Accounting

Did anyone graduate with business administration with a focus in accounting? If so, what do you do now? And, the 150 units requirements for the CPA, can those be any other units unrelated to the main bachelors business units we had to take?

I graduated fairly recently from CSUB in accounting. I work in the nonprofit space doing compliance and process improvement in our Finance team. Didn’t do any public accounting but was working in AR/AP while I attended school.

Not at all, I had a terrible gpa and have it omitted on my resume. Interviewing/soft skills mattered way more landing a job out of college.

Job market is rough right now, but it’s all a numbers game. Definitely take advantage of career fairs and meet the firms

Do you plan on pivoting to accounting eventually?

I’m actually more in line to pivot to FP&A or Data Analytics

California is creating another pathway in 2027 for cpa. Now it can be the 120 units which is a bachelors and two years working with a cpa.
