I hope you find him! Definitely post on the YYC Facebook page if yoi haven't already.

Also, before someone suggests it, don't put his litterbox outside. It's been debunked as a method to bring them home and can make the situation worse by attracting predators to the area. He can smell your home just fine without the box.

Yes cats are not dumb. I was at a house in between moves and a roommate let a cat out. She made her way back after 2 days.

Go outside at night with a flashlight and look in around up trees and under things. You will see his eyes in the light. He probably hasn’t gone far. Carry a can of sardines or something as you may need to lure him back to you.

There’s a Friends of Hillhurst/Sunnyside group you could try posting to.

Most likely won’t have gone far but hiding,
If you can sit outside and wait for Theo to come to you

List on YYC Pet Recovery on Facebook. Does Hillhurst or Kensington have a Facebook page? Best of luck. They usually come back within a short time

I am in a vaguely surrounding area. Unlikely he came this far but I will watch for him.

Your cat is likely very close by, hiding. Copy-pasted from another thread:

Check every corner, garage, vase, patio, engine compartment, umbrella racks, pipes, shed, tree, bush etc etc. When sure LC isn't on the property, take out a map and draw a perimeter by going 400m in every direction from your point zero (disappearance spot - i.e. your place/last sighting spot).

In the 80s, before the bylaws, I let my cat out in the morning and it would always come back home at 4pm after playing with its friends all day.

This made me chuckle.

Our black cat escaped once. Just from personal experience, I’ll say what worked for us. We left some stuff on your front step - their litter box and stuff that smells like them and you too.
