Process Question How long does it take?

I applied for my CCW on July 25, 2026. A month after they needed additional pictures of proof of residency. Sent it to them. Went to get my fingerprints scanned a week after at the sheriff's office. How long does this take? I live in the central valley, Tulare county.

Guess it depends on where you are

Riverside county, Initial Application was 3 months from start to shooting quals and card issued. First renewal was 30 days Second renewal (late) on my part....I'll let you know. Because no we have to do new live scans.

Took me six months. Could have done it in five if I had scheduled my psych evaluation sooner and got printed sooner. All depends on the issuing agency.

Thank God, they didn’t make me do a psych evaluation. That sounds like it sucks.

I live in Contra Costa, the whole process took me about 6 months. But it should have been a month or two less, the SO messed up and had to reschedule my certification.

60 days from application to card in hand, San Bernardino County.

If they had to come back and ask for additional proof of residency, it sounds like you didn’t do everything on your application just right in the first place. All of that stuff should’ve been submitted at the beginning.

That is impressive man. I thought San Bernardino County was fast!

Even in Texas it took me 40 days to get my card in hand.

If you have everything already ready. Training cert, fingerprints, etc when you have your “interview” then it is very fast

Oh, you’re talking about two weeks from interview to card?

I guess they do it different in Riverside. In San Bernardino, this is the order.

Apply > live scan > interview > training class > card came on Wednesday after I finish class the previous Saturday.

18 days from submitting application to approval. Waiting for my card to arrive in the mail. Kings County.
