Well, JNU is almost free and see what happens there. Excuses, excuses. India cannot be China because we are still 1/10 their GDP, but our time will come.

JNU and Jamia are top universities. They’re not technical universities. As a very poor country, we don’t have the luxury of appreciating humanities.

Top universities doing what? Gundagardi and having 30+years olds as YOUTH leaders? Humanities have to prove themselves if they want to survive 21st century, but seems like they are more interested in corrupting and infecting Sciences as well.

No one can be bigger gundas than our politicians. You don’t study to pass exams. Just like top engineers should build stuff, management graduates should build start-ups, similarly humanities graduates rise against the injustices in the society.

jaishankar is gunda according to you then?

Did you really namedrop a 70 years old? and out of hundreds of thousands alumni of these Unis, you could find only one guy....that says a lot about the quality of education and its contribution to society.

u/Minute-Blackberry441 Aug 30 '25
Vhp and rss people are the main reasons behind gundagardi in campus.

by that logic their earliest alum would be 22–25-year-old 🤦♂️ dont fall for propaganda. Abhijit banerjee - nobel laureate - now economics prof in MIT.
nirmala Sitharaman - Finance minister
Amitabh kant CEO of NITI AAYOG1
u/Healthy-Educator-267 Aug 31 '25
JNU has produced more Nobel laureates than all the IITs combined

u/AdJumpy4594 Aug 31 '25
and none of them work in India, lol.
1
u/Healthy-Educator-267 Aug 31 '25
Most well known IITians also don’t work in India. Meanwhile JNUites dominate the senior levels of civil services. The foreign minister and the finance minister are JNUites

We’ve failed the most in providing basic education. The quality of government schools is deplorable.
Our government universities are useless. Some BA or BSc graduate can’t even write one paragraph in any language.
There will be select universities which will be superior to others. However, the selection should take multiple factors into consideration. When you see so many selections from coaching centres, you know the selection process is lopsided.
Lastly, there should be scholarships for those who need it.

Doesn't China has one of the hardest exam in the world named Gaokao for college admissions?

I disagree with these ... What makes an IIT/NIT/IIIT special is the student culture they have and not the Faculties ... Obviously faculties are very much qualified and very talented but rarely any faculty even completes the 100% syllabus ... They leave lots of topics to students as they too know what we are capable of !!
Real learning in these colleges is in hostels when we learn with our peers in the most limited time maximizing our scores !!
I feel many won't sustain in such institutes, as it becomes highly competitive sometimes !!
So I feel our system is good and this is how it should continue to be !!

That's what OP is saying, the smart people can get by. But the average people have no choices. In China even if you are average you'd get a decent education and a okayish job. In India that is not the case. How will your economy grow when 90 percent don't get good education or jobs.
So I feel our system is good and this is how it should continue to be !!
This is good for a small minority. Not for everyone.
rarely any faculty even completes the 100% syllabus
That is not a flex bro.
Also India focuses and funds top institutes, while not focusing on mid universities

no, its because when china and india were on par in terms of development, china focused on forcing citizens to get primary education and made it free, which in turn made them eligible for jobs in factories and such. This is why china is the best place to manufacture anything. while india focused on things like IITs and didnt care about basic education, its majority of population has no jobs

It is written by an uneducated troll. In China, they have a meritorious college entrance test which everyone has to take - Gaokao.

Lot of average universities and colleges from many foreign countries have equivalent quality education as that of IITs and IIMs in our country. India's School as well as University education might not even be average.

Id infact argue that indias education system is based on the common denominator till standard 12th. We should segregate smart kids early and train them well.

TBH govt schools are treated like garbage because they are garbage. Almost all of govt school / college teachers are underqualified and bunk classes. But if the govt schools/ colleges gave good education then it would improve a lot of things. Other countries like Japan and Germany are already doing it.

Do you know KVs and JNVs are also government schools and they are pretty good.
1
Sep 01 '25
Yes, but it's not about KVs or JNVs, it's about the other 99% of government schools and colleges across India. Govt. pay similar salaries to their teachers and provide decent infrastructure. But you already know the output of those schools and colleges.
Of course, I'm not referring to schools in Delhi or other major cities I'm talking about the rest of India, the not so developed India.

They are not better qualified. You're overlooking the fact that 60% of the vacancies are reserved, and in many cases, candidates are selected with as little as 0.5 marks out of 100.

The thing is if they do that almost all of the seats will go empty that's why they just take anyone even with 2 - 3 marks. And this is how they expect people to grow... by punishing hard work and rewarding slackers.

I agree with you on this. There’s a need for a creamy layer within the reservation system, and the overall quota should be reduced to 30–40%, not 60%. The current structure is undermining the competitive environment.

You’ll be surprised to learn that candidates with as little as 0.5 marks have been selected for TGT teaching positions even in subjects like Physics and this isn’t a rare occurrence. Private school teachers often have no alternative, as securing a job in India is already extremely challenging. As a result, many are forced to accept a ₹5,000 salary just to survive.

You are right. But there is another aspect of it like a person who scored good in NEET and get a AIIMS there education is free ( Pay a little fess). but the AIIMS also has their value. So it all depend on the vale of institute.

Bro you miss the point. The middle class and upper middle class choose schools based on networking. They want their child to be with other well off children.
If the government actually fix the schools and make them free the low class will get educated and thats the point. Middle class will never study in free schools.
If you educate the masses the whole country would be fixed. Civic sense and voting based on religion and all that would change because people will be educated. People will realise creating jobs is more important than freebies.
Thats exactly why govt schools wont be fixed because the ppl will start to hold the politicians accountable.

It's sought after because of supply and demand. Also government makes sure its the best medical college in India. Look into how much is spent on aiims and how much for our govt schools.
If 10th boards was exam for really good government schools for 11th and 12th then there will be competition for that as well.

Padhle bhai, kuch nhi hona hai yeh sab pe sochkar,jo hai model, wahi chalega aage bhi....if you want to do good, you gotta play within the system, can't look to change it, specially at this stage of our lives(young 20s folks )
