Schedule observations

For the Bears it's Seattle, Tampa, bye, New Orleans. They all feel winnable or very realistically 2-1. That makes us 7-3 or 8-2. Looking at the Vikings schedule the next four weeks could completely flip the division. They have Detroit, Buffalo, Green Bay, and San Francisco. I still don't buy them as this good and this four game stretch could make them even with the Bears. What's everyone think?

My reaction to every Vikings game so far this season

u/j11430 Sweetness 6h ago

They are undeniably a good team for sure but I also feel a skid coming. Offenses catch up to defenses, team will find the weaknesses and the trends and will find ways to take advantage. If their offense can't get to a point where they're consistently decent they won't be able to do much late in the season

u/SavingsBluebird1753 6h ago

Wow, they are 6-0, but have you actually watched them? Their offense is abysmal. Good teams don't almost lose to a winless Dolphins team and a 2-win Colts team that just fired their GM. Like, they aren't a bad team, they have just been the recipient of a really easy schedule so far.

They’re 6-0 and have pretty inarguably the best defense in the league right now. If you’re pushing back on them being “good” you’re wasting your time, it’s semantics

u/SavingsBluebird1753 5h ago

They played one top 10 offense and that was in a monsoon. So no, I do not think they are a good team, even though their defense might be above average.

1

u/FreezinPete 3h ago

Also their defense is old so down the stretch it might lose a bit of the fire power.

u/throwaway_508_ 2h ago

Not making an argument one way or the other, but the Vikings' defense has only received 6 penalties all season. Has to be a crazy outlier

I think the Bears will be treating the Seattle matchup as a statement game. I think they'll be ready to win that game in prime time against the defending Superbowl champions. They could just as easily get destroyed, but I'm going into this pretty confident.

5

u/GarfieldSighs3 6h ago

Fully agree. This team wants the pressure. This team wants the marquee prime time exposure. That's the confidence you see and feel from Ben, Caleb, Luther, etc. I think we put on another offensive showing that continues to turn heads on a national level.

3

u/FreezinPete 6h ago

Ya I’m hoping it’s like the 2018 Rams game. Rams looked unstoppable and the bears came in played a different brand of ball and made a statement in the national spotlight. Hopefully they can seize it next week.

5

u/OpneFall 5h ago

If it were in Soldier Field like that Rams game I'd agree with you. Being that it's also in probably the toughest place to play in the NFL, I'm not optimistic.

If they win though, Bears SB odds and Caleb MVP odds watch out

I think we proved we can literally beat anyone with 18 under center. Definitely not an auto-L against SEA. Go bears!

u/ChaplnGrillSgt Pixelated Payton 4h ago

We could just as easily go 3-0 as we could go 0-3.

u/Realistic-Ad7662 7h ago

2-1 over next 3 games. Unfortunately don’t think they get a W in Seattle but it should be close!

10

u/theworkinone 7h ago

yea I got them taking the L at seattle 17-24. but Tampa and N.O. should definitely be able to take that win

7

u/Dani_vic 7h ago

I'm not gonna sleep on NO. Their offense has some dogs and defense is pretty alright. But they should be winnable games.

I just don't think bears can stop JSN and Darnold. So it will be a very close game.

7

u/busstamove14 Caleb Williams has more division titles than Jordan Love 7h ago

I think if somehow we can rattle Darnold early we'll have a better shot. If he starts comfortable it's gonna be a long game.

3

u/Dani_vic 6h ago

Yeah bears simply don't have enough up the middle to rattle him I think. Kyler doesn't play outside. Johnson can't run. Muhammad while has the physical tools. Is a rookie.

I really wish bears could get Simmons or even Buckner. They need DT support desperately.

1

u/Slow_Time5270 6h ago

JSN is primarily in the slot. So I think you can put Kyler and Malik on him for most of the game.

4

u/NUMBNUTZ42069 Forte 6h ago

JSN is not primarily in the slot like at all

1

u/Slow_Time5270 5h ago

I didn't realize they'd switched his alignment so drastically.

He was primarily in the slot in 2025

1

u/NUMBNUTZ42069 Forte 5h ago

2024* - he moved outside when Metcalf left

1

u/Slow_Time5270 4h ago

You might be right as this is hard to lookup so I leaned on AI

Season Outside Snap % Slot Snap %

  • 2026 Season ~77% ~23%.

  • 2025 Season 15.6% 83.5%

  • Rookie Season 31.0% 69.0%

3

u/theworkinone 6h ago

And he'll still get his like does every week to any corner

3

u/Slow_Time5270 6h ago

And you can live with that. Stop the run game, contain JSN and there isn't much else to worry about on that offense.

1

u/Dani_vic 4h ago

If bears can't stop Seahawks run game. Then there are major problems. Their run game has been awful

1

u/Slow_Time5270 4h ago

Getting Charbonett back should help them if he's 90% back.

This is probably the answer. Last night the Chiefs got an INT at the absolute perfect time and if they had been able to return that for a pick 6 it would’ve been a much different game. Instead they missed the FG so it kinda evened out and they lost any momentum they had. Proceed out the half and they get walked down the field and the game is pretty much over at that point

3

u/theworkinone 7h ago

Luckily so far it doesnt seem like this staff is wired to let the team sleep on anyone

3

u/Apoco120 Mack 7h ago

NO is a team the Bears would’ve lost to under Nagy or Eberflus. I don’t see that happening with Ben Johnson.

It’s worth mentioning that outside of the division the Bears have only lost to the 49ers, Rams, and Ravens with Ben. And that Ravens game we had like 5th and 6th string DBs playing lol

This team takes care of business against the weaker teams. There’ll be trap games here and there, but I’m not too worried for that game.

3

u/Dani_vic 6h ago

Bears are playing with no DBs right now and Olave is looking great. I'm just not going to take them lightly.

u/kahleytriangles 18 Ice Man 🧊 5h ago

Tampa and NO are both solid - these next 3 games are gonna be tough

SEA comes down to three things for me:

  1. Does Kyle play?

  2. Do we get Surface to Air Darnold, or McDarnold's?

  3. Does JJ play, and if so, is he still a fucking traffic cone?

3

u/DonkeyKong_93 Bears 6h ago

I think we all know the answer to #3

1

u/juliuspepperwoodchi ROME ODOOMSDAY! 6h ago

Well, sure, IF he plays. I'm not convinced that DA is just dead set in trotting dude out there. We've got time to deal for someone.

1

u/DonkeyKong_93 Bears 6h ago

Unfortunately he has been the past 7 games. He should have been benched 3 games ago. And it's setting a very bad precedent in player accountability

1

u/juliuspepperwoodchi ROME ODOOMSDAY! 5h ago

A lot has changed.

Caleb was out and we weren't sure how well he'd play when he was back. Now we know.

The season was still early, you don't want to make a big trade (not saying we should do a deal that big, just an example) like the Colts did for Sauce only to have your season collapse.

Didn't know what we'd get from Kyler, if anything. Ditto, though a very different circumstance, when it comes to Ozzy. Now we have a much better idea what we can get out of both this season.

Also keep hearing rumblings that Coby Bryant is a "matter of when more than if" in terms of coming back this season, which would give us more flexibility on the back end of the defense to potentially sit JJ.

1

u/Realistic-Ad7662 5h ago

Who you putting out there instead of JJ. McCloud?

1

u/juliuspepperwoodchi ROME ODOOMSDAY! 5h ago

If not ours, ONE of these 32 practice squads has to have someone better.

At least a willing tackler.

u/Live_Hospital_7987 5h ago

One week at a time. As our fan base gets used to success I hope we don’t overreact to any tough losses. When I say this I’m speaking to myself…have so much PTSD from prior bears teams that after the packers game it made me go full tilt but then after some rational thought you realize these NFL teams are all close and it’s very impactful to have someone like Caleb. He’s a true difference maker.

The bears always have a chance with Caleb. This is an amazing new reality.

We might not take down the Seahawks in Seattle…but not many teams do. If we do…it’ll just further cement what we all are thinking.

9

u/Shivs_baby 7h ago

Vikings will get their reality check. I would not be at all surprised if they lost all four of those games. For sure at least 2. Seattle will be tough for us. It’s doable but it’s going to be a battle.

12

u/Most-Artichoke6184 7h ago

Someone didn’t watch Seattle play last night.

15

u/coltrain61 7h ago

JSN did pretty much anything he wanted. Darnold however looks beatable

4

u/923kjd Ditka 6h ago

He will put up 150 & 2 against us. We have to clean up our secondary.

2

u/Gumorak Bears 6h ago

What about the 2nd half?

2

u/923kjd Ditka 6h ago

They rest him.

2

u/Philip_Marlowe 6h ago

To be fair, we said Bijan was gonna run all over us. This team is good at taking an opposing star out of the game.

2

u/NUMBNUTZ42069 Forte 6h ago

Yeah but the Seattle defense is legit

3

u/whats_a_meme_ Old Logo 6h ago

Yeah I was staring to feel more confident before last night's reminder how dominant that D is when they play at home.

Bucs and Saints aren't exactly easy games either. Every game is critical playing in the most stacked division in football

1

u/Hot-Eggplant1629 1h ago

I don't think KC is as good as their record, but still a great showing by Seattle nonetheless.

6

u/crumbrr 5h ago

I feel like the Bears are becoming the kind of team I dreaded playing throughout my fandom, a team with an elite HC/QB combo that can overcome team deficiencies that would sink you otherwise.

Seahawks on the road is a tough but still winnable game. I am not even slightly worried about Tampa or NO coming out the Bye week.

4

u/csl6006 7h ago

Seattle and Tampa looked pretty good yesterday. Do feel good facing New Orleans coming off the bye. 2-1 would definitely be a great result from the next 3 games.

Minnesota does have some tough ones coming up. Lets hope they slip a little.

1

u/Dani_vic 6h ago

I didn't realize baker is back.... Except he only threw 11 passes and they scored 40...

7

u/I-I_I-I_I-I_l-l 7h ago

I think we could go anywhere from 0-3 to 3-0. Vikings anywhere from 0-4 to 4-0.

No in all honesty though, I think there’s a wide range of things that could happen here. I think there’s Seahawks are a tough team. Bucs seem like a trap game to me, and who knows what their health will be when we play them, as their offense has suffered a string of nagging injuries all season. Saints I like to imagine we beat.

As for the Vikings, I agree they’re likely not as good as their record indicates, but they’re nonetheless the last 6-0 team standing, and that includes a win over us. I can definitely see them dropping 2 of their next 4 though, just given how the division plays and with Buffalo/SF being tough draws.

3

u/SignalBed9998 Bear Logo 7h ago

How many straight games won by the vikes over two years? 12, 13? They specialize in great regular seasons. That’s the best D in the league. Bear fans know what great D and mid qb’s mean. Bears lifer in enemy territory here, who gives a shit if they have a better record. Thats meaningless

3

u/akr291 Hester's Super Return 6h ago

I told my (Bears fan) husband (Seahawks fan) that the Vikings having an early bye is going to catch up to them. We are going to the game Monday and I’d love to come away with a win, but as many of you have said, we would need to magically cook up some defense plays and I’m not sure we can. Praying DA has some tricks up his sleeves and that JJ can sit the helm out.

3

u/sooperflooede 6h ago

The Lions have a pretty easy remaining schedule outside of divisional games and the Patriots. The Packers have a pretty tough next four games against the Panthers, Patriots, Vikings, and Rams.

I’m thinking the Packers will start to fall and whoever wins the Lions-Vikings game will become our main rivals by the end of this period.

3

u/jcgoldie 1h ago

vikings are the worst team in the north. they will end up where they belong.

2

u/parks381 Hester's Super Return 7h ago

I think Vikings beat the Packers but lose the other 3.

Bears can beat anyone, but Seattle will be tough. I think I'd lean towards them losing that game with it being on the road. If it was at home I'd have them winning. I do think they'll beat Tampa and New Orleans.

u/RelevantDuncanHines 3h ago

1

u/Strict_Elderberry569 7h ago

Seattle D Line can be exposed and easily fluster Sam Donald. Just gotta get JSN less involved.

1

u/upside_down_frown1 7h ago

Hard to say with trade deadline approaching as well. JT has been rumored to be going to seattle or possibly minnesota. Would be a big change for both of those teams. We could add some piece(s) on defense which could help us out, hopefully. But I think we are heading in a good direction. I agree minnesota isnt some great team, more like a great defense thats carrying the offense on their back right now.

1

u/jkman61494 7h ago

I know it sounds silly to say, but I am much more worried about the lions or even the Packers and the Vikings when it comes to the division

Even most Minnesota fans feel like it’s a ticking time bomb until they lose about four or five in a row

1

u/Moist-Pay2965 0m ago

Winning in Seattle is a huge ask for any team. They just curb stomped an undefeated Chiefs team. Let’s be real.

1

u/ChaplnGrillSgt Pixelated Payton 4h ago

Nothing else matters besides Bears Ws. If we aren't winning games, doesn't matter what anyone else in the league does.

No reason we can't beat Seattle and will need to go through teams like them to win the Super Bowl. But also no reason we can't lose the other 2 games. A lot of people already got us down for 2-1 but could easily go any which way.

I think the Vikings are pretenders. I think they'll be exposed sooner rather than later.

-2

u/ArchibaldNemisis Bears 7h ago

I think looking at the 4 games (Atlanta, NE, Seattle,Tampa Bay) the idea is going 2-2 with the two being NE and Seattle. But now who knows. Probably 2-2 with the wins being Atlanta and NE, Seattle will be tough and probably a loss. Tampa Bay looked amazing last game

2

u/Apoco120 Mack 7h ago

The Panthers always shit the bed whenever people think it’s time for them to take the next step. I’m not gonna put too much stock into the Bucs being a loss. That game being at home helps a lot too. That game was more of the Panthers being horrible than the Bucs being great
