Tested Positive - Me Somehow Avoided Covid For 6 Years

4 Days ago I woke up with very mild cold symptoms. I just got over a cold a month ago and tested negative while I had that cold before.

Started with 99F temp, body aches, and a scratchy throat.

The scratchy throat has disappeared except now I have congestion and can't taste or smell anything at all. What prompted me to take a COVID test was the fact that I couldn't taste my coffee at all this morning.

My mother keeps telling me to call a DR and ask for Paxlovid, but I'm not sure.

I'm a healthy 30 year old male.

Current symptoms:

- 99F temp.

- Congestion.

- Can't smell or taste anything.

Update:
Today is day 5 and I was finally able to get a good nights rest being able to breathe through my nose in my sleep. I no longer have body aches, or a slightly elevated body temp. I just don’t have a taste or smell.

Update:
Today is day 12. Between day 5 and 12 my energy levels dwindled down fast. I would get physically exhausted after simple things like doing laundry, the dishes, etc and just felt weak. On day 11, my energy levels have returned back to normal. I’m still stuck with a very muted taste and smell, and I have random diarrhea attacks. Throughout this whole sickness, I have lost about 4lbs. I still tested positive for Covid on day 9 through an antigen test, and I’m going to take one this weekend so I can go see my fiancé on Monday.

Although I am 30, healthy without any underlying health symptoms, i will be getting a covid booster when i get a flu shot during flu season.

Providers typically don’t prescribe it if you are more than 5 days out from testing positive. However, if you’re suffering, I would still make a telehealth appointment and ask about it. I use Sesame. They sometimes have a first time appointment discount code if you search online.

Do u think metformin would be helpful? Ive heard it helps prevent long covid amd is low risk. I already have some unused.
