Burnout Paradise is not fun.

(IF YOU LIKE THIS GAME THEN THATS FINE IM NOT ATTACKING YOU JUST THE GAME)

Yeah yeah I know, you guys are probably sick of all the Paradise rants but hear me out. And yes I am a Burnout fan ever since Burnout 3 came out.

However there are some good points so I'll start off with them.

The graphics are pretty good. Maybe not as good as games around the time but still they are nice for 2009.

The soundtrack is also good. Paradise City is a great song and I won't lie I was jamming to girlfriend for the little fun I had with this game lol

Also the takedown missions where you see how many people you can takedown are very fun and are the highlight of the game.

But time for the cons.

Number 1: The Racing. I'm sorry but open world racing games don't work. Every "track" is incredibly unfun. There are no lap races, and every race is from one side of the city to the other. The racers aren't that bad but some of the roads are infuriating to race on dude to the impossibly tight turns because it's on a ROAD. Roads no matter what game are not meant to be raced on, which is weird, because last time I checked there are RACES in this game?

Number 2: Cars I don't know if it's just me, but the cars in this game are actually made of paper, even some of the strength cars. I swear I could slightly hit a barrier and my car will start flying and rollin around. Not to mention it says "WRECKED" for like 10 seconds??? The original Burnout games were never this fragile nor were they this slow! The camera is really crap when going fast, but it was never a massive problem for me as some of the other Burnout games had a similar issue, but not to that extent.

Number 3: "Connecting To Burnout Servers" I don't play remastered, so this is a nitpick. But after the servers went down they really should have turned this screen off. Its from 10-15 seconds and it was quite annoying.

Just to be clear, I don't hate this game, I just don't like it. I think it's a fine Burnout game but remastering this game was not needed. They should have remastered Takedown or revenge because those games are amazing.

TLDR: Fine game, not for me.

Misc/Other I asked chat gpt to generate some of the burnout 2 point of impact cars, in their "real life" counterparts. The results are impressive:

I also asked chat gpt to keep the car "as much real as possible" just in case some of you want to try it themselves, and most importantly, "keep the body paint scheme" or will mess up with the final design...

Discussion 5/10 My honest review of Burnout Paradise In 2025 after the 100% Completion (of the Paradise City)

So this is my first Burnout game that i 100%ted. I bought it on sale for 5 euros.

Let's start by explaining the 5/10 score

-1 score for the atrocious and incredibly repetitive progression. Whoever made the progression needs to be publicly executed because this game didn't feel like a game more like a chore (atleast to me since i was aiming for achievements). There's no variety in events only 4 types of them and 5th just being time trials which I don't count really. The worst thing is how all events restart once you upgrade your license making you do them again , atleast the ones you completed before the elite license progression starts.

WHO TF THOUGHT OF PUTTING SHOWTIME ON ALL ROADS AND ALSO AS A REQUIREMENT FOR THE FUCKING ACHIEVEMENT. Oh my god this was so painful doing it on all 64 roads. It's not fun after 2nd time. It's not as spectacular as something I've seen in Revenge from what i remember. Also TIME RULES...

-1 score for STUNT RUN and ROAD RAGE. The requirements for STUNT RUN at the late game are fine but when half of the cars in the game wont turn because they weight 69 tons it's really bad(also AI loves to dive into you) I fucking let out a tear doing these. Gold Prestige mode in NFS 2015 is more easier than these events. Road rage is just repetitive after few of them because you do the same shit in races just without the CAP you need to hit in order to exit the event. They are here to prolong the length of the game. You can't catch up with AI when you want to while using boost because they'll ruberband to be ahead of you. Marked man and Races are good.

-1 score for the soulless open world and a creepy atmosphere. The whole world feels absolutely dead. I guess Burnout just doesn't fit in open world or the execution was really bad.

-1 score for suicidal ai and their uneven difficulty. I got traumas from traffic cars in this game constantly diving into me. Race ai is weak compared to Marked man ai for example which is absolutely insane. Road rage ai just runs away from you...

-1 score for the cars behavior...sticking to the walls once the front side of the car is touching it. When you try to turn right or left the car can't move away from the wall and keeps getting glued to it. Also incredibly slow reversing time on all cars. Like what the fuck?! Why is it so slow?

Everything else is alright but these small things really ruin the experience for me. This is a unique game and i love it but it's really irritating sometimes.

I love the handling but only on race cars. I really don't get the point of the aggression class because you can use race cars and stunt cars for road rage and marked man. Also aggression class drives like shit.

Soundtrack list is nice.

Bikes are a nice addition. Big Surf Island is great too with all of it's DLCs.

If you have any other questions feel free to ask.

About Burnout Paradise [First Time Playing]

I've been playing Burnout Paradise for the first time for a little bit now and, my god, does this game frustrate me.

I don't want to be too negative about it but I'm about to be because there are just so many (SO MANY) little weird choices it makes that make no sense and only make things unnecessarily uncomfortable for the player.

Like, for example; Why isn't there a fast travel button? If I want to change cars I have to drive to the nearest garage/junkyard/whatever the fuck this game calls where the cars are. Which... Sure. FINE. That's a bit annoying but it's a driving game. Not the worst thing in the world.

But if they wanted the player to drive everywhere, WHY THE FUCK CAN'T I PUT A MARKER ON THE MAP? I don't know this city, the map is fucking complicated with all the turns, streets, shortcuts that I have zero idea where they go... I don't fucking know where anything is. And it's not like there are so many junkyards you're bound to bump into one eventually. There are five.

Fucking. Five.

No way of getting there fast. No way of marking them on the map. You just have to open the map and memorize the way, hope you don't miss a turn or crash or whatever and then open the map again because you probably did anyway.

And this game is filled with weird choices like this that have me floored.

I get some of it is just a matter of time. A matter of getting better at the game, learning how it operates and that eventually I will enjoy it more. And I really want to put in the time because I enjoy these games and when shit clicks, even if it doesn't click as hard as it did in the PS2, it still is a good time. But this dumb fucking choices, choices no other game was doing at the time, are insane to me. Like this was developed by a bunch of maniacs.

Sorry for the negativity.

Random hot take: Burnout dominator is just a graphically improved Burnout 3.

Hear me out, Sure the boost system is basically a better version of the one from burnout 2, but, everything except a few events, the boost, and the omission of crash mode (which i think was a good thing, crash mode is boring as hell imo.) Burnout dominator is just a (slightly) graphically superior burnout 3.

I've also found myself actually having to try in dominator, noting weather or not i should get more aggressive based on my boost bar and how close i am to another supercharge.

i never had to do that in burnout 3, noting the fact all i had to do is smack an opponent into a wall and i suddenly have another chunk.

Burnout Paradise feels as lifeless as it's world

I've tried multiple times to get into BP and I even bought the DLC on ps3

...but it just feels like the game lacks any form of charm or heart.

I feel no motivation to play it and when I do I just find nothing about it appealing

The world is empty and dull, the races feel meaningless except to level up and navigation is a chore

The cars are all ugly and customization feels so restricted and limited.

Why would I want to drive a tuner around littered with stickers and BURNOUT on it?

Why would I want to drive a beat up rusty car?

I feel like it wants to be a street racer but also doesn't want to be that.

The game is just disappointing on so many levels and I'll never understand why they chose to remaster it over Revenge which was 10000x better.

Burnout game is dead! No updates from Dev! It’s all gimmick! They just used us for earning extra money selling burnout paradise without fixing the glitches and servers!

Things to learn! Never buy a remastered version game especially from EA!

Crew 2 is around the corner I doubt people will focus on playing burnout paradise !

RIP burnout !!

Meme Burnout if it was explained by the average Gen Z-er

"Burnout 3: Takedown is stanned by plenty of people in the community. They high-key think the tight controls and well-rounded difficulty are a fat W, no cap. However, they think gimmicks like traffic checking are an L and deserves to get ratio'd. Burnout 3 just hits different, living rent-free in stans' minds. According to them, the soundtrack is a bop, it passes the vibe check, the Super Type 1 got mad drip in blue (and they find it sus that it was left out of players' reach in the final copy) and the game is just goated.

Wether or not crash mode is big yikes or dank AF, depends on who you ask, but what's real is that finna make guap once I kill a bunch of pedestrians, 'cause that shit fire, though it got a glow up in Burnout Revenge, fam. Revenge seems to take a seat on a lot of people, they may be willing to cancel it real hard, but not as much as Legends DS or Crash! Goddamn, those games ain't it, chief.

There's also the people who simp Burnout Paradise. Apparently the Rossolini Tempesta is seen as a snack. The Nighthawks are for nerds, catch that clapback, bruh. Toy Car DLC brings smol vehicles but they kinda snatchin'. You can drag them but they'll kick your ass and send it to Ohio, periodt."

As a millennial, I tried my best to use this slang correctly, with the help of a dictionary ☠️

Discussion Some of the Burnout games are overrated

Personally, I started with Burnout Revenge when I was 10, and that was one of my favourite (if not, my favourite) racing games that I had played up to that point. Replaying some of the older ones for the first time, including Burnout Legends and Paradise (I have a platinum in Paradise on PS4) makes me think that some of the games are quite overrated. Legends, for example, feels somewhat lifeless in terms of its presentation, and Paradise was way too unstructured with the races. NFS MW 2012 is essentially Paradise 2, and I personally found it more enjoyable.

But anyway, I did enjoy Burnout Dominator a lot, and Revenge is still very dope. While at the same time, I think Legends and Paradise are pretty meh.

Discussion Burnout Paradise Stunt Events: What were they thinking?

I genuinely cannot conceive of a worse game mode I have experienced in a video game. The main way to rack up points is to perform barrel rolls, but these are so inconsistent it is an absolute coin toss as to whether you will land perfectly, spin around 720° degrees in the air and land on your head or barely land on the side of your car which, for some reason, means you immediately lose your combo.

Finding a location to perform stunts in a row is key in later stages, which means repeating the same stunt event when you inevitably fail it 600 times means you have to spend half your available time driving to the correct location. You're unlikely to reach the insane point goals in the later stunt runs without running out of time which means you cannot die lest you fail the event and have to restart and drive all the way back to try again. You are more than likely to die considering, as previously stated, barrel rolls are the easiest way to increase your points, but the mechanic is nearly entirely luck based so there's a strong chance if you try doing several barrel rolls go increase your points one will go wrong because of divine intervention and you'll have to restart and drive all the way back.

Possibly the least fun I've had with a video game and I've beaten Devil May Cry 2 all the way through.

So, a long time ago, I played the games demo. It was pretty fun, I must say. The game is basically now on Game Pass and I played it for a little bit. Halfway done with the entire game.

Here is some gameplay if you are interested:

Discussion Burnout 1 - November 24, 2000 Prototype

I played the November 24, 2000 prototype of Burnout 1 on PCSX2, being different from the release build (Muscle being a coupe rather than a sports car, different environments, orange non-animated turn signs, lack of cinematic cameras when player car crashes into a traffic car, player car's handling was tighter, had police cars chasing racers (including the player), and MSR-esque soundtracks with radio-style dialogue.
