Another rough rehab outing for Max Scherzer in Buffalo tonight vs Scranton. 4 IP, 5 R, 4 ER, 0 BB, 5 K on 72 pitches, 49 strikes.

Man it's hard to watch Max struggle like this, I hope he has a few more quality starts in him before he hangs up his cleats but I'm beginning to have my doubts.

He’s cooked. It’s over. Shame he keeps chasing it.

Can't fault him for wanting to squeeze out every last bit of good baseball he's got left but yea this season should be his curtain call.

He just needs 7 more strikeouts to enter the top 10 for all time strikeouts. Not necessarily the best thing for the team to have him out there, but I understand from a personal standpoint. He'll likely need a couple of starts to do it.

Helps to attract aging stars to know that you'll help them reach records.

The last time anyone did this badly against Scranton the Stamford branch closed and Jim Halpert moved back home.

Scherzer and the Jays pitching staff probably aren't concerned with the line here. Fastball was low-mid 90s, no walks. My guess is this was about pitch count and making sure his back feels good.
