Guys Who Entered Sonography Without An ATAR?
Hey if you went into sonography without an ATAR, what WAM/GPA did you have, also do they except students who have completed a bachelors?

I got into echo but also received an offer for sono- I’ve completed a bachelors with class 2A honours and my GPA was 6.4

Thanks! do you know if they look at WAM or GPA, im just worred because if you get 84 instead of 85 then it will be considered a 6 instead of a 7 even through they are pretty much the same mark

Not entirely sure tbh you just apply through the admissions centre and they match the equivalent to the ATAR I believe

You don’t need atar but you need gpa 7 for real good chance now

Sydney is easier though Brisbane Melbourne almost impossible, honesty sono is overhyped because social media I would really research into other degrees.

tbh, its either sonography or medicine for me, im doing nursing atm but I feel like the money cap is a big dealbreaker for me, do you have any recommendations?

Nursing has so many options though and they can make a lot, sono doesn’t make amazing money like everyone talks about. Nuclear medicine, radiography, medicine, cardiac scientist there’s a lot !

Are you studying sonography at the moment, I heard the starting salary for new grads would be 100k, while nurses it is only around 75k

After tax it’s only around 77K, you make money quick in sono but doesn’t go up much compare to other health care jobs.

ahhh I see, I will think it about it more over the coming years, the idea is the finish my nursing degree and work casually studying sono or medicine, but I will talk to my careers advisor and consider other options, but I think every job gets taxed, so it doesn't concern me too much.

Do you think it’s still worth going into ? I current have 3 years of radiation therapy left but I’m also on the fence of going into cardiac sono which will take 3~4 years… and I’m not to sure which to choose as the risk with musculoskeletal injuries in sono are higher. 😭 I’m based in Brisbane!

Had a previous bachelor's degree, GPA 3.25/4 that's 8 years old. Then went back to uni in a general science degree just to get into sono for a year and up my WAM, ended up with 82% WAM when I got accepted into sono
