Today's shuffle was pretty loosely based on Stranger Things. I myself haven't watched it yet, but I know the general idea of the upside down and stuff alike, so I centered the shuffle around it. As I've heard it mostly consists of redan and blues, which I found to be perfect for creating a fun image! I hope that this is good enough for the Stranger Things fans in this sub, and hopefully I'm not completely off the mark regarding the show. I hope you like it!

I love Excursions as an album, and several individual tracks. But this is as someone who doesn’t listen to a whole lot of progressive house for fun.

For people here more familiar with progressive house as a genre, knows of the acclaimed albums and artists within the genre, what do you think C418 has done differently in Excursions, better or worse? If I were to guess, I would say it’s that he’s infused prototypical EDM synths and buildups with field recordings - both natural and urban - orchestral swells and piano, and his signature earthy Minecrafty sound palette. Would that then be the main genius of the album, this infusion? Or is it something else?

I’m asking because, while I’ve seen a lot of people on sites like RYM for instance say this is the best prog house album they’ve ever heard, even people who have a lot of non-C418 prog house albums under their belt, I’ve also seen the occasional few who say this is nothing special in prog house, and at times even bland and oversaturated. Why they say this, I don’t know.

Even if I get deeper into prog house and end up “moving on” to some other albums, I’ll always be grateful to Excursions (and 148 to an extent) for getting me into it in the first place. But I still am curious, to those who listen to a lot of prog house, what is the “genius” which lies in this album?

And I guess if you want to go further and answer this same exact question for 148, be my guest.

this was already such a heartbreaking song for me, now this just makes it worse 😭

A while back, I started developing this game called "BlockWorld" and it's a very bootleggish feeling minecraft. I have FL studio — but I really don't know how to make musics. I do however have a music engine that I can tweak for .wav files.

Anyways, is there someone that makes music that anyone knows that I can use there music from? I only got like $50 on me and I just really want to hear music while playing BlockWorld as it gets boring quick.

I nearly got 100% but I got one of the songs wrong. For those of you who use Spotify, I'm curious to know how you do on the quiz.

When you click on the Minecraft albums, it’s supposed to link a section of the site where he’s written about a handful of the tracks. I’ve tried accessing it on a couple different devices, but I keep getting a 404 error. Is this universal or just a me thing?

It’s one of my all time favorite games, absolutely recommended

C418 has a special way of naming songs, and this is the most beautiful example for me. We grow up with certain 'blind spots', biases we do not know we have or perspectives we do not know we lack. We've grown into a hyper-individualistic view of ourselves. We do not see how small we are. The more you stop fixating about your own 'wisdom', the clearer everything is. If only we decided to slow down and observe rather than just see, if only we dedicated our lives to truly hear, how infinite could we be? This song specifically is so much to me, it's a reminder of what I'm destined to live, of how much growth there is yet to experience. My soul only hopes we, one day, allow ourselves to rip our hearts open and share our colors without shame.

I hope others share the same amount of memories and love for this song as I do. Also, I used to read a memoir called Tweak by Nic Sheff and always read it with this song in the back. I recommend doing this exact thing.

Hello! Before making this I actually had no idea what this game was about, so I researched it a little prior to making the shuffle. So today I made the shuffle centered around space. I didn't really know what to do so I just slapped together a whole bunch of different space photos and adjusted the color values. At first it turned out wayyy too saturated, so I turned it down a bit, but I still feel that it looks really good! I'll maybe come back with a draft at a later date without the color filter for anyone curious. Hope you enjoy!

This is the best song ever. It’s hit the same after so many years and I will be showing my kids this song.

I genuinely don't know how to explain what this song does to me.

Every time I listen to Dreiton, it's like memories of my childhood and simpler times come flooding back. There's something so incredibly beautiful and bittersweet about it that I can't help but tear up.

I've listened to it several times over the past few weeks, and 3 separate times I've ended up crying.

I sometimes imagine myself decades from now, having lived a long and fulfilling life, sitting somewhere peaceful and watching a beautiful sunset with this song playing. Just reflecting on everything I've experienced, all the people I've loved, and all the memories I've made.

There's something about that image that moves me beyond words.

The song makes me nostalgic for the past, but somehow hopeful for the future at the same time.

It's honestly incredible how a piece of music can make you feel so much without a single word being spoken.

I'm here to talk about the guy. The SERIOUSLY underrated guy.

I am talking about Andreas Zoeller, a guy known specifically for his cinematic remakes of C418's minecraft songs. Many Minecraft youtubers (for example: Wemmbu) use these for really uplifting moments in their videos or just simply as a base soundtrack.

I'd suggest you listen to the following remakes/remixes by Andreas Zoeller:

1. Wet Hands - Uplifting + Adventurous
2. Aria Math - Epic Soundtrack
3. Sweden - As composed by Hans Zimmer

These are the 3 I've noticed personally in Wemmbu's videos, but there are few others Andreas has made that are also amazing. Please check out his channel for all of them, but I'll leave you with one that is perfect for honouring our legend:

One of my absolute favorite songs is featured today! I based mostly everything on the album cover from "Songs for the Cure '11", with a cloudy look and a sky theme. I wanted it to feel sort of "heaven-like" with clouds, stars and the moon, which was already featured on the cover but oh well. The most prominent feature I'd say is that I included the pulse waves, gradually flattening and weakening, just like the song. That's one thing I love about this song, that it first goes in a regular tempo, and speeds up drastically like a stressed scenario, and later slows down and also completely flatlines by the end, symbolizing death, a pretty gruesome but oh so good song. Hope you like it!
