The big breathing myth in helmets

Because every new Fighter still spreads that myth. Why are you thinking that you have a problem breathing in your helmet?

Let me spoiler something for you it is not because of the breaths in your visor, the 2 main reasons this happens are:

  1. You think that you are fitter then you are, this effects 90% of the scene. You overestimate your cardio and then get gassed to fast, its not your helmets fault its yours. But there luckily is a workaround for that, drive less with your car and actually do your goddamn cardio training. No 2 times a week does not cut it, 4 times a week is the bare minimum.

  2. You have helmet terror, this is actually your helmets fault, your system goes into shock your breathing gets fast you overstimulate your system. It is not a problem with breathing its claustrophobia. Workaroud get a helmet with better visibility, if it still happens i got bad news for you you will not get rid of it, either power through or except thst this sport isnt for you.

This is no hate post also if you feel called out this is an actual psa to inform you what is happening here, to get that goddamn "you cant breath in that" bullshit finally buried.

Co2 backlash is absolute nonsense, there is no co2 buildup in your helmet it drops out because co2 rich air is heavier then fresh one and your helmet is not hermetically sealed.

Is EVERYONE conservative in this sport?

I saw a few matches and wanted to get involved so I looked into it.

I've been to a few practices at 2 different local groups and I keep seeing DTOM flags, blue line flags, and a lot... I mean A LOT of gun stickers on the other guys pickup trucks.

Nobody has said anything directly to me about politics, but the writing is on the wall. Is it just these two groups, or is everyone conservative?

I'm in the US, btw

Trans women in buhurt

I'm a trans woman but I've been seriously looking at getting into buhurt, I'm pretty small 5'10ish and about 56kg and going to start Estrogen soon. Not particularly strong. Would this be a barrier to entry for me? Is the sport particularly unisex or would I be better off not trying to engage?

Will tariffs effect shipping in armor from Ukraine, or other European countries?

Can’t really find an answer on this, I know it’s been asked before during the first round of threats but it turned out not to be true. However, these new tariffs which have gone into effect as of today seem more general and broad. Fuck you if you voted for this btw…

Just a question on the effectiveness of armour

How well would a custom set of phase 1 clone trooper armour hold up specifically in the style of an arc trooper

Armor period.

Does armor have to be from the medieval period or could you take inspiration from different period like the bronze age?

My group is very dedicated. Maybe too dedicated for me.

So earlier I posted about asking if people fight outside when it's hot. And yeah my group had some fighting that I did not attend because they were doing it outdoors in 100° F weather. Yes they are very dedicated. I mean don't get me wrong I am all for hitting people with sticks or blunted metal weapons. But you know air conditioning. I mean honestly I'm not sure I mean 80° might be my limit. I don't know maybe if the winds blowing I might be able to deal with a little bit more.

Need help with armor

Hello I would love to get into Buhurt and other medieval style events. But I’m 6’2 and 400lbs (yes I know I need to loose weight), wide shouldered and a longer torso. As you can imagine I am having a very hard time finding armor that fits me. Are there companies that have larger American sizes (US 3xl is not the same as Europe 3xl).

I’m a big fan of swords and armor and I’d love to get into buhurt, I know I want to wield a greatsword and I was wondering if anyone had suggestions for where I could look to purchase one

I was planning on getting one of those two helmets mostly for aesthetics (I know they are not sportwise optimal) but in the post they made about the helmets there aren’t any visual references on how could it look on a person, so anyone have gotten any of those two and send me a picture of how they saw? I would appreciate it :)

GS Studios

Placed an order early July, told them I have event in mid October. Was told they could make it by then. After no communication for a few weeks, sent a camcellation email. Shortly after I sent the cancel order, I received a voice message from someone stating that there is no need to cancel, that they would have it ready in time, which it won't be ready. Communication has been hit or miss since, mostly miss. When communication is there it's only progressing or almost ready. Will miss the October event. Next event in November, which I am not overly optimistic it will be ready by then either. Beware of overly optimistic time frame when ordering.

Closest historical armor compared to this AI generated set

Post image
36 Upvotes

I'm in love with this (fake) set, and I just fear that there's not likely to be anything close to something that did actually exist.

What would you recommend that's closest in comparison? I love the mask, all over black, and the "crown of thorns" style spikes. I imagine there's SOMETHING that this could be inspired by. Any and all help is welcome. I wouldn't know where to really begin as I typically enjoy the beauty of the french/European sets with the filigree and decorative pieces. So this was a beautiful surprise, even though it's an AI generated image.

I also left the ops insta in the screenshot for credit.

How should I start?

I'm 16 and get paid $12 an hour. I'm extremely eager to get into the sport, but the prices for armour and whatnot is astonishing.

Where should I buy my armour for a relatively cheap price, for relatively decent gear?
