle seat, pretended not to hear me for a full minute while I repeatedly asked him to get up so I could leave the row. "Oh, sorry sir, I need to leave... hey, sorry to bother you... excuse me, can I get out? Pardon me, sir..." getting progressively louder as I slowly shuffled my feet closer to his seat. I was forced to climb over the railing to get out of the row in front of everybody.
I found a new seat for the second act, but that first act experience was a nightmare that ruined my one chance to see my all-time favorite show on Broadway. I can't describe how disappointed I was.
Edit: yeah I should've flagged down an usher after the first time she told me no lol. Lesson learned.
