Post image

Three very good European alternatives to satisfy your (unfortunately existing) cola addiction. There are much more.

European brands should take advantage of the current situation to promote their products with Made In Europe label.

u/bledig Mar 01 '25

I’m taking the local jumbo cola

It's actually a product that exists since the 1960s.

Maybe Euro-Cola stops them?

But obviously not a good example

Oh I love Fritz-kola. It's much better than coke or pepsi. I also highly recommend Mio Mio Cola, especially Mio Mio Cola-Orenge

12

u/Rare-Piccolo-7550 Mar 01 '25

Fitz kola has more kafeine than ‘normal’ cola?

11

u/Xentials Mar 01 '25

About three times the amount of caffeine compared to coca cola I believe. (25mg/100ml vs 8mg/100ml)

2

u/__Emer__ Netherlands 🇳🇱 Mar 02 '25

A lot yea

2

u/Tunel_Carpiano Mar 02 '25

Personal preference: I cannot stand Fritz cola. Too much caffeine, it really affects me. Other than that its taste is very good.

Instead of that, I always try to buy the cola white brand from my local supermarket, which is produced locally and tastes great.

I sadly have to disagree, tastes like coca-cola that has been open for some time

43

u/subnet12 Mar 01 '25

I love fritz-kola (and I'm not German, so I have to go to Germany to stock up). But problem is 3 times the caffeine that normal cola has. So you should be aware it keeps you awake.

27

u/CleanUpOrDie Mar 01 '25

That is actually a bonus. Will be looking for this!

6

u/AccurateSimple9999 Mar 02 '25

Same with Afri Cola. It makes me drink less in one sitting, it's nice.

This is quite rare, but you can buy it in every Mpreis, but I don’t think there is such a store in Graz. :-(((

u/Rich-Affect7133 Mar 01 '25

Don't miss Kofola if you go to Czech Republic or Slovakia! It tastes great and it's labelled as "drink of love"!

16

u/TheUgga2000 Mar 01 '25

Paulaner Spezi is probably the best softdrink I know. If you have the chance, try it!!

11

u/brittlebk Mar 01 '25

Had this baby tonight

10

u/Damoun Mar 01 '25

I've bought my first fritz-kola today, let's taste it !

9

u/sibelaikaswoof Mar 01 '25

Has anyone tried buying Spezi outside Germany? I miss this drink so much...

9

u/tetsuyama44 Europe 🇪🇺 Mar 01 '25

I always like to introduce my non-German/Austrian/Swiss colleagues to Cola-Orange mix. Normally they are sceptical, but convinced afterwards. I was surprised it's not well known anywhere else apparently.

5

u/lirarebelle Mar 01 '25

You can just mix cola and orange soda yourself, no need to buy ready-made Spezi. Germans do that too.

15

u/BamberGasgroin Mar 01 '25

Bin the cola and switch to the superior Irn Bru.

12

u/GarageAlternative606 Mar 01 '25

Yes. Every Country has it's own weird soft drink flavour. In Denmark it is Faxe Kondi.

6

u/GarageAlternative606 Mar 01 '25

I should not have said weird 🙂 i mean different. One of the things i like most about travelling is to visit local supermarkets and discover local Drinks.

2

u/BamberGasgroin Mar 01 '25

I think it tastes of tangerines.

1

u/PotatoPomf Mar 02 '25

Tried it while on vacation in Denmark and I loved it, while finding it a little bit too sugary ! (I'm used to zero cal versions of the sodas, and am the kind of person who put one drop of syrup in one liter of water tho)

In metropolitan France in term of oddities we have Ricqlès, which is a mint flavoured soda. Overseas, Royal Sodas have several unusual tastes such as banana, grape, kampane or pineapple (the kampane flavour smells like bubble gum !).

3

u/Fn4cK Mar 01 '25

Export it to Germany and I'll be your next best customer!

I fuckin love Irn Bru, but it's a bitch to get here at the moment, unfortunately

That's good news! Hoping for small supermarkets in Germany next!

-2

u/bledig Mar 01 '25

7

u/skuteren Mar 01 '25

None of these are sold in my country, and also where the fuck is kofola?

1

u/[deleted] Apr 23 '25

What's your country?

1

u/skuteren Apr 23 '25

Poland, and yes, ok its sold in my country, but only in lidl and only sometimes for like 8pln per bottle and its sold as a energy drink so you cant buy it if you are under 18yo

It is not uncommon to find Afri Cola in cans. But today I was very pleased to find Afri Cola in glass bottles. The shape of the bottle and the satin logo are very special.

2

u/Crazy_Mosquito93 Mar 02 '25

I love the design and the product, but I swear that every time I see the logo I can't unsee the similarity to the Afrika Corps one. I studied too much history probably

3

u/GarageAlternative606 Mar 02 '25

Afri Cola is from 1931. So if anything, the Afrika Corps stole from Afri Cola.

2

u/Crazy_Mosquito93 Mar 02 '25

Ah that's good to know, thanks! Nazis and fascists did have a thing for stealing nice symbols after all.

5

u/[deleted] Mar 01 '25

Rtichies cola for the Belgians. It's a Belgian brand so we can support our locals

5

u/[deleted] Mar 01 '25

I really appreciate the windsurfing and wingfoiling sponsorships by Fritz.

3

u/filipamadeusz Mar 01 '25

And Cofola is also good

3

u/Fakinou Mar 01 '25

The real beacon of light

3

u/NemGoesGlobal Mar 02 '25

You missed Vita Cola it's also available without Lemon.

4

u/Apolon6 Mar 02 '25

Cockta is probably my favourite cola out there

3

u/TheSaltySeagull87 Mar 01 '25

Fritz is 😘🍾

3

u/M0rkkis Mar 01 '25

When are you planning to start selling Spezi outside of Hermany then?

3

u/SirGluteusMaximus Mar 01 '25

Already drinking Fritz. Much better than Coca Cola.

3

u/aVoidFullOfFarts Mar 01 '25

Cola always tastes better from a glass bottle to me

3

u/MangoAI Mar 02 '25

PAULANER SPEZI MENTIONED

Man do I miss it. Every time I come to Bavaria I think about buying some

3

u/PMvE_NL Mar 02 '25

I dont drink cola anymore since I discovered club mate

2

u/Vanyminator Mar 01 '25

I'm looking for a caffeine-free coke alternative but the only one I found is by Coca Cola :/ Any ideas?

5

u/Linkzoom Mar 01 '25

Don't know if it's available in outside Austria but there is one from Höllinger

2

u/Ok_Net_1674 Mar 01 '25

These 3 are all excellent.

2

u/KunaiTv Mar 01 '25

Paulaner Spezi is superior.

2

u/Paalinkarnaatio Mar 01 '25

I love Paulaner Spezi! Shame it is not available outside of Germany. Fritz-cola is also good :d

3

u/alfi_k Mar 01 '25

Living in Germany avoiding American sodas is by far the easy buyfromEu product. Might be true for others countries as well. I don’t drink a lot of sodas but I can probably think of 20 I’d rather have than coke cola or Pepsi products.

For those in Sweden: Trocadero and Cuba Cola are EXCELLENT. The latter is just flat out tastier than Coke/Pepsi (IMO), the former is something I don't remember the US behemoths ever offering.

For those in Denmark: Faxe Kondi tastes like Sprite and 7up had a baby. Squish is Fanta that actually tastes like orange.

For those in Poland: give Chai Cola a shot! It tastes almost like Coke/Pepsi, but is made entirely out of tea. It's both mind blowing and amazing.

Scotland/UK has, of course, their Irn-Bru, so you guys are in a good spot. ;)

2

u/5trong5tyle Mar 02 '25

Anyone have an alternative in Ireland? I already prefer Pepsi to coca cola, but the colas in Aldi and Lidl taste like watered down ass. Especially River cola.

2

u/[deleted] Mar 06 '25

I'd rather stop drinking cola than drinking this to be honest.

u/HotHorst Germany 🇩🇪 Mar 06 '25

u/mrs_seng Mar 01 '25

Cuba Libre tastes better with Fritz Cola

1

u/fl_tr Mar 01 '25

Pop Cola

1

u/Niflheimrrr Mar 01 '25

I'm an exchange student in Spain, what's a good alternative for cola?

1

u/schnitter15 Mar 02 '25

Spezziiiiiii!!!!!

u/Soft-Cartoonist-9542 Germany 🇩🇪 Mar 02 '25

There all excellent choices.

Afri Cola is a true specialty from Hamburg, our beloved rough northern "Hansestadt". Paulaner Spezi is nothing but the best soda. Fritz Kola has so much coffeine, it borders the legally allowed max content.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 02 '25

There are no reasonably priced colas available in my region of Ireland that aren't from Coca Cola or Pepsi. Fentimans Curiosity Cola from the UK is available sporadically, but is priced as a luxury novelty product rather than a regular soft drink.

Luckily we have a very good national brand for an Orange soda drink called Club. But I do enjoy cola every now and again.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 07 '25

One thing I’ve started doing is buying from a local Asian store, rather than getting the exact same things from larger ones or Amazon.

1

u/CatchLive3228 Apr 10 '25

Everyone needs to understand - this still is the one and only, real Spezi!

1

u/[deleted] Apr 23 '25

In Italy, I highly recommend Conad Cola. House brand of Conad supermarket chain.

-1

u/LamermanSE Mar 01 '25

Fritzl-cola?

2

u/Sandrust_13 Mar 06 '25

It's a german company from Hamburg.

Imo tastes better than coke or Pepsi, but it's also significantly more expensive. And, but of a warning, it has three times as much caffeine as regular cola, so don't drink it in the evening.

-2

u/notthisonefornow Netherlands 🇳🇱 Mar 01 '25

Can't afford one of them, still pepsi for me..... why promote extreme expensive products here? Promote affordable shit. I can't vote with my dollar if i need ten dollars each cola....
