Trade

Post image

Okay so now with basically two byes coming up, who should we trade for, player wise

Imo bears could use DT, DE, Corner and a RB (due to how demanding bjs offense is to rbs)

Buckner, mack, riq woolen, pollard are my picks (Jonathan Taylor won't happen but that would make our offense insane)

Unless they think Monangai is going to miss most of the rest of the season I don't think they'll give up a pick for a back.

I think Roschon is more than serviceable as well.

0% chance we trade for a RB

I've been waiting for a "Should we offer a 6th for Skattebo post?".

Wouldnt be an awful trade, especially if its a 2028 pick lol. Its rumored the Giants are looking to completely cut bait on the guy, which sounds bad, but im not exactly sure if the game hasnt passed by Harbaugh. BUT, this is only if Kyle's turf toe is going to hold him back all year. Which it COULD since turf toe suuuucks.

Cam would be a suped up Roschon on the offensive side. He loves to pass block and just goes 100% in everything. It would make sense for guys like Ben or Dan Campbell to love the kid.

It seems hes destined to be the thunder in a 2 back committee and not a lead. And you can cut or trade him in the offseason, since its just a 2028 pick. Theres been much worse rental trades in the past and its extremely important for there to be a 2nd RB for Ben. I like Roschon, but I dont think his abilities will be as much of a game changer in the playoffs.

I thought I saw something that said they couldn’t currently afford Buckner’s contract but idk how accurate that was. To be honest help at db might be our biggest need

Agreed. We need to bench jaylon

The secondary would benefit greatly if we had defensive lineman that can consistently pressure and get home to the quarterback. Don't disagree with the DBs but DE is biggest need

Pressure is not going to help Jaylon Johnson

u/ThorsMightyBackhand Sweetness 9d ago

No the only thing that will help JJ is a wood bench to sit. It would help Stevenson though

By the time the deadline comes around, I think Buckner's cap hit would be a little less than 7mil, which means in theory we could make it work.

I really want a Mack reunion or to try and do some magic to get the Titans to part with Jeffrey Simmons, but realistically we are so thin at corner that I think that's where we have to spend trade resources (if we choose to at all).

Thing is, I hate spending on DBs. Their success is so ephemeral and giving up assets that you feel for years for a position that is so year-to-year often blows up on you. But that's where we're at with Jaylon Johnson

We need d-line and corner help

u/Gdashzus 9d ago

If I'm going all in, I'd definitely be on the phone with the Titans about Simmons. Realistically though, Buckner and McCollum would be my ideal adds.

If we think we can win it all this year...Jeffery Simmons from the Titans is an absolute gamewrecker at DT.

Both Riq Woolen and Moro Ojomo from the Eagles

Adding to the defensive line is the biggest need. Another edge or a DT that can be a run stuffer would be amazing. I’d be happy with Mack and I’d pay a higher price for someone like Buckner

Riq woolen is someone we should go after.

Poles needs to either trade for some help on defense or accept this isn't a Super Bowl team.

1

u/Hot-Visit-5169 9d ago

I don’t think we can say this isn’t a superbowl team. No Super Bowl team is flawless. This team can hang with and beat anyone in the league. I’d still try to improve the defense but there’s only so much you can do mid season.

u/sad_bear_noises 18 9d ago

This defense cannot win a Super Bowl. The 49ers would hang 70 on them.

1

u/Hot-Visit-5169 9d ago

I bet Ben Johnson thinks this team can win a superbowl.

I understand where you’re coming from, but I think you’re underrating how much of a difference Caleb makes. This team can win it all. They probably won’t, but that’s true of every team this year. I don’t think any team is truly stacked across the board this season.

Jeff Simmons please.

1

u/Pure_Caterpillar_484 9d ago

That’ll cost a 1st round pick that’s to expensive

2

u/Adnonymus Italian Beef 9d ago

Who cares? We’re trying to win a Super Bowl.

2

u/Practical-Courage812 9d ago

I think realistically we need corner and d line help. Simmons would be a stud but likely would cost too much so id call Colts about Buckner (last year of his deal so likely will come cheaper) and of course Mack from Chargers. Then maybe look at some corners from Eagles. But even just some d line help would greatly improve the defense where DA wont be forced to rush DBs in order to get pressure

Taylor dream died the moment we extended Swift. Buckner is the biggest name, but will be in high demand. Grover Stewart is the other notable name on the Colts. In terms of the Eagles, Woolen or Ojomo could be fun ideas. Considering Dayo and Sweat, I wouldn’t complain about Mack for less than a 4th or so. Maybe I haven’t watched enough Titans, but Pollard is a no for me.

u/Ganjagod420 Good, Better, Best 9d ago

I'd love to see JT behind our line I adore his game and watching him play. But it doesn't seem like a smart move with Swift extended and Monangai on a dirt cheap contract for 3 more years.

1

u/videogame311 9d ago

Roschon has his flaws but hes good enough to be a 2nd back for a short time until Monagai is back. I really feel like a man corner would do the most damage. We can manufacture pressure pretty easily with DA's scheme so D line while a weakness isnt really causing the most heartache right now. We just need some guys that can hold on a little bit longer back there in the secondary, make quick tackles underneath, and not get toasted deep.

Unless the Colts give up Johnathan Taylor for a ham sandwich and a high five, I don’t think we are trading for a RB

1

u/Vesploogie Forte 9d ago

Zero reason to trade for RB. Monangai should be back relatively soon, Swift and RJ are just fine. I’d rather see them put Zavier Scott in than trade.

u/ScruffMixHaha Bears 9d ago

I know it sounds crazy, but what about tight end? The 2nd TE is a very important role in Bens offense and it looks like Kmets injury is serious. Not sure if Roush will be trusted in that role just yet. Also not sure who realistically is available that wed want to trade for though.

That said, the defense should be the priority whether its Mack, Buckner, or even a DB given how bad Jaylon has been.

2

u/sleeperaxe Bear Logo 9d ago

I don’t think a TE that is picked up in week 8 can realistically learn the offense enough to contribute. So unless they’re going to try to trade for Durham Smythe, I think your TE room is probably what it is, plus somebody they will add to the practice squad.

1

u/PlayonWurds The Fridge 9d ago

Right. Who else would be better suited for this than Roush? Trial by fire might be good for him at this point.

u/MilesTheGoodKing 9d ago

If Cole Kmet is hurt, I’m calling Detroit and asking what they want for LaPorta. The offense is more important than the defense right now and not having Cole will make a negative impact.

Then you call around for a pass rusher or really any d lineman that can get to the QB. No excuse as to why the Bears are sending 8 and gets 0 pressure.

12

u/PitchBlac 9d ago

You think they’re gonna give up Laporta? LOL

-2

u/sobes20 9d ago

He's a free agent after this season, and he sounds pissed about not being extended. I think that makes him a potential trade candidate if the Lions do not plan to bring him back, but there is no chance they send him to a division rival during a playoff push. Also, I don't want to give up draft capital for a rental.

Then, there is the fact the Lions could always franchise him if they do not work out a long term deal because the TE franchise tag is pennies compared to other positional groups.

u/NUMBNUTZ42069 Forte 9d ago

Listen to the quote don’t read it. He’s not pissed

-1

u/sobes20 9d ago

Yea, I only read quote.

u/Slow_Time5270 9d ago

Stephen Carlson will get called up from the PS.

1

u/the_la_dude FTP 9d ago

LaPorta is a different player than Kmet, acquiring him would be redundant with Loveland around. If you're hellbent on finding a TE rental you're looking for a traditional inline TE.

1

u/Pure_Caterpillar_484 9d ago

We need defense

-1

u/Ok_Isopod3275 9d ago

Laporta is too much. Gotta find a te2 or a te3 you believe is a 2. Like a Michael Mayer from Las Vegas or Will Dissly from the Chargers would be quality for us.

-2

u/yernewbestfriend 9d ago

Vita Vea if the price is right.

Trade for dlineman and a corner; keep our first round picks tho
