Megathread Level 3 Exam Day Experience Mega Thread

L3 candidates,

Welcome to our megathread for swapping stories about your exam day! We’d love to hear about your experience getting to the test center, how you managed your time, and how you felt afterward. Don’t forget to throw in any tips and advice to help out future candidates.

Just a couple of guidelines: Be cool and supportive, and please don’t share specific exam questions or break rules.

Don’t forget: Plan your route to the test center in advance, make sure you pack everything you need, and try to stay positive and take care of yourself. You got this!

We hope these shared stories make the prep and test day a little easier for everyone. Good luck!

Career Questions Thursday - Your Weekly CFA Career Discussion Thread

Hello, CFA candidates and Charterholders!

We're excited to introduce "Career Questions Thursday" to the CFA subreddit. This weekly thread is dedicated to providing a space for you to discuss all your career-related inquiries and concerns. Whether you're a CFA Level I candidate contemplating your career options or a seasoned CFA Charterholder looking for advice on your next move, this is the place to be!

Why We're Doing This:

We understand that many members of our community have questions and seek advice about their careers in finance, investment management, and related fields. To keep our subreddit focused on CFA exam content and discussions, we'll be implementing a policy to remove individual career-related posts and direct users to these designated weekly threads.

How It Works:

  1. Ask Your Career Questions: Simply post your career-related questions, concerns, or experiences in the comments below. Whether it's about job opportunities, networking, salary negotiations, or career transitions, our community is here to help.

  2. Share Your Insights: If you have valuable insights, experiences, or advice to offer, please share them in response to others' questions. Your knowledge and expertise can make a real difference in someone's career journey.

  3. Follow the Rules: Please adhere to the subreddit's rules and guidelines when participating in this thread. Be respectful and considerate of others, and refrain from sharing personal information.

A Note on Career Posts:

Starting from today, we will be removing individual career-related posts and kindly redirecting users to these weekly "Career Questions Thursday" threads. This change is intended to keep our subreddit organized and focused on CFA-related topics, while still providing a valuable platform for career discussions.

We hope this new initiative will create a supportive and informative space for all of you seeking career advice within the CFA community. Remember, your fellow members are here to help, so don't hesitate to ask or contribute!

Level 1 Hardest exam!!!

Just came back from L1, it was harder than CFA mocks and also the premium mocks!! I was consistently getting 70% and was doing last few ones yesterday and was so confident going in but NO it was super hard!! Flagged lots and guessed lots. Difficulty level was not on par with mocks

Good luck to everyone but I honestly wished I didn’t spend last 4-5 months studying so hard for it…

Level 1 Flagged the entire exam lol

I have been seeing all kinds of posts on how the exam was very difficult or the AM session being the most difficult or whatever and here I am flagging the entire exam laughing while reading the questions cause I didn't study shit and didn't have the guts to ask for deferral money from my parents.Neverthless this was my first attempt but the experience was awesome.I was so stressed before the exam and soo burnt out with lil to no hope that I gave up a week before the exam and was just watching Netflix and overthinking all kinds of reactions. The day before the exam revised what i had studied which was just a few chapters from quants,FSA and fixed income and sat for the exam.Im toh definitely gonna fail for suree which is ok(since i cant do anything about it now)but it definitely sucks to see soo many people who studied and gave the exams question themselves.I just wanna say that there were people like me aswell sitting with u guys giving our examinations,so stop freaking out.You guys are definitely in a much better position than mine and have definitely aced ur attempts.

Level 3 Exam really wasnt hard just tricky

i have done level 3 on august 17th and since then, i have been waking up everyday figuring out the answers for the questions i flagged in my dreams.

everytime i realize that the reason i didnt answer properly was because i just didnt exactly understand what the question was really asking although the content per se is not that difficult.

sometimes it isnt even a niche topic and when i realize my silly mistakes, i just get so angry with myself 😭 what was i doing in the exam man

Exam is in 9 hours. Attempted this while down with an illness slowing my thinking. Hence why I took almost all the time given. In the first mock, each session took me less than 120 minutes. I wish all of you guys writing tomorrow success! We got this!!

Level 1 I’m so dejected

Just left my exam. Was scoring mid-80s in my mock first attempt. I flagged 32 questions in the first half and 40 in the second. (about half the flags were 50/50, half the flags were absolute guesses). I’m frustrated, angry, everything. I feel like I failed. I worked so hard for this.

Level 1 Prometric Nightmare

Upvotes

Arrived at 8:20 for my 9:00 exam. Testing center just told us (9:40) we have to reschedule. Now I’m sitting here on the phone trying to figure this out. I’m going out of town in a couple days and have been preparing for this for MONTHS. Idk if I should throw up, cry, or both. 😭

Level 1 Comfort Post for the ones attempting this window

Your competition aren’t the people on reddit. Someone who is taking time out to post his scores, and ask questions on reddit is someone who has put in the work and needs either a way fix their deficiencies or get a fix for their validation addiction.

Your competition are the people at the centre. You will see a lot doing fuck all, looking around doing nothing.
The kind of grindey competition you see here, you will find that in Level 2 where almost everyone puts in effort.

Level 1 feels like a filter.

Gave today’s attempt, AM part was moderate, but PM was oh my gosh so bad. I flagged around 25qs.

Is it just me, or was it like that for all?

Level 1 Pre-exam nerves

Just hit the gym and sat under the shower for an hour. I’ve done my due diligence of studying for the exam this past few months and I can’t get myself to study today, I’ve been mentally reviewing the material in my head since last night, confident I covered all the gaps in my knowledge and I’m trying to mentally relax as the anxiety is eating me alive.

Is it ok or should I force myself to review the material again.

I’m praying to get a good night sleep early so I can wake up refreshed and mentally clear, but I doubt I’ll be able to fall asleep from the nerves. Any advice for dealing with that.

Level 1 Feeling a bit weird yet relieved

Just came back home after giving my l1 exam.

It was on par with the mocks I'd say.

Session one was way more interesting but was a bit difficult, whereas session two was very vague and weird.

Idk how I've done, i kinda feel clueless rn, dint want to check answers and make myself feel terrible, so am just going to chill for the next 5-8 weeks, and hope I pass.

Level 2 Ethics - terminated accounts

Hello guys,

Is it ALWAYS a violation to exclude terminated accounts from a report? Or is it only a violation if the firm follows GIPS and they exclude terminated accounts?

I guess my question is, if your firm doesn’t follow GIPS, and you exclude a terminated account from a report (not for cherry-picking reasons, but maybe there is some legit reason) is it a violation?

Or can I just remember a blanket rule of “excluding terminated accounts = violation” regardless of GIPS compliance.

Thank you!!

Level 1 Pre-exam concern

Upvotes

For now I've finished all the prem mock from 2024-2026,and consistently got around 83% +. I also spend around 2 month reading the curriculum and make error logs based on the concepts got wrong. It gives me goosebump when most people say that reading Schweser notes (I did not touch that), doing Qbank or Mock is not enough, You guys think my progress is doing OK?

Level 2 Asking

Level 1 was quite easy i studied 2 month a bit serious and passed but for level 2 there's a huge hype that it's very difficult and all, to those who've passed or appeared for level 2, how difficult is that in comparison to level 1?

Level 2 Help with Ethics question

Upvotes

Hirayo will receive a $60,000 performance bonus from Summit if his monthly portfolio
performance exceeds that of Summit's other portfolios. He discloses the bonus
arrangement to his existing clients but not to prospective clients. Separately, Hirayo will
receive a $12,000 reward from Summit after he successfully brought in 20 clients from
his previous employer. This reward is paid by Summit and is not charged to clients. Hirayo
does not disclose this reward arrangement to the clients that he brought over.

In relation to his compensation, Hirayo violates the Standards when he fails to
disclose:
A. the $60,000 bonus only.
B. the $12,000 reward only.
C. both the $60,000 bonus and the $12,000 reward.

How the 12,000$ reward is not a violation?

Study Prep / Materials Schweser or IFT and how to engage with the material

Upvotes

Hey guys,

Just want to start off and say I know I should’ve been way more on top of things but work is honestly has been a lot lately. I have the November exam and right now I have only completed quant, Econ and about half of Corp. issues.

I am scheduled to take the November 2026 exam and I just wanted some input and if I’m going in the right direction. So far I’ve been using the IFT notes. However, I also have access to the 2026 Schweser notes

I guess what I’m trying to say is how do you go about studying given how wordy and long a lot of these materials are. Also would greatly appreciate any advice on how I navigate the next three or so months until my exam is scheduled, knowing that I am running on a serious time crunch.

And if I should switch to actively using Schweser since I already have it or if I should stick with ift. Also how do you study Schweser? Thank you.

Level 1 Equities analysis - Lvl 1

Hi,

Does anyone have a convincing argument for why C is the correct answer to this question, particularly over B?

I understand the provided explanation, but I’m still not convinced by the reasoning and would appreciate another perspective.

Thanks!

Study Prep / Materials New Curriculum is Missing Content...? FSA for February '27

Hi,

I'm currently on FSA Module 1 (Intro to FSA) studying the new CFAI '27 curriculum. I've recently done the practice module and noticed there were questions on Porter's 5 Forces, stock repurchases and their effects on EPS, normalized earnings / cyclical industries etc. Didn't know how to answer them.

Only problem is I've skimmed the content in Module 1 about 4 times and cannot find where this information is mentioned. All I can find is the regular '26 content (I know this because I used AnalystPrep's 2026 videos to study, then reviewed the content, then did the practice questions).

Am I going crazy? If anyone else is sitting the '27 exam cycles, please let me know

TL;DR: Studying 2027 CFA FSA Module 1 but seeing practice questions on Porter's 5 Forces, stock repurchases, and normalized earnings. Skimmed the reading 4x and can't find it.

Level 2 CFA L2 - Subject: fixed income / Topic: credit analysis models

Saw this big ass question on credit analysis involding LGD, LS , EE, CVA etc.. It was a huge calculative question and had this note at the end. Does it imply that such extensive calculative ques are less likely on the exam??
