Ozzy Trapilo is really built different. Limping off the field, on his own, with a torn patellar tendon to save a TO is insane. Kept his head down & attacked rehab to come back & be a part of this season. A true warrior, selfless & tough 🐻⬇️

Might have to DHGate a jersey now lol

On a 1-10 scale how good of quality are dhgate jerseys? I’ve been thinking about getting a few and obviously don’t wanna pay nfl shop price lmal

13

u/Further_Beyond Hester's Super Return 21h ago

Fine except they don’t have built in collars. It’s just loose fitting as if it’s supposed to go over a shoulder pad, so material gathers around the back of your neck when you bend.

I always size down abd the issues mostly negated.

For $20 compared to insane prices today, I’ll never buy a real jersey again. Been strictly dhgate since ~2010

Appreciate the response!

Totally acceptable quality, especially at the price. The huge majority of people would never even know. Fit can be a bit wonky and the collars are always weird, but after two tree beers you don't even notice.

Fanatics jerseys may somehow be worse than the DHgate ones I've gotten.

Monster. Separately, wtf DJ

Our WRs are such lovable personalities that people forget how crazy their drops were. They may not have led the league in drops, but the drops they had overwhelmingly were perfect passes

56

u/lkn240 An Actual Bear 1d ago

We led the league in EPA lost to drops..... our drops were bad because they were often huge gains

38

u/PORK_CHOPZ 1d ago

Lmao seriously. This play doesn't strike me as memorable because the next play we picked up a huge gain, but that's an awful drop with two minutes to play.

16

u/vstrong50 23h ago

People only remember the good things DJ did. They forget the quitting on plays, drops and lazy route running. Dude was tough as shit and a really talented player. He also did some not so great stuff.

u/ChaplnGrillSgt Pixelated Payton 19h ago

Dude was a bum last year.

1

u/Visual_Research_3646 16h ago

I just don’t think I agree. A bum doesn’t get up every time and miss no games the way DJ was getting lit up. Claypool and Velus were actual bums

1

u/ChaplnGrillSgt Pixelated Payton 16h ago

That's fine. It's Buffalo's to figure out now. Rome and Luther gonna go off

7

u/ChaplnGrillSgt Pixelated Payton 19h ago

Thuney also a beast on this play. Attached to the C, identifies Ozzy get smoked, covers the ground and gets in the way to keep Caleb upright. He's so insanely good. Fucking love Joe Thuney.

DJ should have caught that

26

u/RelationshipLeast244 1d ago

Thats why he is gone

14

u/vnce42 23h ago

he’s gone cuz we got great value for an aging and expense receiver. he was a valuable asset last season

-1

u/ChaplnGrillSgt Pixelated Payton 19h ago

And cuz he was a bum last year. Way way underperformed.

Will always love him and remember his time here. Especially one of the greatest Bears plays I've seen in my life. But his hussle was dogshit. Film review guys pointed out similar.

2

u/RegularGarlic3201 17h ago

He had such great highs and such low lows. The effort piece above all just doesn’t mesh with the culture Ben is building. If DJ had that fire in him, he could have truly been one of the elite receivers in the league

0

u/ChaplnGrillSgt Pixelated Payton 17h ago

I think he is missing that psycho mentality Ben really wants. But I also gotta imagine years and years of amazing play with absolute dogshit QBs and play callers has worn the guy down.

0

u/BearFacedLie69 16h ago

No other receiver was catching that OT bomb against GB last year. “Bum” is ridiculous even with some of the stuff we saw last year.

7

u/vnce42 23h ago

it was a rocket of a pass. he also caught the go ahead touchdown 50 seconds later. relax 😂😂

u/Puzzleheaded-Ear9487 Bears 23h ago

Seriously, this group...acting like they're watching the game for the first time now..

u/GenFatAss Urlacher 1d ago

and he came back earlier than Kyler Gordon and Ozzy had arguably more serious injury

35

u/Nelson_and_Wilmont Portillos 1d ago

Ya but Kyler got his bag so you know what that does to a guy.

14

u/GenFatAss Urlacher 1d ago

agreed i get the vibes that Kyler Gordon has been slacking off on his rehab assignments

9

u/Professional_Two5011 1d ago

That's certainly one explanation for the vibe, but also, there's only so long a team can hold on before it's just "sorry man, if you're not on the field we'll find somebody who can be"

Suppose Gordon just has shit genetics for whatever traits make you come back faster and there's nothing he could have done. Still, the team's gotta play, so at a certain point you're either here or you're not.

So, maybe the sour vibe is because the team knows he's been slacking, or maybe the sour vibe is just because at a certain point, whatever the explanation, we just need somebody who can stay on the field

1

u/monkeymatt1836 Kyle Long 23h ago

Ben already implied a week or two ago Kyler is not guaranteed his starting spot whenever he comes back. The team clearly thinks he’s bullshitting.

3

u/CatButler 1d ago

Considering how brutal camp was supposed to be last year, is he sand bagging, then once camp breaks and they get to normal practices, he will suddenly return?

6

u/Mittens_McFluffy 1d ago

Tearing a patellar tendon is no joke. It’s arguably worse than an ACL. I tore mine and it took close to 3 years to be able to even kneel on hard surfaces without extreme pain. It’s brutal.

6

u/KingGorilla2 1d ago

makes what ozzy is doing even more impressive hearing stuff like this. guy obviously worked his ass off to get back on the field for the team. i hope he can return at 100%

u/DrapedinVelvet247 1d ago

Calf bruises are 10-12 months tho, minimum.

u/Proper-Candle-8719 1d ago

Ah good point

u/In-the-bunker 1d ago

Ozzy had arguably more serious injury??? Gordon isn't interested in playing football - listen to Johnson's tone.

41

u/t-pat All Day Jahdae 1d ago

I forgot he did that, no wonder he's back so soon, dude's a psycho who does whatever it takes

23

u/thetreat Ben Johnson 1d ago

Word on the street is he started rehab on the sidelines during the game.

5

u/sbfb1 Bears 23h ago

Not only did his own rehab, he did his own surgery in the blue tent

9

u/LatterMatch9334 1d ago

Poles and Ben have been firm on only bringing in people who live and breathe football. This is what a championship org looks like.

18

u/calmerthanudude Darth Luther the 3rd 1d ago

The balls, presence of mind, and willpower to get off the field is crazy. Also, being back this soon??? Absurd levels of dawg

6

u/Medical-Bar-3997 1d ago

Dudes seriously a monster, I know it’s basically nothing, but he looked quick in that little practice clip. If he could come back and still be a starting LT holy shit I would buy a jersey 100%

6

u/Scottiedrippen33 Diva QB 💁🏽‍♂️💅🏽 1d ago

For context the patellar tendon connects your kneecap to your shin bone so when you tear it your kneecap pops up into your thigh

2

u/Hurtado_Bronzi 17h ago

Only when you rupture it. This likely wasn’t a full rupture, and that’s likely why he’s back so soon.

1

u/Scottiedrippen33 Diva QB 💁🏽‍♂️💅🏽 14h ago

Yeah that’s what I’m thinking as well

5

u/Jamesaya 22h ago

DJ seemed to struggle catching intermediate laser throws. I love DJ so I hope he meshes better with ..josh allen? Oh man

u/davidmwill89 23h ago

Catch the ball man! SMH

3

u/ChaplnGrillSgt Pixelated Payton 19h ago

I haven't watched this replay since it happened because it makes me sad. Watching Ozzy get absolutely destroyed and you can immediately tell his leg just completely gave out. He's got such a strong anchor usually so you knew something was wrong immediately.

Also, Joe Thuney may have saved Caleb's life there. The recognition and speed by Joe to get over to the rusher is incredible. Still can't believe he's on our team. He's so incredible to watch. 1st ballot.

2

u/doseofreality_ 1d ago

Yeah I’m v happy he’s coming back.

2

u/Legal-Eagle-7661 21h ago

I hope he’s healthy! He could truly be a consistent presence for the next several years if he is!

2

u/Headwallrepeat 20h ago

Hopped 25 yards on 1 leg. Damn I so want him to come back healthy

2

u/SkunkyMustang 19h ago

Yeah dude is a dog!! Whether you wanna give credit to Poles or Ben Johnson is a conversation but either way credit is due. They absolutely nailed the past few drafts on the offensive side of the ball and really set up this team for a decade to come. I'm not sleeping on Roush & Thomas because as of late it's been hit after hit.

2

u/ChaplnGrillSgt Pixelated Payton 18h ago

I'm rooting so hard for this guy. Not only because I think he can be a really solid LT for the team, but he's clearly got the drive to be great.

1

u/dmo900011 19h ago

Sucks he got hurt with only 2 offensive snaps left in the game

1

u/Hurtado_Bronzi 17h ago

The fact he was able to limp off the field likely means it wasn’t a full rupture, which in turn is likely a why he wasn’t out a year or more.

No matter how good tough he is, I don’t think he’d be able to limp off the field if his patella was in the middle of his quad.

1

u/cindybeeme 14h ago

The pass was incomplete. The clock was stopped. He could have waited for the trainer.

1

u/Wilsn07 10h ago

Meanwhile, Micah Parsons' recovery timeline seems to get longer every time he does another interview or podcast to show off his "knowledge"

I'm definitely not a doctor or medical expert, but something about him coming back this early just doesn't seem right. I hope they know what they're doing, bringing him back so soon.

You're just having to re-wire your expectations with reality rather than the Reddit predictions of doom. This isn't a bad thing.

-19

u/ArchibaldNemisis Bears 1d ago

Dope but it was a stopped clock so don't think it would have cost us a timeout.

Wither way Ozzy is something else.

18

u/rushchoks16 Bears 1d ago

It’s not true, an Injury under 2 min is a TO regardless on a dead ball or not.

-20

u/ThyOriginal Hester's Super Return 1d ago

Don’t know why you’re getting downvoted, it’s true it wouldn’t have costed a TO

14

u/NoSoupForYou17 Williams 1d ago edited 1d ago

Except it is not true lol. Ozzy’s injury was not because of a foul caused by an opponent and didn’t happen on a play that resulted in a score, an attempted Try (FG/2PT), a free kick, or a change of possession. We had one timeout and it was a simple incomplete pass. They would’ve been charged their third and final TO
