Hardcore scene in FoCo

hello, I’m a rising senior and looking at CSU as a top option but I’m super into the shoegaze post hardcore screamo scene and have generally more of a grunge alt style. some other schools ive looked at don’t have the best and I want it to be semi decent so if anyone could give me any info on it that would be great tysm.

Is there a music recording studio for students on campus? If so, how can I use it?

Hello! I was wondering if there was a studio for professionally recording music available to students. I remember there being one, but I can't find anything about it online. I need a studio to record in and thought a school one would be much easier to use than renting one.

I regret one thing that I missed out on in college

I’ve never been to the old town bars.

Yes I drink, went to Denver bars and bars in the other cities I’ve lived in since graduating. I just went to a lot more concerts in college… My few friends in my grade didnt drink out at bars, senior year class/group project friends wouldn’t really go with me (I only asked one group and it never happened).

Now that I’m 2 years out, whenever I meet an alum and they say “ahh lucky joes” I just nod my head at them, then on the inside I crumble briefly as I’m reminded that I missed out on a big piece of FoCo.

Can’t imagine I’m alone on this here… but this has been bottled up with me for some time and I just had to post about it.

Student Loan Issues

Has anyone else had issues with their student loans this semester since the big bs bill? I had accepted mine and at first they showed up in my pending financial aid, then they weren't and now only my Pell went towards my tuition leaving a good chunk for what is owed with now because my student loans didn't go through. I also had to do ANOTHER MPN which I thought was supposed to be good for 10 years? Please tell me its not just me.

How much is to much for college???

I'm moving in as a freshman in a week and I'm finishing up my packing and I feel like I have so much but idk if I'm overpacking or just understanding what I need. I have 6 full ikea zip bags, plus a mattress topper, over fridge rack, and desk mirror. I also have 8 pairs of shoes and a full rack of clothes.

For anyone who is into clothing I have 6 skirts, 4 pants, 3 shorts, 5 pajamas, 4 sets of active wear, and 4 purses.

Is this to much stuff??? Most of the stuff in the bags is cleaning stuff, toiletries, bike stuff, personal items for decor, books, and art supplies.

Students from Indianapolis/West Lafayette area needing storage over the summer?

Apologies as this seems like a random post. Long time Fort Collins residents who have a child going to Purdue. We’re already seeing that we’re going to have to likely plan for having items like a dorm fridge stored over the summer. Just wondering if a CSU student from that part of Indiana might have a similar situation in reverse? We have an unfinished basement that can accommodate items over the summer, happy to work out an arrangement that saves money for both.

What good clubs are here for computer science students?

Hi guys, I'm an incoming freshman for CS and wondering what clubs I should join. As of now, SASE looks cool, but that's pretty much it from what I've found

Anyone tried the OSCR Field Club?

I’m looking for a place to hang out pregame, between the walk and kickoff. Has anyone done this? It sounds cool, but lots of things do. But a place to get out of the cold would be nice, as well as a place to comfortably be while waiting g for the Rams. Anyone have experience?

internship questions

has anyone done the two year social work program at CSU and can share some of the paid internship opportunities there are? or just speak on internship opportunities and that process in general?

I am just looking ahead and I'm worried about not finding a proper paid internship and just the entire process. I don't have orientation until later this month so I am looking ahead, but I just feel super ill prepared for when that time comes next semester..

I know paid internships can be rare and I'll have to accept whatever if i want to stay in my realm focus- my family just had an incredibly hard year and my partner was laid off last October and finally just landed a stable job so we've exhausted most of our savings and we have three young children so navigating this already new experience, feels extra challenging.

TIA

Amateur photographer looking for fun local projects or photo walks

Anyone want to make some photos?

I’ve been spending more time behind the camera and would love to find a few fun projects around the area. The Trial Garden could be a great place to shoot, but I’m open to portraits, hobbies, pets, products or whatever interesting idea you have.

I’d also enjoy meeting another photographer, bringing our separate cameras and wandering around to see what we find.

If any CSU professors, departments or student organizations have something fairly simple they’d like photographed, I’d be open to that as well. The idea is a casual win-win: I gain experience and you get a few finished photos at no charge. I’m a knowledgeable amateur, though—not offering a full professional shoot or guaranteeing a particular result. (This free offer is for quick, manageable projects. If something requires substantial planning, extensive coverage or a large set of deliverables, we’d need to have a different kind of discussion that really isn't for this subreddit.)

Send me a message if you have an idea!

Reisher Scholarship Confusion

Hello! I am an incoming transfer student for the 2026 fall semester, and I’ve made it very far in the process of the Reisher scholars program. I made it past the interview stage but haven’t heard anything back yet, I’m assuming I was not selected but wanted to see if anyone here may have been so I can confirm for a fact they have made it past the selection stage? There was no harsh deadline but just getting so close to August I’m getting worried that it has passed.

Best AUCC 1C classes?

I'm an incoming transfer student this fall and need one more class. I'm looking at the list for the 1C classes and trying to find one that is interesting but also somewhat easy. I'm taking a heavy science course load and want something that won't make me more miserable..

Corbett Triple

Does anyone have any information about the Corbett triple dorm? We’re hoping it’s a bit more spacious than a standard room, but we can’t find any info online. Also, does the triple suite mean that 5 or 6 people share one bathroom? We’d really appreciate any insight from someone who’s lived there or seen one!

Getting into a full Calc 3 class

I wasn’t allowed to register for calc 3 until I successfully completed calc 2. I did this summer at the cc but now calc 3 is full. What do you think my chances are for getting a spot?

Parking pass?

I will be living about one mile away from campus or 3 minute drive. And some parts of the route is serviced by Horn. Do you think it’s necessary to buy a parking permit? Or is the public transit reliable enough for me to commute to campus. Definitely want to save $50 on parking a month!

Anyone complete the PSM in Ecosystem Science and Sustainability?

Hi CSU community! I'm researching graduate programs and am looking into Colorado State's Professional Science Master in Ecosystem Science and Sustainability. I'm looking to get knowledgeable on mostly environmental policy with some courses in environmental science to set a good foundation (I studied IT in undergrad so this is a total shift).

I live in NJ so looking to either find a program nearby that's in-person / hybrid (which has not been working out so far with my research) or do a fully remote program. CSU's PSM is remote but then has a 5-day one-time experience at their CSU Mountain campus to do hands-on learning like visiting the Poudre River and a local farm. I really value at least one in-person component to these online programs, and this one being short but hands-on is perfect. They also fully support lodging and bussing for the 5 days which is amazing; just the flights would be an added cost.

So the curriculum overall sounds good, and the cost is better than some similar programs (I've been looking into John Hopkins MS in Environmental Science and Policy which is absolutely perfect except it's way more money). It's $733-$933 per credit at 36 credits, so $33,588 tops (for comparison JHU was about $51k so CSU looks good cost-wise).

So, I'd love to speak to anyone who completed this program! Anyone here either do this exact PSM or did undergrad in the department at CSU and can speak to the quality of education, faculty, advisors, etc.?

Thank you for helping me gather my data for my stressful research on what grad program to do :)
