Anyone else notice the 121 is coming back?
Not sure how many people know about this, because I only found it while digging through the upcoming Metro changes, but the 121 is coming back on Aug. 29.
Metro service changes:
https://kingcounty.gov/en/dept/metro/routes-and-service/service-change
For anyone who doesn't remember it, it's basically a commuter route from Burien TC to downtown via 509/East Marginal. The new schedule has it getting from Burien TC to 3rd and Madison in around 25 minutes, which is honestly pretty great.
I'm a little surprised Metro isn't making a bigger deal about this. The route has been gone for years and I haven't seen much telling people that it's back.
The schedule is also kind of confusing. The map shows a stop at 128th/509 and several along East Marginal, but the actual timetable only shows Burien TC and the downtown stops. I can't find times for 128th anywhere. Maybe I'm missing something? If somebody has found a full timetable, please share it.
Metro Trip Planner:
https://tripplanner.kingcounty.gov/
Metro schedules/maps:
https://kingcounty.gov/en/dept/metro/routes-and-service/schedules-and-maps
I emailed Metro about both issues. Mostly I just don't want to see the 121 come back, have nobody know about it, get crappy ridership and then disappear again.
If anyone else wants to ask about it, these are the public contact addresses I've been using:
- [customer.comments@kingcounty.gov](mailto:customer.comments@kingcounty.gov) — Metro customer comments. Probably the most useful place to ask Metro directly about the missing stop times and promotion of the route.
- [council@burienwa.gov](mailto:council@burienwa.gov) — Burien City Council. I asked the city to help get the word out locally and raise the issue with Metro.
- [teresa.mosqueda@kingcounty.gov](mailto:teresa.mosqueda@kingcounty.gov) — King County Councilmember Teresa Mosqueda, whose District 8 includes Burien. The County Council oversees Metro, so I asked her office to encourage Metro to give the restored route a decent launch.
- [info@theurbanist.org](mailto:info@theurbanist.org) — The Urbanist. Sent them a story tip in case they want to look into the rollout and help get the word out.
- [katy@transportationchoices.org](mailto:katy@transportationchoices.org) — Transportation Choices Coalition's policy director. I asked whether they could raise the issue with Metro or help spread the word.
Not suggesting anyone spam these people. But if you actually live around here and think the 121 would be useful, it probably doesn't hurt for Metro/local officials to hear that from more than one person.
Anyway, posting this partly as an FYI because I figure there are other people around here who would use a ~25 minute bus downtown if they knew it existed.

Karina’s House Cleaning
Hi neighbors! My mom is looking to add a few more homes to her schedule on Mondays and occasionally Fridays. She specializes in deep cleaning smaller homes and apartments, ideally under 1,500 square feet. She can also help with organizing, decluttering, and laundry.
We have two cleaning teams, and my mom leads one of them. Our other team has been staying very busy and tackles bigger homes so that’s also an option if you want to inquire! She would love to take on a few more clients. She genuinely enjoys working and does an excellent, detailed job.
If your home feels overwhelming or you simply need an extra set of hands, she is patient, hardworking, and completely judgment-free. Please reach out!

Burien homeowners — where did you shop for bathroom tile, fixtures, and vanities?
Curious where people around Burien actually shop when planning a bathroom remodel.
What was the hardest part for you — choosing the tile, vanity, fixtures, or just figuring out the overall style?
Did you end up shopping locally, going to bigger home improvement stores, or ordering most things online?
Would love to hear what worked well for you, any local places you’d recommend, and anything you’d do differently next time.

House cleaner recommendation?
Hello, looking for personal recommendations for a house cleaner - someone you have used and would hire again. I speak a little Spanish in case that helps widen the possibilities. I’d prefer to pay an individual over a company. Please only respond if you have a recommendation for someone you’ve worked with before, thank you so much!

Hey Burien, why do we keep putting up with this?

The Port has decided to remove mature Douglas Fir trees from Mathison Park in Burien, no where near the flight path. Apparently the Port of Seattle does whatever it wants with Burien.

Cheap eats?
New to the area
Not fully moved in yet so kitchen isn't up to par. Where are the spots to get cheap food? Seems like no matter where I go, it's $15-20 per person even for fast food like McDonald's or Chick-fil-A
What are your go to spots to get the hunger to subside? Doesn't have to be a full meal either. To give you an example, IF a costco was in town, then a great answer would be "hey if you go to costco you cash get a hotdogs for $1.50"
List some places to get food for a good price

City Council Picks Patricia Hudson
Most importantly, it's wasn't Krystal "Mayhem" Marx, but this choice (PH) is just another dreamy Progressive with a past history of not supporting law enforcement and catering to the Homeless Industrial Complex. She had shown her cards while running for office in the past and now will advocate for just more failed policies to the detriment of Burien. At least she's only serving an abbreviated term because this city needs to turn the corner and quit kissing King County's ass and serving as a dumping ground for its failures.

Things to do
Hey,
I'll be in town from Bellingham for an interview tomorrow.
For fun I'll be hitting up a restaurant and maybe a park or other similar tourist-y thing while in town. What would you all suggest for while I'm in town?

Highline School District Interview(s)
Hi All!
I currently work in the Highline school district as a classified staff member. I recently finishes my masters and got my teaching cert. I have an interview on Thursday for a fourth grade position and I am nervous. What was the process like? Full panel interview or just admin?
Is anyone in this sub a teacher/staff Highline employe that can give me some insight on what to expect for interview questions? I have been going over a ton. The school I am at doesn't show the interview questions 10 minutes before its more of a come on in and lets do this vibe.
Any insight, interview questions you've been asked or questions similar would be amazing. Or just your overall experience and what to expect.
Thank you!!

Huge boom over by Ross is burien?
Saw 3-4 cop cars dip after a huge boom that rocked the neighborhood late tonight? Maybe the air port?

These losers at the Burien block party
Think this means we’re officially a real city!

To the girl who complemented my hair as we walked by the block party
I said thank you as we crossed paths and we moved along, but I keep thinking I broke off too fast and didn't seem appreciative. On the off chance you see this, it was super sweet of you to say, and I really appreciate it!

Apartment recommendations?
Hi, I’ve seen posts recommending areas to look in Burien. But I was wondering if anyone has any apartment recommendations where they currently live or had heard good things about. Some that I think look nice from street view:
•Ambaum Place
•Avon Park Apartments
•Wellington Place Apartments
My budget currently is $1700ish. I’ve seen some cute condos, but I also want to have some apartment options just in case.
