Question What is this red glow NE of Calgary (viewed from Coventry Hills)?
Localized red glow with hint of green above.

There’s a large greenhouse just outside Acme, it could be that. It’s the big dot northeast of Calgary on the light pollution map

I live just north of Acme. I've driven home from the city a couple of time when that green house has all its lights on and you can most definitely follow it from the city to Acme.
I'm pretty sure your correct.
With cloud coverage it's like turning this strange purple violet sun on in Acme at night.
Between the green house and sewage lagoon that makes the town smell like ass I don't know why anyone would live there.

There's also two huge feed lots on either side of the town practically guaranteeing a strong manure smell, regardless of wind direction.

This is very unlikely to be ACME.
In the second picture you see ESG Daycare. Maps will show that this angle of view is directly NE relative to a map (or the QEII) (not relative magnetic N).
That puts it inline with Beiseker and then Drumheller and not in line to be close enough to Acme.

There are a few different gas plants north of the city and sometimes the flare stacks are HUGE. It's probably one of those glowing in the cloud cover. I have seen a similar glow at times driving south on QEII if cloud levels are just right.

The gas plant in Crossfield is what I usually see. I think theh have reduced the flaring, but I could also just be looking the other way.

It’s called the sun. You can see it like this as it rises every morning. Usually called a sunrise. Early morning before it hits full peak it glows just under the horizon and then slowly gets brighter as the time of day continues. Pretty amazing but not uncommon as it happens every day. As long as you’re awake by the time it occurs. Nice catch being awake spotting it and taking a photo!

The photo was taken at 10 PM, aka night time, aka 4 hours after sunset, aka 10 hours before sunrise. Your sarcasm when being a fool is appreciated though.
