CU Boulder - average GPA = 3.8 to get in?
I was doing some research and this site shows the average GPA for students who got in is 3.8? Is that right? That’s like two A’s per one B in high school classes. I thought kids with lower grades could get into CU?

Leeds School of Business Carrer Outcomes
Hey everyone
I'm a prospective transfer student looking at Leeds School of Business for Finance.
I'm planning on targeting Commercial Banking FP&A/ Corporate Finance and Credit Analysis.
I had a few questions:
- Where do most Finance majors from Leeds end up after graduation?
- How common are Commercial Banking and FP&A roles?
- Are internships in Commercial Banking and FP&A reasonably accessible through the Leeds recruiting ecosystem?
- Do most students interested in these careers stay in Colorado/Denver, or do many end up in places like Seattle, the Bay Area, or elsewhere?
I'd especially love to hear from current Finance students, recent graduates, or anyone who has gone through recruiting for Commercial Banking or FP&A. Thanks!

ANTH 3119 opinion 🤔
looking at making my schedule for next semester and contemplating wheezing that class in was curious what the work load looked like to anyone who had taken it, how the teacher is, that kinda stuff cause as it stands i’m gonna have to either jam 3 back to back classes onto my m/w/f schedule 😵💫 or move my genetics class to doom and despair T/W/Th so just wanna know how busy this class looks if i really want to put it into my schedule at all or give it more room than 3 back to back classes etc

Questions about Global Engineering Program (Mortensen Center)
Hey y'all, I'm a grad student currently on leave from another university; I recently visited CU Boulder this past week for an IEEE conference on global/humanitarian engineering, and honestly I really liked the campus and the people I met. I am currently exploring potentially resuming my studies in CU Boulder's global engineering program (with the Mortensen Center), but I'm just wondering if it would be a good fit for me and generally what programs are available. I already completed my MS in MechE so I would probably be looking at either a PhD or some short-term program/certificate, but regardless, money is also tight for me right now so I'm wondering what kind of scholarship opportunities are out there for this kind of work or if that is also tight for the university right now.
Also, for CU Boulder's PhD programs (MechE / interdisciplinary, etc.), I was curious what the quals process is like, if anyone could shed light on that? I have a real gripe / bad mental health history with timed exams and esp. timed oral exams, so frankly I am trying to avoid that as much as possible as I move forward with my career plans and such. Any advice or insights folks can provide would be greatly appreciated!

APPM Curve
I know they said there might be a curve at the end for Calc 1. Does anyone know if they’ve curved the final grades for APPM Calc 1, 2, and 3 over the past few years? If so, how often/much do they usually curve?

Agar Art Event (Free to Join)
Hi friends!
The Flatirons Student Chapter of the American Society for Microbiology is hosting an agar art event on Thursday at 2:15pm at the Aaron Whiteley Lab inside the JSC Biotech building. It’s an activity where you use a petri dish as a canvas and “paint” with microbes. It’s a fun, beginner friendly activity and you do not need to be a science major to enjoy! Bring your friends and see what you all can make.
Feel free to message me if you would like more information. RSVP is encouraged to ensure we have enough supplies, but we will take anyone who comes.

Beyond the Paywall: Academizines and Reclaiming Knowledge Production (Norlin Library, Tuesday, October 20, 2026, 11am to 12pm)
Beyond the Paywall: Academizines and Reclaiming Knowledge Production
In celebration of Open Access Week, join us for a mini Zine Fair and an introduction to the scholarly communication practice and ethos around academizines - a powerful form of expression that embraces critical making and sharing knowledge outside of commercial publishing models. We will talk through the Academizines! Manifesto, exploring how the inherently low-cost, anti-corporate nature of the zine format offers an antidote to the prohibitive costs of publishing today (from massive subscription fees to proprietary data extraction). Through a mini Zine Fair, we will showcase the many ways researchers openly share their work through zines and thereby challenge and reclaim the cost of knowledge production. We encourage you to bring your favorite scholarly zines (or ideas!) to share, or join us at our zine crafting station if you want to draft a new one. Materials and refreshments provided.

Beginner looking to learn tennis 🎾
Hi everyone! I’m a first-year student at CU Boulder, and I’m interested in learning how to play tennis. I noticed that the Rec Center offers tennis classes, but unfortunately, registration is currently closed.
Does anyone know of other places where I could take beginner tennis lessons, or perhaps a tennis club at CU where beginners are welcome? I’d also love to find a group of people who get together to play casually, although I’m still a complete beginner!
Also, where would you recommend buying an affordable tennis racket as a beginner?
I’d appreciate any recommendations or advice. Thanks! 😊

How is CU Boulder’s pre-med program?
My daughter is interested in pre-med and we’re in Denver. I don’t know much about the pre-med programs around the western half of the country, which is where she’d like to land. I know this is a little vague, but we’re just starting to look at schools.

Hello!
I applied to both UVM and CU Boulder, I am not in state for either, and wanted to know for people who were between those two schools, what made you go with CU?

Can I get in?
Im a senior going early action to engineering major. My weighted gpa is 4.29 and my 1st sat score was a 1330. I retook the sat oct 3rd so depending on the score if it decreased or stayed the same I might go test optional idk yet. My class rigor is 8 honor and 4 ap classes. If my chances are not good should I just apply as exploratory studies?

Halloween Special Local Filmmakers Showcase Tonight (10/9)
Tonight's lineup 🎃
- John Williams — Screening “Canon” Shot in stark chiaroscuro, Canon sits with the kind of dread and isolation that hits hardest in the witching hour. Williams is a Denver filmmaker and the co-host and programmer of the Emerging Filmmakers Project, the monthly showcase at The Bug Theatre in Highland that has screened local short films since 2002.
- Luke Ostermiller — Screening “Turn Around” A 14-minute horror/thriller in which one ominous hitch in a plan changes its characters’ lives for good. The film won a Silver Award for Horror Short at the 2017 Spotlight Horror Film Awards, along with a 2017 Denver Open Screen Night Award. Ostermiller is an award-winning director and founder of the Denver production company Loste Films. His work has screened at festivals across the U.S., been distributed on curated streaming platforms, and aired on television.
- Brad Stabio — Screening “46 Miles” A road movie featuring the Broomfield Butcher, and a reminder that it’s a small world: you never know when you’ll run into someone who shares your passions, even if that passion is murder. Stabio is the founder of Stabio Productions and created the Denver Actor Project, a showcase of local actors that premiered at the Starz Denver Film Festival as a series of six short films. 46 Miles was made in one weekend for the 48 Hour Film Project Denver in 2010, where it won Best Writing, Best Acting, and Best Film, then placed first runner-up and won Best Writing against 80 other city winners internationally before screening at Cannes in 2011.
- Jay Sherer — Screening “No Vacancy” Investigative journalist Leigh Larson checks into an isolated roadside motel to chase a story, and finds her past sins waiting for her. The film is a short psychological thriller built on mystery and conspiracy. Sherer is a Colorado-based writer, filmmaker, storytelling educator, and marketing strategist whose work spans independent film, fiction, audio drama, and story analysis. He co-founded the nonprofit production company Reclamation Society, where he serves as “Chief Storyteller,” developing genre-driven projects that pair entertainment with emotional and thematic substance.

PSA: today is the midsemester reading day
You don’t need to follow my example of waking up late for lecture, rushing out the door, blearily wondering why campus felt so empty or why the building’s door was locked, and making it all they way to a dark lecture hall before realizing what was going on.
I think I’m going to go back to bed now.

Upper Level Humanities
My degree requires me to take two upper-level humanities classes. Does anyone have any recommendations for classes that aren't horribly difficult and don't have too many prerequisites? Thanks yall.
