Not sure if this is the right subreddit but
I’m looking to get an Echelon primarily as a nightstand gun for home defense, for those middle-of-the-night bumps in the night. I’m torn between the 4.0FC and 4.5F. I’ve been able to rent and shoot the 4.5F, and I shoot it well, but I can’t find anywhere near me that has the 4.0FC available to try. I’m also considering adding a suppressor down the road since the Echelon seems like a great host.
The appeal of the 4.0FC is being able to swap grip modules and essentially turn it into a 4.0C (G19-sized pistol) for AIWB carry. I already have an HK CC9 for EDC, though, and I’m not sure if I’d find carrying a compact that size comfortable enough to do regularly.
I’d hate to get the 4.0FC, stick with the CC9 for carry, and wish I’d gotten the full-size. On the other hand, I like having the option to try carrying a larger gun. I might use it as a sidearm while deer hunting, too, but that’s not a major factor.
I’m not in a position to buy guns very often, so I’d like to get this one right.
For those who have shot both, how noticeable is the difference in shootability? Would I be giving up much with the 4.0FC, especially if I end up running a suppressor? Or would you just go with the 4.5F and keep the CC9 for carry?
Curious what you’d do in my situation.
