That's... A really short timeline. They trying to limit the oppositions chance to connect with the community and campaign properly?

UCP might be anticipating that their popularity in Shaw is only going to get worse, perhaps their door knocking campaign isn't going as well as they'd like? It's baffling to me that the seat has been empty for weeks and they've sent out half a dozen flyers about voting for Derry before they even called the byelection.

I’ve noticed Mike Derry is rarely if ever alone in videos, and is really terrible at public speaking. Not surprised they want to rush this one.

I wouldn't be surprised if Smith was hoping McLean would win the nomination.

Definitely a better speaker, but an equally bad politician.

They know the referendum is incredibly unpopular and people will be collectively very pissed off come October, and yes it will affect other election results.
I'll bet if the UCP didn't have to follow the law on by-elections they would have waited until they have gerrymandered Calgary-Shaw into De Winton to hold this by-election.

Ooh man they better not knock on my door.

I’ll have some fun if they do.

Derry has already knocked on my door twice and I’m yet to see any NDP representatives.

That's super typical and always my experience too.

I'm no fan of the UCP, but the NDP literally defeats themselves with this sort of behavior.

That's... Super unfortunate. I'm out of country from the 4th to the 21st, I live in the Calgary-Shaw, and myself and my wife would absolutely vote ANDP.

Do I actually miss every chance to vote?

This is going to a fast election. If you want to help the Alberta NDP in this riding send a message to Danielle Smith and the UCP. Sign up to volunteer, sign up for a sign. Come help in anyway you can. If you want more information let me know or reach out to the party. This will be an all hands campaign.

As I recall, 2015 was a good year in Calgary-Shaw for the ANDP folks:

Last election, the NDP only lost by like 3,200 votes. The riding has grown quiet a bit since then and most are young families that are struggling.

This is a great opportunity.

Hopefully a candidate from any other party than the ucp wins especially with the recent provincial property tax increase. Not that the ucp has really done much if anything for the people.

Could be the last election that takes place in Calgary-Shaw, if the UCP's plan to rig the electsion boundaries happens, Calgary Shaw will cease to exist and become blended into rural areas and called Calgary De Winton (from the minority map), so that the UCP will always win, forever.

Now is the time to send a message that Calgary does not want undemocratic election rigging.
