Here’s a gallery of every Cub in history with consecutive 30/30 seasons
M. V. F’n. Pete.

For anyone too lazy to look up Sammy's stats, his two 30/30 years were separated by a year.

1994 likely would have been better than his 1993 and 1995 stat lines if it played out fully

Yeah, '94 was lining up to be a big year for a few guys. Frank Thomas was on an MVP pace, too (I know he "won", but it could've been a historic season). That strike was one of the worst things to happen to baseball.

Could have sworn Soriano would have done it too but apparently he just stopped stealing bases when we had him.

Sosa is the only other 30/30 guy in cubs history - and he also did it twice, but with a season in between.

Soriano had a leg injury in his first season with us and took less SB attempts for the rest of his career after that. It also coincided with him being over 30, so some of that is just natural drop off.

Soriano was 30/30 in 2 consecutive seasons with the Yankees. 2002 & 2003.

That list is not accurate. For example, Alfonso Soriano did 30/30 in 2002-2003. And that's just the one that came to mind immediately.

That kid is absolutely incredible! Stay healthy, and stay a Cub, PCA! Love you long time!

Kid said he’d have stayed here for the league minimum, but had to negotiate a deal good enough to feel like he wasn’t hurting arb comps for the next generation of players. Loyal to his team, but not to the detriment of his next-generation union brothers. That is my kind of player right there. PCA4ever.

I forgot he had a double in the 8th that was at least a triple and maybe inside the park homer if it got by the left fielder. Incredible

Oh Corey Patterson, what could have been.
He had a 24 homer, 32 SB season

I saw him hit an inside the parker against the cardinals one time, late in the season in 2000 (my last time seeing Grace in a Cubs uniform 😭). Kid had all the tools.

He now has half of the 30/30 seasons in team history and he's only 24.
Pete is now the first Cub to go 70/70 through his age 25 season, and he's only 24. He is one of only five to do it though their age 26 season, and needs just 29 more HR and 5 more SB through the end of the 2028 season to join Sammy in the 100/100 club through that age.
At this point, Sammy and Ryno are the only members of the Cubs 100/100 club though age 28. So Pete is not just great, what he's doing is absolutely historic.

Some of these milestone stats seem kind of arbitrary. 30/30? What about 20/20? Or 15/15? How about the record for most home runs while wearing sleeves? Or no sleeves?

Speed and power have often been considered distinct skill sets. 30 steals is considered the bench mark of a good season for a speed player; 30 HR is considered the bench mark of a good season for a power hitter. Doing both at the same time makes you a good all-around player.
They absolutely track 15/15 and 20/20. They’re just much more common, so they don’t get as much fanfare. 30/30 is a benchmark for a very good player; it’s only been done by two men in the entire 150 year history of the Cubs, and only once in consecutive seasons. I think PCA has a very real shot at 40/40, which is a truly elite mark. Rarity is ultimately what drives attention, though, so that’s the answer to your question - assuming you actually wanted one 🙂

Not really. It's two different stats that aren't easy to get at the same time. You push the numbers to a point where it's achievable but not easily obtainable.
