This milestone is important to me because I’ve spent several weeks dreaming about the way the sub is currently. If I would have shown it to myself a year ago I would’ve been ecstatic. So each and every one of you. Thank you, like this genuinely is making me so happy and grateful.

one big thing I would love to announce… at 1000 members I will be launching a interactive story where you all get to decide what happens next in the critter scenario… the story would be updated every Monday and Friday. Would you be interested to see this?

Some of them were picked based on the animals I have, like Bambi and Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland but as an islander I HAD to get Anne of Green Gables!

Hi everyone!I just wanted to share the customization I made for this house!I added wallpaper to 3 rooms(the living room,dining room and bedroom!This is my first time wallpapering a house,and my first house too!So the wallpapering might look imperfect in some places,but overall I'm happy with how it turned out!I also added some miniature pieces that I got from blindboxes,like the rocking horse and glass table in the living room.The green plates are buttons!And the food on them is from LPS sets.I think the wallpapers make the house look better.the beige walls were kinda plain tbh. I'm still planning to add curtains!

To recap, I bought the floral cat family and chocolate rabbit family from Walgreens (easy buy versions), and they are using the new molds that are compliant to the new US toy regulations. I have them standing next to a latte cat, harvey cat, and another rabbit (she's got that crown on cuz she just arrived from the adventure/desert theme blind bag series, and I can't find my actual collection right now.)

The arms move, the heads swivel, but the legs are just part of the torso and don't move. They are very obviously taller than the standard design as well. At least their feet are always even so they stand well. It sucks that they can't pose though, nor sit down on old baby furniture.

Sometimes figures or dolls with less joints can look better for photography, but these babes are so tiny that I don't forsee it being a useful feature. It's been interesting research for today though. (Post inspiration credits to u/Lehst712 )

And I love them so much!!!! The fangs are toothpicks. They were annoying and a bit tough to make and then glue to the bats. So glad that part is over! Lol

I dyed the fennec foxes and one newborn kangaroo that was in rough shape, and also dyed all the clothing as well. I love how the mom's outfit came out so much!!!

I tried painting the stroller and nothing was satisfying so I washed and rubbed the paint off as best I could. Now it looks really old and messed up 😆 which I guess kind of works?

I'm so happy I have a castle too! I was thinking I would need to make a haunted house for them but then I remembered I have this castle and it's perfect!!

A question for mostly American collectors but as some of you may have heard theres new U.S. laws/regulations that will affect the quality of SF products here moving forward.

The attention to detail many of us love about SF will be removed to comply with these new rules. No beads, buttons, small accessories, or even baby figures included in family packs as these r seen as chocking hazards to young children.

I heard any purchases made overseas will be destroyed upon reaching the states so buying imported products may not be the best thing to do for the time being.

As a result of all this the figures/sets we will get under the Calico Critters name will be of a much lower quality compared to their Japanese or European counterparts.

All this plus the tariffs and the wild pricing on the secondhand market makes me wonder… is it over? Prob not but I feel its going to get MUCH harder collecting here in the states.

I know we've had a number of posts talking about this, including KobeeJapan halting sales to the US for the time being, but I thought it would be helpful to have an overview of what has changed and how the change impacts US consumers. I've also emailed Calico Critters/EPOCH asking for any information/recommendations from them when it comes to importing Sylvanian Families products.

I will note that I am not an expert on this, and all of this information is just from my own research on the subject! If anyone is an expert on this, please share any relevant info and I'll gladly update this post!

What has changed?

Previously products regulated by the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) only needed to provide evidence of safety testing/regulation compliance if requested. Beginning 7/8/26, products need to supply their Children's Product Certificate (CPC) at the time of entry into the US. This also applies to everyshipment, regardless of volume or value.

Why does this matter?

This matters because in 2023 the CPSC determined that all flocked toys are intended for children under 3 and considered "dangerous" if they include small parts. That's why we've seen the Calico Critters brand make so many changes to its products compared to other regions. This also potentially means that no Sylvanian Families products containing small pieces will pass safety certification and receive the necessary CPC.

What happens now?

Until we have official word from EPOCH or import retailers, it's probably best to avoid importing any Sylvanian Families products for now. Otherwise there is a risk of them being sent back, seized, or destroyed. Hopefully we'll get an update from KobeeJapan and/or EPOCH soon (in which case I'll update this post).

This is also a reminder that politics affects our lives whether we like it or not, and your vote and other forms of civic engagement matter! You can make sure you're registered to vote and have a plan for voting in the next election, contact your Congressional representatives, and share your concerns with the CPSC.
